The team wasn't expected by most tuned in folks to win 90 games, but they came out and went what like 3-14 right off the bat to end any chance of a 85-88 win season even before school let out for the summer. From that point on it was pretty much just a death march with an in over his head manager, poor performances, general dysfunction and so on.

There's not much else to do other than send him down for a couple months and bring him back up late summer and hope he performs then. You can't roster a DH/1B with a 500 OPS. The season is like 1/5th over now and he has a 42 wRC+ as a guy with absolutely zero value elsewhere.
