  1. if by that you mean 50 feet to his right sure. God damnit TA, put that in your pocket. Nice play Jose.
  2. I love Moncada and he made some huge defensive plays yesterday but he looks fucking awful at the plate.
  3. Honestly it wouldn't have been a bad time to see what Collins could do. It really pisses me off how they've used (not used) him the last 1.5 years. Brining in that fat fuck whose name I already have forgotten and giving him all that time last year instead of Collins was so dumb.
  4. They gave him enough playing time to "get right" and he never did. At least this probably indicates he's gone this offseasn.
  5. If eloy has structural damage in his foot/ankle than playing on one leg isn't going to do anybody any good and could lead to long term problems. This isn't a time to be a tough guy. Other guys will have to step up.
  6. The ESPN crew, in a rare moment of useful information, said he looked quite gimpy pregame. He might be ready in a week or available to PH only.
  7. For all his bluster hawk had some great truisms including "your bullpen is only as good as your offense". As a general rule that usually plays out. Helluva lot easier to hold a 4 run lead than a one run lead.
  8. TA and Athletics Nation are fucking amazing and deserve each other's excellence: https://www.athleticsnation.com/2020/9/29/21494677/a-prescient-tim-anderson-they-didnt-do-their-homework-jesus-luzardo-tim-anderson-jose-abreu This writing is so good: But once the count gets to 2-0, you have to put Abreu on. Or if you don’t, you certainly don’t throw him a fastball — not if you’ve done your homework. And if you do, for some reason, choose to pitch to him and throw a fastball, it had better not be anywhere in the hitting zone, let alone right out over the plate. The end result? It only took 2.5 innings for everything Tim Anderson said — so insultingly that you wanted to throw it back in his face — to come absolutely true, In how they set Luzardo up to make the start, and then trying to beat the White Sox with 95+ MPH fastballs from the left side, even in situations where literally anything else (including an IBB) made infinitely more sense. Now, none of this matters so much when your team gets “3 hits, 1 run, 9 Ks, and no one is particularly surprised,” but still...Anderson had no business saying what he did — and he had even less business being absolutely, unequivocally right.
  9. Start Leury and Engel again, don't overthink it. Keep the elite defense out there. This A's team doesn't have a lot of offense some more range in the outfield against Dallas won't hurt with all that room out there. Even if he gives up some shots with nobody on they can run them down.
  10. well to be fair maybe they can just play 60 games a year going forward might help the aging jose ? that said, Jose just mashed this year. He tied his rookie wRC+ of 167 and he absolutely mashed breaking balls for the first time in his career. His pull rate was down but his ISO was up -- that's hard to do. All impressive stuff. It's not like he got lucky, he just turned into a really good hitter, which for various parts of his career he's been. The consistency has been the problem, obviously.
  11. DGG. Designated Gatorade guy. Sorry Yolmer you can join too if you want.
  12. Awesome. Great experience for the boys. Not even Renteria could fuck this one up! And big ups to Colome he's been nails this year.
  13. I'd feel better with bummer but I can't argue against Colome. If Colome blows it it's on him. He's paid to finish these.
  14. I would say fucked is bringing the tying run the plate senselessly. Or being managed by an amoeba. Actually that is offensive to those organisms.
