Not even the Sox can screw this one up. If he doesn't pan out he doesn't pan out but this guy looks like the easy choice. An average to good defensive SS that hits like 270/330/450 is a 4 WAR player. Be nice to inject that into the club in a couple years and move Colson over to 3B like Machado did.

Eh, we don't have any real superstar projections. Offense will probably be bottom 1/3, pitching bottom 1/4. Maybe we can improve to an average overall position player crop given that on paper we should have strong defense up the middle.

I just want to see some continued progress from the young position players. The pitching for now is what it is. We have maybe a couple decent 4th starters, maybe a couple solid relievers, and that's about it. Can't win much with that.

Rooting for Taiwan, US, Mexico and PR in that order.

I think the problem with Ramos is teams get a look at him and realize he's a mediocre at best 3B that can't hit a lick. There's no role for him as a backup only playing one position. He should probably just go to Korea so he can make 500K before 30 and get some sort of pension.

If he's healthy and plays 130+ games there is no way with today's ball and his swing he hits under 25. The key will be if he's 210/280/400 or closer to 250/330/480. The former is basically 1 WAR SS assuming average defense, the latter is 3+ WAR.

I only know this because of OOTP. In OOTP 20 at least you can sometimes sign a Japanese player to a MiLB contract that then converts to a standard pre arb contract. It's a bit of an exploit as the CPU usually will undervalue them in the game and not offerthem a MLB contract, so if they are not signed come December you can swoop in with a low ball.

He signed a MLB deal. A standard MiLB deal grants an international the same arb schedule as a domestic draftee I believe. But those aren't being handed out to mid 20s Japanese stars.

I thought it was just a common BP drill, work on balance. I would be fairly surprised if the Sox had him working on swing changes in February 11, but maybe they are.

last year was the first year I can remember we had multiple rookies come up and produce positive WAR that I can remember. It was quite encouraging even if we have a long ass way to go. At this point I'd give credit to the players themselves and the new coaches. Hahn showed no ability to nurture talent. He put together a league worst coaching staff in hindsight, at every level of the org seemingly.
