  1. Davidson is now rocking the hallowed ISO over .300. I love that, one of my favorite stats. A true slugger. Power for days. He also almost has an OPS of 900. Wow.
  2. QUOTE (bmags @ Jun 20, 2017 -> 08:05 PM) Perhaps after seeing multiple struggling young hitters coming to form you can also find that pitchers too may actually struggle before improving. touche. well said.
  3. QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Jun 20, 2017 -> 08:05 PM) Because of the fact we are not there yet with the 3b prospects being ready I would keep Todd for two years more. I think he and Davidson can alternate between 3b and DH and spell Abreu on occasion. Give Stoddard stability contractwise might help him relax and hit consistently Todd in two years is probably replacement level. No way, get rid of him for whatever you can at the deadline. As for Avi, just when you think he's going to turn back into a pumpkin he comes through with a big 3-4 night or a couple big bombs.
  4. Jose's bat goes through phases of looking very quick and very slow.
  5. You rarely see a MLB player swing at a pitch that awful. That said, Engel isn't really a MLB player.
  6. God the Twins announcers are dumb. I guarantee you Pythag 70 odd games in predicts future record better than actual record. The Hard Ball Times did a study that showed actual record only predicts better after 100 or so games. Run differential is absolutely not worthless. Ask the 2016 Cubs.
  7. QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 20, 2017 -> 07:38 PM) I can't stand both the catchers. Can't wait for the platoon of Collins and Carson Kelly I like Narvaez. Any catcher that can carry a .350 OBP is OK by me. That said, ideally he's a backup on the next good Sox team. He's like a 1-2 WAR type.
  8. Two lucky breaks for minny. Hard hit balls getting turned into outs.
  9. QUOTE (iamshack @ Jun 20, 2017 -> 07:35 PM) BTW, I am loving what we are getting from Davidson. Yea he looks good. We are seeing more guys that can carry a 25-30% strikeout rate and still be productive MLB hitters. Davidson might be one. Why the f*** does Smith get so much playing time over Narvaez? Narvaez' skill set isn't really platoon dependent. He's going to go 1-4 with a walk against L and R pitching most nights.
  10. QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Jun 20, 2017 -> 08:27 PM) Holland has to go. Trade them all! I'm getting bored we need to get Lopez and Rodon up here.
  11. WTF was Holland doing there? It's Mauer bruh.
  12. Jose has actually been playing a decent 1B the last month.
  13. Hanging slider, right down the middle and a whiff. Now that's the Avi we all know. Uhg.
  14. QUOTE (iamshack @ Jun 20, 2017 -> 08:16 PM) Oh Hawk... what he do?
  15. Renteria strikes again. What is with the Sox management and leading off absolute bums?
  16. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 20, 2017 -> 01:16 PM) I am not going to lie, I was hoping they drafted Troy Bacon for the same reason. lol, we have the best names, don't we folks.
  17. So uh, if the Sox draft Beer next year is Birmingham going to have a "burger and beer" night special?
  18. Good research but no. Sox already have too many guys that profile as 1B\DH types.
  19. Torres needs Tommy John apparently. I wonder if the Yanks would make him available for Q.
  20. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 19, 2017 -> 12:32 PM) It is based on service time, so typically it is around now, but that is for guys with no other roster experience. Because Yoan got around 30 days with Boston last year, you have to add that on to whatever the deadline is. I think Larry on SSS said it's like middle of July, which kinda sucks. Sox won't bring him up before then as I don't think they want to have to send him down for a couple weeks later in the year to prevent Super 2.
  21. QUOTE (ventura_abreu @ Jun 18, 2017 -> 01:22 PM) It is interesting to go back and read a good scouting report on Garcia when he was even younger. The ones that I read thought he had a floor as a utility player because of his speed and defense, but they held thought his ceiling was high as they thought he might be able to hit really well. Of course, they thought it way to early to tell exactly how good of a hitter he might or might not be. I know Darren Jackson knew him when he first came to the White Sox; and at that time, he really thought that Leury would be a player who needed time, but that he would turn out to be a real good player. Interesting stuff. Frankly I always thought Leury's ceiling was utility guy. He looked like he was going to get the bat knocked out of his hand early in his Sox career. But much like Sanchez he has improved his hit tool to the point his floor now looks like utility guy. I agree his early scouting reports don't seem so far off now.
