8/28 7:10 PM White Sox (Danks) v. Mariners (Walker)
QUOTE (Soxfest @ Aug 28, 2015 -> 09:17 PM) Soto continues to outplay Flowers everyday. I forgot to mention it in my write up from Safeco but Soto has at least partially gotten over his yips. He doesn't do nearly the amount of crazy gyrations, plate brushing etc he used to do. In fact one time Danks wasn't ready for the ball and he even was able to hesitate and throw a nice ball right back to him.

White Sox Futility Under Williams/Hahn/Ventura
QUOTE (Flash Tizzle @ Aug 28, 2015 -> 08:45 PM) Just put it in this prospective -- remove yourself from being a White Sox fan. Look at the teams from 2009 through today, and decide how you would guage the results? I'd say most, if not all, would conclude that management did a horrendous job. They were unable to sustain success.....or failure. So what was left was a perpetual cycle of mediocrity. They haven't been mediocre in awhile. They've been bad. Most stretches of bad this long get a GM fired. Or, you know, at least a manager.

Micah Johnson back at AAA, expected call up in Sept
Who is the replacement? Literally anyone. Ramirez has been below the definition of replacement level this year by a good amount. Just throw any AAAA guy in there if you want to go cheap. If they think they are gonna contend then find someone that could possibly give you 2 WAR but replacing his production? Shouldn't be a problem. I will say it would be the most Sox thing ever to rush Anderson based on a hot spring. God I hope that doesn't happen. Would really like to see him get another year to refine everything without the pressure of the big club. They need to be patient with him.

QUOTE (Real @ Aug 28, 2015 -> 03:13 PM) KW goes to Seattle but still works for the Sox in a supervisory role. lmao. Oh man, I needed this chuckle. That would be the most JR thing ever. Hey, maybe we can move Seattle into Camelback as well.

QUOTE (GreatScott82 @ Aug 28, 2015 -> 02:50 PM) This. KW has made more bad moves than good ones over the past 10 seasons. Its time for him to go. I was once a big time KW supporter but its time for a change. Things are way too stale around here. Ding, ding, ding. I loved the man, I thought he was a very good GM. Not elite, but very good. Now? I have done a 180. He is a bad GM, possibly a very bad one.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 28, 2015 -> 01:53 PM) Now that is irony. It is hindsight bias one way, but not the other apparently. You're KW fanboi we get it. What's his overall record since 2008 my friend? You are what your record says you are. Who hired Wilder? Who put him in a position of authority and then from many indications failed to see the red flags because he was a friend? KW hasn't done jack squat in over 6 years for this franchise. He ran the MLB talent into the ground and he ran the MiLB talent into the ground as well. There is no defending him. Unless you believe you get a lifetime pass for from what is looking more and more like a complete fluke of a championship. Ask Ben Cherington how that works out for a franchise that doesn't overvalue loyalty to the point of absurdity time and time again.

QUOTE (Dunt @ Aug 28, 2015 -> 02:58 PM) Trayce has also been worth 2.5 more wins than Avi over the course of their respective major league careers thus far. So there's that. no kidding. At some point, you play production until it doesn't produce. There are literally zero good reasons not to play him the rest of the way and see if this is a mirage or what. I mean the guy had a ton of pressure on him to become the last brother to play at the highest level. Now that he's here, maybe his nature athletic ability is taking over. His bro, FWIW, had a semi serious tweet last night, and this is NBA All Star Klay Thompson, saying that Trayce might actually be the best overall athlete in the family. Ride this wave, ride it.

Goodness this idea that KW personally led the charge for JA and he has a "great eye for talent" has taken on a life of its own. You are what you record says you are and KW's record is mediocre at best. And, furthermore, with a severe downward slope at the end. KW likes a lot of players. Just because he urged the signing of JA doesn't mean he has a great eye for eye talent that is hindsight bias. His overall record on acquiring talent is mediocre at best. If you scout enough players eventually you might get lucky and have one pan out but Tyler Flowers can run into a fastball too can't he? Doesn't mean he's overall a good hitter. He is also the man that hired the people behind the latin america fiasco. He is the guy that wasted a draft pick on his son. Forget KW.

