David Sandlin - have we found yet another ace?
LOL @Quin locked the Robert thread and you jabronis just carried it into the Sandlin one. Water under the bridge man.

Jacob Gonzalez called up, per Passan
it would def be nice to be able to DH Colson and Vargas a bit and keep them fresher. Colson especially is playing his first full MLB season and he will wear down at some point this summer I'd imagine.

I mean the EVs speak for themselves and as I posted in the minor league game thread, his swing is now transformed. He was a slap hitter with almost no real load mechanism when drafted, now he's got a big load and big EVs. He's apparently capable of playing a passable 2B, 3B, SS. Sounds like Acuna's days are numbered. Hill can be the emergency CF.

5/29 6:40CDT Motor City Kitties come to Chicago
Looks like we're using an opener. Tigers offense is not good, maybe it will work out. Here's hoping.

Fedde for us. Melton for them.

Will Venable is the real deal
Well said, the bunting is a little much but we've done enough right (including usually the bunting) to just say screw it. Winning papers over everything.

The Sox stand to make money of Mune and success if they play their cards right. It's not just about being cheap anymore hopefully even old ass JR realizes that.

Will Venable is the real deal
I wanted to give this guy his due. We've had a lot of really s%*# managers lately. Maybe they were good at good at one thing, or even a few, but they weren't good at managing the clubhouse and getting the most out of the role players. Now clearly some of that is just luck, but Will is the type of guy to PH three straight times into a HR -- you gotta respect that sort of roto managing, but he's also far from a nerd in other ways like emotional IQ: Handles the media: Protects his young starter pulling him at peak success then has a great answer in the press, just perfect. Today, had one lineup ready to go then quickly adjusted it fairly optimally when their starter was scratched. I thought he did a great job last year too managing all the youth coming in, this year he's got a foreign import star, a half dozen guys under 26 otherwise to try and play everyday and a deep bench -- he probably thinks it's easy mode. He's doing a good job making it look that way.

5/28 Games
I really wonder if they could do a deal where we send out Beni, 5 million and some team's pick of our back 15-20 type prospects and then a lotto ticket. napkin math says we still owe him like 25 million (puke) so even that seems a stretch. There's no world in which we eat all the money imo. What a horrific deal by Hahn, you just can't explain it, never made any sense.

That ball was out in like the old Ebbets field. 108+ off the bat. I don't know how he's done it, but if you look at his swing it's transformed. Maybe it doesn't work in MLB but dude was a slap hitting shitter coming into pro ball and now he's like a legit big load big power lefty that also can play a solid middle infield. Tickles me pink to see another lefty slugger (for now at least) coming up. What a great time!

And that's a series winning 6-2 White Sox Winner!
Grichuk has .5 fWAR and played a competent RF today. He's going nowhere, well earned his spot for now. Hayes, eh, we'll see if he ever gets healthy. Acuna has negative WAR, he's not really a backup CF defensively and I believe has an option year, send him down when Gonzo and/or Montgomery come up.

5/28 Games
Sadly I think Bonemer is going to end up as bait in a blockbuster assuming the team enters 2028 expecting to contend. But, we have a such a glut of players here that we can certainly absorb losing him, even if he turns into a 4 WAR player as you noted, for now we (crazily) have a few of those types. In more immediate concerns, how much longer can you really keep Gonzo down there? Two weeks? If he keeps hitting even anywhere close to this he can probably help us as our weakness is backup SS general utility infielder. We're at the point where if we keep around .500 we need all hands on deck. They brought up Sandlin suddenly so it seems the Sox are thinking similar.

David Sandlin - have we found yet another ace?
He's swung and missed a bunch but you miss 100% of the shots you don't take. Things are going to get tougher as we won't have the ability to churn so many 40 man candidates and have the first overall rule 5 pick anymore but he's done exactly what you'd want in a rebuild situation.

Twins at Sox 5/28: Thursday Matinee 1:10 CDT
I'm still pissed that being out of challenges apparently means nothing as you can just request one. Then they reverse an obvious tie. We fucked up in our own ways but umps did us no favors.

Colson and Mune passed him in fWAR today. Haha.

Munemania: AL Rookie of the Month of May
Was just about to post that. Incredible.

David Sandlin - have we found yet another ace?
Like the optimism but I'll be happy just getting 3 of the first 4 in. I have a feeling Vargas gets snubbed.

David Sandlin - have we found yet another ace?
I would settle for a solid 2-3 WAR starter that can give you around 150 innings at league average ERA for a few years. Just not having a flame hole every 5th day sometime soon will be another step forward for the club. Right now we just need one more guy to step up.

Lately it's been April so we'll take it.

Sweet, a client just found out I was a Sox fan and gave me two Teel rookie cards, it's all coming up Sox!

Tigers stink. We need to at least take 2/3. Too bad Fedde starts us off. Tigers just put Jansen on the IL. He's been awful but they are super thin pitching wise right now.

Davis is doing his post gamer in a white oxford and a sport coat, looks good.

Gleeman: Twins have now lost 9 of their last 10 games vs. the White Sox. In those 10 games, the White Sox outscored the Twins by 34 runs.

Got this one done early. Guys earned a nice free afternoon and evening before Detroit comes in tmr. Fun fact: Davis Martin is 8-1 with a 2.00 ERA.

I mean it was inches away from being a 2 run game with trying run at plate twice. But, in the past now.
