6 months ago we figured Acuna would be our starting CF and probably about replacement level. Things can chance fast and yea you'd hate to move Vargas to 1B so early in his career but hey, we have the uber rare problem of too many good players on the South Side infield.

Bonemer is our future 250/350/500 guy in LF. With the talent in front of him that's his only option unless a bad injury or shocking trade with Colson, Roch, Vargas all with 5+ years of prime left.

He's def not a guy that stands out profile wise, but at the same time you don't want a guy that's maxed out physically either.

Yea it really doesn't decrease his value that much, and if it keeps him healthier go for it. Maybe he's plus 10 runs a season at SS and 8 at 3B, oh well.

It's the best plan long term, easily. I was against moving Colson but it's in the cards with Roch the guy here. Then you can save wear and tear on three sluggers and not lose much if anything defensively at SS. Makes too much sense.

FWIW his wxOBA is creeping up, at .311 now, he's been around .330 or higher the last three weeks. He's making great contact. Defense remains good if not quite elite. Well deserved nod and what a find by Getz, even if he regresses to just a 95 wRC+ bat, he's still a decent starting option given his defense.

I was honestly asking. We stunk at it but I'd imagine there's someone out there that could potentially contribute this season.

I don't think the Sox think he's a MLB SS. I think he probably settles in as a league average 3B, maybe a guy that hits 230/300/400 with OK defense, 1.5-3 WAR yearly. Not sure we got the best use out of his value, but I also can see why the Sox decided to make the move. Freeing up the roster spots is being proactive there and allows some flexibility as we approach the deadline.
