Our season hangs in the balance? We're 97% odds to make playoffs. There is nothing in the balance other than a 1/100 year type collapse. Win 3 games and we're almost assured playoffs. Win 4 and we've got 2/3 odds at a division title.

Even before the injuries Moncada wasn't the 5 tool guy advertised imo. He was just an overhyped prospect. He was not a #1 overall 70 FW guy in hindsight. Much closer to 55. If not for the bad back he probably would have had a decent career but not a superstar at all. Solid regular type maybe an All-Star season a couple times. Vargas does a lot of things adequate to very well. He has a pretty high floor imo going forward.

Mariners have been historically awful in the 2nd half, their SB Nation site had a really good piece on how badly they've underperformed. That said, they should be highly motivated to beat the Astros.

Riley Greene runs like jimothy and hasn't ever been an "elite" CF, he's not even playing there anymore and has already been moved to his retirement home in LF. He's a good player for a longer track record than Vargas but he's also limited in ways Miguel is not. Riley's value is almost all in his OBP, Vargas contributes across the board and is still improving at 3B. I'd think most GMs would prefer Vargas for 150 million over the next 6 years.

There is a massive storm brewing off the east coast that is expected to bring heavy rain to the NE over the next week. In a worse case landfall situation the entire Red Sox Tribe series would be in danger. I have no idea what would even happen if they couldn't get a game in. I'd imagine they'd have to make it up ASAP with a double header, but what if they can't even get a single day they can play in? Would they move it to Toronto or something? I have no fucking clue.

I mean he was tolerable in Seattle this year, not like great, but decent enough to trot out there with the "piggyback". If he sucks next year just cut him around the deadline. He certainly isn't going to trigger his option as the mop up guy prior.

I think 5/140 with some club options at the end or 7/160 with an opt out after year three would get it done. Obviously the first option would be better. Success and a disappointment in the end would both be accurate imo.

Some really impressive performances. Colson at 3.0 fWAR for 14th overall among primary SS is fun too. All these guys have their best years ahead and maybe even Grichuk too if the Sox can keep using him so smartly.

grade three is off bone and surgical. it would be a perhaps career altering injury. best case is grade 2 and a timeline similar to when robert tore his hip.