Play this kid. As I keep saying, he has athletic greatness in his genes. I'm not a big believer in that sort of s*** but when literally your entire family is involved at the highest level of sport you might have something going for you. Plus, he's hitting the piss out of the ball. Let him play until he fails. No reason that Avi and Melky and Eaton can't get 1 or 2 day offs a week in Sept.

Micah Johnson back at AAA, expected call up in Sept
Wait, people are seriously saying the Sox should pick up Ramirez' option? That's just crazy talk. He'd be lucky to get a 1 year deal at 6 million on the open market let alone 10 million. 35 year old SS coming off a negative WAR season, come on folks. The vast majority of his value is tied up his defense and there is absolutely zero reason to believe he's suddenly going to pick it up again at 35. Check his defensive metrics this is the 5th straight year of decline and this year he fell off a cliff he's 2 runs above average. That's not even close to good enough with his bat.

And that's a White Sox Winner !!
QUOTE (BlackSox13 @ Aug 27, 2015 -> 11:49 PM) Barring fatigue or injury I see no reason to shut down Rodon for the rest of the season. I think the Sox should go to a 6 man rotation once Erik Johnson is called up in September. Carlos is sitting at 112.2 IP so there's plenty of room for him to pitch the rest of the season. Keep building up those innings Carlos! Yea but including spring and AAA he's at about 130. As I said, let him make 2-3 more starts and then shut him down. I see no reason to push him much past 140 or 150 this season. He hasn't needed to build arm strength so much as become more efficient and he's done well with it. Respectfully disagree with you here. The season is over as far as playoff aspirations it's time to protect some assets.

And that's a White Sox Winner !!
I would say Rodon's season has been a success so far even relative to the high expectations. He's made a lot of improvement on his changeup and his velocity has been sitting 93-96 just like before his stock feel in the draft when it was 91-93. Don't want to jinx it but he probably makes a couple more starts and they shut him down. Hopefully for Johnson.

8/26 vs Boston Red Sox
QUOTE (Lip Man 1 @ Aug 26, 2015 -> 11:32 PM) 18th time the Sox have held an opponent to three runs or less and lost. Mark which ones are those the 60 you're gonna lose or the 60 you're gonna win?

8/26 vs Boston Red Sox
QUOTE (SCCWS @ Aug 26, 2015 -> 09:57 PM) Boston lineup had a bunch of players that were not on the team in June. But they took 2 of 3. I'm shocked people still think these games matter for the playoff hunt and that the Sox are going to win like 20 of 25 or some s*** and finish with 87 wins. Uh, that ship has sailed. This is a mediocre team at best.

8/26 vs Boston Red Sox
rarely been as disapointed about a guy as Avi this year. Just no development. Viciedo 2.0 at this point, plenty of tools, no real ability to consistently lock in the strike zone or catch the ball.

Micah Johnson back at AAA, expected call up in Sept
QUOTE (GreenSox @ Aug 26, 2015 -> 05:40 PM) Second base. Zero value? He's not declining. Why in the hell would you do anything to mess up Carlos Sanchez right now? Micah can DH 2-3 times a week and play 2B once or so.

Some quick observations from the Sox dugout at Safeco
QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Aug 25, 2015 -> 10:30 AM) You are a true Sox fan. I did get to see the Sox in 2005 when they played in Seattle. Honestly the Jose HR made it. He's a great player and a great guy and it was amazing to see the Sox fans in my section stand and cheer the guy. Jose signed for me in spring training last year before anyone even knew who he was he's so easy to root for. I'm a kid that had big league aspirations and topped out with some high juco offers that settled on my academic DIII school. The closest I get to the bigs these days is getting a nice seat when the Sox come to Seattle. I love athletics and I love seeing how these guys act up close. I saw Chris Sale his rookie year in Baltimore that was right up there with any experience I've had a park. That same game Viciedo started at 3B if you can believe it and hit some absolutely vicious pulled foul balls. I predicted based on that game he'd start at 3rd and be a long time fixture. lol, hence my grain of salt.

