  1. How did the Madrigal slappies turn this into a Madrigal pumping thread? Man I hope this dude balls out so some of you guys find another player in need of a defense force.
  2. Do we know if anybody is already down in AZ at Camelback? I'd assume there's a few heading there soon.
  3. Noticed the morning was noticeably brighter today for the first time since solstice. Crazy we are basically 4 weeks away. I hope MLB doesn't screw up spring training too much. The guys have already proven they are capable of being disciplined. Whatever they did last year with protocol keep it rolling.
  4. They squeezed that orange for all the juice and it was good juice. But going forward Hendriks > Colome and it's not really that close.
  5. I like it, signals JR is ready to roll as long as the window is open, even if it means rolling over the roster that year at the expense of some cash.
  6. Is there a team off the field with more talent...maybe...the Yankees WAGs?
  7. There's many ways to think about it but it seems like the Sox are trying to leverage the next three years and Hendricks is trying to leverage being 31 in a COVID offseason.
  8. "best pitch in baseball is first pitch fastball strike" Good advice maybe 50 years ago when most guys weren't capable of hitting a good fastball 400 feet. These guys are geared up now for heat and as we've seen the last few years the idea that you can't "pitch backwards" over and over has been proven an old wife's tale. Plenty of guys are now having success throwing well under 60% fastballs.
  9. lol, well damn. it's a good time to be a sox fan honestly. we're b****ing about shit that we haven't b****ed about in a decade.
  10. beats staring out the window (on occasion).
  11. Madrigal managed to be -4.7 runs below average on the bases. That's in 30 games. For comparison Kong's worst years were usually around -6 to 9 (nice) in 3x the playing time. That's some impressively bad base running by Nick.
  12. No shit. Kid is the dumbest "smart player" I ever saw. Guess they just give that label to you if you're 5-7" and on the "freedom fighter" color tone scale.
  13. Springer is down to Mets and Blue Jays and is seeking 5 years and around 150 million: the Sox never had a shot.
  14. Don't know much about him other than his Fangraphs but the lack of innings might be a good thing for his price and his health.
  15. Stiever is not going to get it done, but yea, I agree with your assessment of Musgrove.
  16. His stats are similar to Q's in his prime, sign me up. But as noted, what's the cost? It's too bad they already fired the Dunning bullet.
  17. Exactly. Thanks for distilling my post down to its essence. This is what adding to an already good team (that has pay roll limits) looks like. Maybe it's been so long nobody know it when they see it.
  18. Remember when Chicago "won the offseason" by getting Shark and company? How did that work out... Being "aggressive" isn't worth jack shit in itself. The Sox have had a pretty boring offseason with some pretty standard moves for a team that doesn't have a lot of cash and is entering their window. You can b**** and moan about JR's pocket book all you want he's never going to be an owner that "spends just to spend". But here we are yelling about it again.
  19. Thanks guys. Happy Holidays.
  20. Yea sure, but isn't there like a good chance the Sox will be outbid?
  21. As much as I want to believe this rumor unless like Jose is his paternal father or some shit it makes zero sense why he'd lock himself in like this.
  22. Fuck the MLB man. Fans want to see these players ASAP. Just a disheartening situation.
