Cafardo: Cardinals interested in Avi
I wouldn't trade him at this point. He's in his prime and according to ZIPS (and more) he's now basically a 2 WAR player. He can play RF until he gets FA 3 years from now then see where the Sox are at in the rebuild.

Watching the game now. Man that Stroman delivery is a thing of beauty. Big fan of his. Works quickly as well.

From the box, team looks good. Better than PNW weather today. Ugh, took Midwest based mom out to see the mountains and sound, hardly saw any mountains. Did see a sea lion though. Wanted to just copy paste this: The Sox have the 14th best RD in MLB at +9 almost halfway through. That only accelerates the rebuild. Guys that you'd like to produce either for trade or long term value -- they are. Davidson probably isn't a MLB regular but he could certainly be a guy you have 200-300 PA a year to while backing up 1B/LF/3B/DH, mostly against LHP. If he can hit .250 in MLB despite his K rate. He's a keeper. The power is there. It appears the Sox have good organizational depth in the IF now. Really good actually, especially for the Sox. Ricky loves the bunt way to f***ing much, but under him we've seen more growth than under RV in his entire tenure. Could be luck, but might also be better man management.

Nationals acquire Doolittle/Madson from As
QUOTE (Hatchetman @ Jun 16, 2017 -> 06:48 PM) You and me both. If I'm hoping to win a World Series, he's not my closer. Maybe a set up man. Eh, he's not the dominant guy he was in his prime with the Yankees but he's still one of the top 10 closers in baseball. His xFIP is 3.17 and he's striking out as many guys as he ever has despite having some control and command issues. Perhaps from not being used often enough. You can easily win a world series with Robertson as your closer. He's tied with Houston's Ken Kiles in xFIP and fWAR and the Astros probably feel good enough about their closer to not worry. Among pitchers tossing over 20 innings Robertson is 40th in xFIP. Again, he was really dominant in New York, arguably the best closer in the game. Now that he's merely "very good" isn't really a problem.

QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Jun 16, 2017 -> 04:37 PM) Technically you're correct until they don't have that big lead. I get you're being sarcastic but still correct. Eh, any move they make is going to be for October. They could probably win the division with you and I closing. But in the playoffs they will need guys like Robertson.

Weekly Top Prospects Report
Spencer Adams is quietly putting together a pretty good season. He's finally striking more guys out. Maybe he can be a 4th starter.

SSS Theater: Avi Garcia
QUOTE (OmarComing25 @ Jun 16, 2017 -> 10:31 AM) He's leading all OF in assists though. Is he throwing to the wrong base enough to offset that? Fangraphs has him at + 5.7 runs in CF, so he's doing something right. The Sox have gotten 6 fWAR out of Avi, Yolmer and Leury -- that's wild.

SSS Theater: Avi Garcia
You can hit the ball hard and still have un sustainable BABIP. Avi is not going to have a BABIP of over .400 on October 1st. He might have one over .370 though. ZIPS sees .347 the rest of the way, which tells you that ZIPS has "baked in" his batted ball improvements. Personally I'm more curious if he can finish with an ISO over .200, which would be a big mark for him. He needs to keep hitting his XBH.

6/14 vs Orioles
QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jun 14, 2017 -> 06:34 PM) Holmberg back to the pen? What will they do when a Rodon returns? That would force out who...Pelfrey or MiGo, or six man rotation until a trade is made? I think Rodon is making his 2nd rehab start tmr at Charlotte. I don't think he'd need more than four, so if everything goes well he should be back by first week of July.

Reverse Standings Thread
QUOTE (maxjusttyped @ Jun 14, 2017 -> 05:50 PM) None of the White Sox underlying stats suggest this is a bottom 5 team in baseball and they've played significantly more games on the road than at home. I'm worried the Sox will actually play ~.480ish baseball the rest of the way and play themselves out of a top 5 pick. Well, once they "rid themselves" of Frazier and a couple bullpen pieces and/or whatever scraps they can get for Melky and the veteran SP they will really be a bad team. The pen has held this team together for the most part. I can see the Sox going on an epic losing streak in August.

Reverse Standings Thread
QUOTE (flavum @ Jun 14, 2017 -> 03:54 AM) Another win, go to 5th to 6th. Same record as Miami, but tie goes to the Sox. .444 winning percentage puts them on pace for 90 losses. I never want to see them go above .444, so lose a few right now. Sox are at that percentage with -1 in RD. That's about the best case scenario. Team is better "on paper" than in the standings, but we need the losses, duh.

