  1. Yea I expected more from him based on the scouting reports. He was overmatched even against mediocre RHP. Fun guy, fun story, not a MLB at the moment and probably never is.
  2. Mariners have underachieved to this point but should be a 90 win team on paper. Cleveland feels solid to me. Yankees are very good. Rays are good. No elite teams but there's a few good ones. Texas has been playing well I'd put them into a similar pool as the Sox, probably not a real contender but could threaten 86 wins if everything goes right, so a 2nd WC type team.
  3. He's just a platoon bat tho against LHP and we have a better one (Grichuk) of those. If Acuna is on the roster he's the backup CF. They don't seem to trust Hill that much in CF, so he's superfluous with Grichuk imo. I'd cut Acuna personally but it seems like they aren't going to do that.
  4. Yea I don't know what purpose Hill serves. Seems like a good clubhouse guy but can't hit a lick.
  5. Felt like not being able to make that play (granted a tough play) yesterday was the end of Nishida. Can't be a 4th OF without absolute elite defense as a slap hitter. That might be his only taste of MLB in his career but at least he got it.
  6. I said last night a cup of coffee, or like 150 PA from August on would be fine, but this is fine too. I don't think he has too much left to prove in the minors, and maybe working with a talented group of hitters in Chicago will do more than anything else.
  7. Who's the random lefty reliever getting DFA off the 25 and/or 40 man today? As for Braden, he can clearly offer more than Nishida. Can he offer more than Perreria? That I don't know and it's a bit puzzling to do this now unless Perreria had another setback, we'll see.
  8. Much easier to work on swing plane down in AAA than coming up into a pennant race. I certainly hope we stay in contention all year but it's more likely we fade and he can come up with little pressure in August or so and get a cup of coffee before breaking with club next year in what we'd expect will be the first contending year should offseason go well for us and league. Can't believe I just typed that but in a world where the payroll would jump to 170 million next year adding 10 WAR on paper would be easy either by taking on money or FA signings or both.
  9. I'd rather sell Peters, Grichuk and a bullpen arm and get back a back end top 100 type. 2/3 the AL is going to think they are in it. It's going to be a seller's market and there's no real reason we have to pretend we're a 90 win club with a few additions. This is from all available data a 78 win club (I mean good job just getting to that point already) that for the first 1/3 of the season played like an 88 win club. No shame in that, but lets not fool ourselves. The best mid or late summer news this team can give its fanbase is not a big trade, but a Mune extension.
  10. Seeing it more and more as guys seek max extension. Need a super compact and coordinated lower half of the delivery. Easier for some than others, like Noah for example is all over the place lower half and leads to leaving a lot of balls up and outside to RHB especially.
  11. They ran into a garbage pitching staff during a weekend it was 85 and the ball was flying out of the park. I mean, we'll benefit at times at home from the warm summer as well but this was a recipe for them to get right and they sure did. We have (so far) walked 15 guys this series. 15.
  12. ur not wrong but people will argue otherwise. oh well. the pitching being top half was fun while it lasted. firmly a bottom 3rd rotation and mediocre at best BP.
  13. I am so fucking ready to see Kyle Teel instead of Romo.
