Is there an option to turn off the "thread preview" and just see the post topic? It it too busy for me and cluttered now.

WBC game threads and catch-all
It is really not that deep imo. The WBC eligibility rules are designed loose for a reason, and it is to get more talent spread around. Baseball is growing but it still has most the talent centered in the US Caribbean and Japan, so it is good to allow Italy to field a team and for Americans with Korean or Taiwan or whatever background to suite up for those nations.

Teel injured in WBC - Grade 2 hamstring strain, out 4-6 weeks
Probably a 2-3 week setback based on how it looked and his reaction. Not the worst thing in the world now we can get Edgar more ABs early.

2026 Spring Training Thread
So is the positional value. How are we even still debating these things in March 2026. If you cut Sosa every team other than maybe LA would claim him. If you cut Beni nobody would claim him even if the Sox agreed to pickup 1/3 of his remaining salary.

Position coaches rarely matter but the key thing is if guys like you and want to at least try and work with you, so Shomon seems like a good coach that way. We seem to have cleared out some dead wood in the org the last couple seasons at least.

White Sox win draft lottery, will pick #1 in 2026
That's at least partially why I'm such a big Matas fan. 1st generation Chicagoan and American.

2026 Bold Predictions
This one I just don't see at all. His defense is good enough to carry his bat even at like 220/280/380. And he's not going to slash that all year long. I think something like 240/300/440 is much more likely, a regression but still a solid regular.

2026 Bold Predictions
I get "bold' is doing a lot of work here but every one of those seems absolutely insane to me, like 1 in 100 seasons type stuff. The only one I could possibly see would be Murakami setting the K record. As for a bold prediction I'd say that Baldwin gets around 120 starts, hits around 20 HR and finishes around 2.5 WAR.

White Sox lawsuit.
This guy is full of s%*#. A 12th round pick that was injured for most of 2019 (you know before Covid) and was awful when he did pitch, continued to be awful after receiving a vaccine that 99.99% of young people tolerate just fine and now 6 years later is claiming up to 20 million in lost wages? Bro was never making it above AA, he stunk and was already injury prone before Covid.

Must be just to get all the pitchers reps. Thought it was usually just 4 tho and then a coach would help out. Little spring curiosity maybe I'll ask someone if I get to a game.

An ominous future...
Only thing that matters in the union is seniority, which works in other fields but not in MLB. I'm not sure what a good starting point would be, but the union should have a goal of knocking down the arb clock while also raising the 26 man roster min salary. What concessions they'd have to give up tho I don't know.

Felt nice about the future Sox until I saw that putrid Nick Shitlicker Swisher tribute on the OF wall.

SouthSideSox deep dive/profile on Brooks Baldwin
I mean I'm high on Baldwin as anybody but 50% of the time he's just a utility guy, 20% of the time he's a solid regular, 10% of the time he becomes a borderline star and 10% of the time he washes out of MLB in a few years due to injuries or whatever. The conclusion of the article doesn't really follow the premise, which is that he's an interesting youngish player -- not a foundational piece. Even if he turns into a 3 WAR player, borderline all-star, we still need about 20 more WAR around him to get to 90 or so projected wins. He'd just be a nice cog best case. It was stupid we didn't give him more ABs last year and jerked him around the field. Just park him in LF and let Beni start the year on the IL.