Which young Sox hitter/s are you most excited about?
QUOTE (raBBit @ Jun 14, 2017 -> 03:55 PM) I agree with a lot of this and had the same experience in ST but that line is bit much. Outside of a 40 game stint in BHAM last year, Delmonico has never slugged like that. Even in a bandbox in Charlotte he hasn't slugged .460. There is a trend of players getting to the big leagues and showing more power though so it's not ridiculous by any means, but just a bit heavy for me. What I like from Delmonico, other than his hack, is that he has slashed his K rate this year significantly. Outside of a low A ball, he's been 20+ K% at the least. He was 21% and 25% in AA and AAA last year. This year he is at 16.7%. What I don't like from Delmonico is he is an absolute butcher at 3B. The Sox like his makeup so maybe they're giving him more time to figure it out but this guy is awful out there defensively and from what I've seen, a lost cause. He should've been tried in LF yesterday. The other thing to consider with Delmonico: Home: .351/.438/.613 & Away: .198/.261/.328. Right on. I'd take the 280/340 part of that line with any decent pop. So maybe 280/340/430. That would play as a decent starting LF assuming his defense can be averageish.

Which young Sox hitter/s are you most excited about?
QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Jun 14, 2017 -> 09:19 AM) Delmonico's hitting profile is completely different than Davidson's. Nicky has a K rate of 17% this year, while Matt's best season in Charlotte was last year at 26.4%. And this is despite similar power (in game) & BB rates. Delmonico is a much better hitter IMO and has a better chance of sticking in the majors assuming he can find a spot defensively (perhaps LF). I liked what I saw from Delmonico in the spring that also influenced me a bit. Every time he came up it seemed he was either doubling or making a hard out, at least in the couple games I saw him. He's got a nice compact swing so while 30 HR potential is probably a stretch I can see him hitting for a much higher average than Davidson as well. Maybe something like a 280/340/480 line if he pans out. That would be a much better LF than Melky.

Tommy Kahnle
QUOTE (iamshack @ Jun 14, 2017 -> 02:22 PM) I mean this is where I say it doesn't do the Sox any good to "bundle." We are not selling out of a junkyard on American Pickers. The only scenario wherein it makes sense for us to make this sort of deal is for quality, IMO. Quality = Robles. Basically, I am willing to overpay to meet your need in order to get back THE player I absolutely believe can fill a great need of my own. Otherwise, I'll trade you Kahnle for Soto and 2 other pieces, or Robertson for Kieboom and 2 other pieces. At least that is how I would envision it. Say, hypothetically, a team is offering a B prospect for Robertson and another team is offering a B- prospect for Kahnle. If you can convince the first team to take them both and get an A- prospect back you do it every time. Especially if that guy is a position player.

AND THATS A WHITE SOX WINNER!!!
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 14, 2017 -> 01:56 PM) Also worth nothing from the game is that the Sox SP went six innings for the first time since June 3. This seems like the most least surprising thing ever but still, jeeze.

AND THATS A WHITE SOX WINNER!!!
QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Jun 14, 2017 -> 11:18 AM) He definitely looks like he can be a dangerous platoon bench bat (.936 OPS against lefties) that can fill in at 3B, 1B, & DH. Right now I don't expect much more than that, but he's earned a a full-time look until something better presents itself. It's going to be interesting to see how things shake out after the trade deadline. I'd really like to see Davidson, Delmonico, & Willy Garcia all get regular playing time. A rotation between 3B, LF, & DH should allow for that while ensuring alll these guys get some time in the field. Yep

Which young Sox hitter/s are you most excited about?
I went with Delmonico I think he has 30 HR potential in that bat. Could be an interesting piece.

Orioles vs White Sox 7:10 Pm
QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Jun 13, 2017 -> 08:33 PM) He hasn't started regressing yet . He's been fairly consistent. Every time his BA gets around .325 he bumps it right back up into the .330's and another hit today might make it to .340 . Avi Garcia hitting .340 on 6/13/17 has to be one of the strangest things I've seen in 20+ years of baseball.

White Sox pick 3B Jake Burger at #11
QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jun 13, 2017 -> 07:51 PM) Both Hostetler and KW comp him to Gary Gaetti. If he is a match, it was a real good pick. He'll need to stick at 3rd to have that sort of impact because other than early on his career Gary was mediocre with the bat. I don't see the comp personally. I see some Kevin Youkilus with more power less average. Defense will always be a concern.

Day Two Draft Discussion
QUOTE (shipps @ Jun 13, 2017 -> 04:49 PM) I really havent seen them do it though. I guess TA has gotten better and Collins seems to have gotten better but not sure I have a ton of faith in the Sox at developing guys defensively. Flowers and TA are pretty good success stories.
