Teel suffers LCL sprain (Pg. 5), out 3-6 weeks
There's only usually a half dozen or so total bilateral ruptures in the entire US a year. Part of my recovery was so excellent is that I was basically a prestige surgery for the best in the area. If anybody IRL that knows me is reading this they got me. That said, I don't know anybody in real life that reads Soxtalk!

5/18 White Sox @ Seattle 8:40pm CDT: Schultz vs Woo
Warmed up quite a bit here this afternoon. I'd imagine roof will be open tonight. Ball should carry alright. No wind at all today to speak of should be near perfect playing conditions if a bit cool after the sun goes down.

At this risk of doxxing myself I tore both my patella tendons at the same time playing tennis 11 years ago. I was walking in my braces 2 weeks after surgery. Surgeon asked me where my walker was at the two week follow-up, told him I only used it for a week. I did a 4.8K vertical foot backpack 14 months later and I walked around Nola on a planned vacation 6 weeks after surgery. I attacked that rehab man.

A sprain is a tear, just a mild one not requiring surgery. But yea, agree 6 weeks for a non surgical sprain is pretty conservative. I'm guessing at this point they are just going to shut him down for a few weeks. Lotta pool work and bike riding in his immediate future.

Mariners fans apparently hate their lineups against LHP. We'll see how Noah does tonight. Really just needs to trust his stuff early more. No nibbling, if they hit a fastball f*** it.

Man spraining your LCL that badly on a swing is either bad luck or a guy trying to do too much. Maybe a bit of both.

2026 MILB Catch-All
What's the report on Gonzo as an IF? Capable defender at all 3B, SS and 2B? If that's the case and they thing Montgomery can backup CF when he's in Chicago Acuna's time might be limited.

Ah, Wednesday is a day game. I just got a ticket for tmr's game instead. Section 140 row 9. Right at the edge of visiting dugout down there. Ticket was 60 and had a promo code for 10 off, not bad at all. I got the T-Mobile lounge access for cheap drinks too.

Sucks to come out to the PNW before July 4th too. We are still mired in damp low 60s. Odd schedule we were just on west coast then went home now back on west coast.

5/17 White Sox vs Cubs 1:10pm CDT: Fedde vs Rea
As a former 1B I have sympathy for Mune on that play. The "skipping stone" throw is the hardest to handle. Vargas was clearly trying to go for one good hop but he spiked it a bit. Oh well, it worked out eventually.

He'll do wand night on Star Wars night knowing him.

Trade Proposals
Not really that tough imo. There's no rush to do anything. For all we know we come back to earth and lose like 15 of 20 in July or something to put us firmly out of contention even in a weak league. Gonzo can still benefit from another 200 AAA PA and Chase while not a star or anything is a decent enough regular on a team controlled deal, no rush to do anything with him either. If we want to "rush" some things I'd probably consider getting out in front of a Colson extension. If he's a 4-6 WAR SS he's gonna be really expensive and we can try and get out in front of that.

He peaked with his spring training grand slam against the Cubs.

I really fucking hope he didn't tear his meniscus. That's the worry here. You aren't going to rip an ACL swinging.

At what point do we start to believe?
Sox are now 7th in wRC+ at 107 and 6th in position player war at 7. 17th in pitching fWAR at 3.8. As I posted in the post gamer if you look at just May the Sox are easily the best offense in MLB. We have an xwOBA in May of .371! Next closest is the Cubs at .342. The delta between the Sox and Cubs at 2nd is equal to the delta between the Cubs and 16th place Arizona at .313. Incredible. Also, for anybody worried about Colson's back he looked pretty good picking up and throwing the gatorade cooler post game...

S__ My D___ B___ what a great look. These guys get paid to not do that s%*# imo. You're a pro.

You can't argue with results and right now Getz' arrow is pointing up. That said, there was nowhere to go but up. Rebuilding off a 100 loss team is always the easy part. Hard part is actually doing something after.

He's been like a 85 wrC+ guy for most his career outside that hot 3 months to start last year. He's a great player it's just tied up mostly in defense which won't always carry him especially as he ages.

Two things: Bothers me how TA was portrayed at times compared to PCA. He's also just not that good. Great defender sure but just an average hitter at best. Star player for now but I bet he dims a bit over the next few years.

Quero has gone from a guy with a promising future even as just a backup catcher to a guy that might be fighting for his MLB life over the next year or so, let him have a moment FFS. As much as we've all ripped him for sucking he came through today. Same with Beni. When the stars do their job it makes the role players relax and we've seen that lately.

Taylor has earned the closer role. And I think he'd be a good guy to try a few 4 out saves. If we aren't going to stretch him out and we really are contending he's the obvious next man up.

Steve you have Mune on deck, the bases are loaded, the pitcher has thrown 12 straight balls -- do you think he has the 3-0 green light here?

Mariners aren't exactly lighting it up and no Raleigh. Weather will be relatively cool but not sure if the roof will be closed. Conditions might favor the Mariners but our guys are on a roll so who knows.

This is an insane stat: The Chicago White Sox lead MLB in wRC+ in May at 128. Here is an even more insane stat: The White Sox lead MLB in xwOBA at .376 in May. The next closest team is the Pirates (of all teams) at .344. That's a bigger gap than between the Pirates and the 12th place team. Wow.
