well so far he's shown neither control nor elite changeups. 4.4 walk rate in MLB per 9 and -.4 runs on his changeup. I root for the guy, hope he can succeed, but his profile has a sliver of an opening to success.

Everything was fubar for him this year starting with probably over training in the offseason and then ramping up too fast for the WBC. Teal is a very intense guy, I think he was desperate to be a part of this team and maybe was just squeezing the bat, his body and his mind a little too hard. You guys are dogging that video of him on the training machine but that machine is designed to safely test forces, the machine gives way, the ground does not. That training had nothing to do with his injuries. Adding mass and ramping up too quickly and just bad luck was the cause.

Why? He was replacement level before the injury. He hasn't thrown a ball in anger in what, 15 months? There is zero reason to expect him to contribute anything this season, and not much optimism beyond it, unless somehow he starts throwing 94-95 instead of 90-91.