And That's a White Sox Winner !!
QUOTE (pettie4sox @ Aug 26, 2015 -> 12:16 AM) greg there is no reason for these half empty shenanigans. I'm sure they'll get the book on Thompson before long but hopefully the organization actually produced a player that can f***ing adjust. He's show a quick bat so far despite his big frame. Hopefully he's one of the rare Sox prospects that is better suited to the MLB game than the high minors. He certainly seems to have an idea where the strike zone is. That helps.
-
And That's a White Sox Winner !!
QUOTE (SouthSideSale @ Aug 26, 2015 -> 01:04 AM) How is his arm strength? Sure would be nice to have a position player develop for once. I could see Sanchez and Trayce starting next season. Sanchez is now into positive WAR territory. He's absolutely earned the starting role at 2B headed into spring. If the ORG can bring in someone on the cheap that is a 4 WAR player well hell in that case forget Sanchez, but when that doesn't happen, start him. He's earned it. If he was more highly touted we'd be ecstatic about a slick fielding 23 year old 2B that seems to have a little pop in his bat as well. He's never gonna hit more than 270/320/400 but with his glove at 2B that's an above average starter in today's game.

And That's a White Sox Winner !!
QUOTE (greg775 @ Aug 26, 2015 -> 12:37 AM) Thompson, please be for real! Just think if Saladino, Sanchez and Thompson all start next year and all hit about a buck fifty the first month and a half ... such is the life of a jinxed White Sox fan since 05. At least if it happens it's guys the org developed, that cost nothing, and are club controlled. Personally I think both Sanchez and Saladino have at least proven that their floor is very usefull utility guy. Sanchez is quietly putting together a very good 2nd half and Saladino continues to absolutely pick everything at 3B. I don't believe his defense is 4 fWAR good, but it might be 2 fWAR good. That covers a lot of 1/4 with a double nights.
-
And That's a White Sox Winner !!
QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Aug 26, 2015 -> 12:25 AM) I think he's handled Thompson very well, IMO Thompson comes from a family of elite athletes I'm personally not worried about his confidence. Hell, he's the rare kid that made it all the way from HS draft pick to MLB player in the Sox org. He's brimming with confidence let him play everyday the rest of the way. Melky, Eaton and Avi should each be getting a day or two off a week at this point.
-
And That's a White Sox Winner !!
QUOTE (Lip Man 1 @ Aug 25, 2015 -> 10:26 PM) This kid needs to be playing every day. Move Garcia to DH and bench LaRoche for the rest of the season. Just my opinion. Mark I don't think you'll find a single person here that would disagree. Too bad the Sox will never do it. RV and the ORG will ride LaRoche to the end. If only the kid Thompson had half the leash against RHP that La Roche had against LHP through July. Good to see most of the contributions coming from guys that are young and will be here next year. Ramirez is dead to me. I appreciate his time but this season has been a train wreck, even with his improved 2nd half defense his bat and overall production has been brutal.

8/25 vs Boston Red Sox
So sick of Ramirez. Just DFA him so he can go to a contender for the last month. FFS it would be nice to let Saladino or Sanchez try out SS for a month see if they can handle it.

Most hated player in White Sox history
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 25, 2015 -> 10:34 AM) Bingo. Being frustrated that a guy sucks is one thing. Hatred belongs to a special group of guys who really deserve, such as the wife beaters and general scumbags. Nah, I can hate Kirk Hinrich and Gordon Beckham for what they represent.

Most hated player in White Sox history
QUOTE (raBBit @ Aug 25, 2015 -> 01:45 AM) This. Billy Koch and Royce Clayton definitely get honorable mention. I've met AJP three times, and he is by far the worst professional I have ever met. Ozzie's presence didn't make me feel uncomfortable like AJ's did, but he'd probably be second worst on behavior. I believe it. The same edge that allowed guys like AJ and Ozzie (middling athletic ability by pro athlete standards) make it in MLB is the same edge that makes them complete assholes off the field. Sometimes the guys that scrape by the whole way are those with the biggest egos imo.
