  1. padres are valued at about 1.8 billion, Sox about 2 billion. to the degree one club is "small market" it certainly isn't the Padres here. SD spends and if it doesn't work out they retool. It's fun at least. Is it sustainable? Eh who knows, but at least they go for it.
  2. I'd be curious to know how much of this is player driven, if at all (can't stand the cancer team mates) and how much is FO collusion. Collusion makes zero sense, so I think it's player driven. Nobody wants these douchebags around for 162 days of their work life this year.
  3. Exactly. They might not want him now. Just wait until some contender is under-performing in July and has two long term injuries to their rotation.
  4. Who cares, do it. I DGAF about his off field s%*# anymore, we just need all hands on deck for flip candidates. We're going to be nose blind to the stench of this team by June anyways so what's a little more odor?
  5. I'm rooting for him. He was a good soldier here. Never lived up to his billing, but he had some good moments.
  6. Dare I say it, but the SP might just be "bad" instead of "god awful". Crochet looking healthy and effective is a nice boost.
  7. Eloy is only a 2 WAR player if he plays 200 games a year. He’s closer to 1 at the moment. He’s a bust imo. Sox failed to develop him at all with a position defensively.
  8. OK, well who fucking cares? He had a FIP over 6 last year. Maybe some tough love is what he needs. Like, I get this is going to be a hot topic because we have little else to talk about other than how bad we're going to suck -- but the pre injury Kopech that was a top 20 prospect in MLB isn't walking through that door. At this point, he's JAG.
  9. Really puts his ass in the jackpot.
  10. It's also a bad combo as a starter. He's shown zero progress as a starter. He's no longer that young, has a bad injury history and who knows, maybe he asked for this move.
  11. Given how bad he's looked it's not surprising. Let him try closer.
  12. In aggregate the list @Quinposted is not however. It happened so much with so many types of prospects that there's something going wrong.
  13. arguing over specific tool grades is very 2017 imo.
  14. That's a lot of ground covered. Not sure the Lynn and Kelly deal says much about this one and vice versa. In general, don't think there is much to say one deal is better or worse than the other at least in aggregate these deals should restock the farm. Someone said at least this year we're going to be bad with an intriguing farm. Hey, soft bias of low expectations and all but at least Getz is pushing the rock the right way.
  15. I was just about to come here and say it makes perfect sense now. At least spend a LITTLE money you just saved on Cease. Thanks to James for the scoop.
  16. My how the turns have tabled for Keith on Soxtalk.
  17. We're so far away it's best to just stockpile whatever we can, wherever. The reliever they got back could probably be flipped for a C+ type if he stays health. It's a fine trade. It's one of about 18 month's more of solid moves that might have the Sox doing something in 2026.
  18. Burger is the versatile plays bigger than his "off the bus" profile would tell you that they hope Vaughn can be. The Burger trade was fine, the were never going to pay him, but yea -- would anybody b**** if they announced KW as some "director of athletic scouting" or some s%*#? That's about where I'm at with it. And obviously whoever advocated for Colson needs to be elevated.
  19. I might have agreed with you a few years ago but it seems like the MLB landscape has changed with teams still finalizing things well into March and real value moving and being signed still. I'm not sure the market would be any better in July than it is now. Teams now realize you get more utility making this trade to win now in March, than you do in summer. I've argued differently prior, so I'm probably just full of s%*#. But it sounded good.
  20. I like his profile stats wise, but it's a bit alarming the same franchise that went with Andrew Vaughn as slugging 5-10" (not even just height, but lack of overall explosion) 1B and Nick Madrigal as once a generation .380 BABIP guy also thinks this kid is a (relatively) undervalued commodity. We don't do well with diamonds in the rough. Hell, we turn diamonds into coal quite often or sell it for .50 on the dollar too early.
  21. Imagine if that stupid f*** Hahn, managing for his job, had delivered that bad news to JR and started at least rebuilding a bit last offseason, and then JR, active, good owner that he is, was like "ha, you played yourself goodbye thanks for a headstart on the next good Sox team" and then hired an actual good outside GM to run the club? Keep imagining. Eventually you'll land on Sydney Sweeney in bed begging you to motorboat her.
  22. Don't think I can. I know that the first vote for a B was mine and then SS2K was the first C. After that no clue.
  23. I actually think it's a bad deal for them. They aren't in a spot to be trading for Dylan Cease imo. They should have just signed someone imo.
  24. Yea, and also there are people that always insist you can only judge a trade a few years down the line. Well, you can do that too, but that's boring.
