  1. Ah, the soft bias of low expectations. Happy for Jake, expecting nothing.
  2. Looks nice. And a long way from Chicago!
  3. this NFT shit might be the next big craze from what I can tell. Also, damn good for Micah, had no idea this was what he was up to now.
  4. The Mariners have sort of a Cubs prior to 2016 thing going on out here where they are "lovable losers" and people don't really care if they win or lose too much as long as they can enjoy a few cold ones on a perfect Seattle summer evening and hear the crack of the bat and the calls of the venders and the smell of hot dogs in the air. Well, that's in danger now. What a moron. If you aren't a winner, you sure as hell better not alienate the fans that do come out and do watch your games -- and this includes a large contingent of Japanese-Americans.
  5. Dude I just smoked a blunt and I'm dying over here. You crack me up. Def fun to engage someone that likes to be subtle with it as they drive the knife in. What's done is done. Guilt and regret about the past are not helpful emotions. We're moving on to 2021. Rick Hahn has built or stumbled onto a monster. Fangraphs will confirm my thinking when Sox are projected for an AL Central winning 92 wins in a few weeks.
  6. Their job is to put a winning club on the field. This year, I don't care if JR shits in my mouth, metaphorically, by hiring his drinking buddy, lying about it, and then covering up the lies because as a fan? Just win baby and this squad on paper is loaded.
  7. He should do the drill where you throw rocks into the water from a boat. Gain some confidence in hitting the target.
  8. Fuck me. Still a stupid ass thing to say but for different reasons. Union should be doing more for these guys too.
  9. OH FFS. STFU MLB. YOU AREN'T supporting your latin players well enough to someone else stepped into the void (for profit of course, but nothing wrong with capitalism) that you left. MLB could have their own fund for players like this, that are economically disadvantaged but talented enough to warrant an investment on, if they had some more vision.
  10. better than what the NBA did. The MLB actually handled this decently if all these games get played. The offseason stuff -- it's baseball. Hopefully guys are training. Pitchers these days hopefully have their own networks for private high velo workouts. Nothing can simulate games anyways, camp is over rated. edit: just wanted to add to this thinking: the WBC also shows that camp is over-rated. It's not like even 20 years ago where you didn't pick up a bat or ball until about the 1st week of February and then tried to work off 90 days of rust in 6 weeks. These guys train year round now, and as Bauer knows you don't lose bullets throwing hard in the offseason in fact you condition your arm better.
  11. Edwin was a good gamble that really didn't cost the Sox jack shit even tho it came up snake eyes. More like that please.
  12. Look, at the end of the fucking day if he's better than rick (low bar, sure) in game I won't mind. If it blows up in their face and the team is 40-60 in July and he goes and gets another DUI, yea, fuck, I'll be pissed. There is downside here. But his track record is decent. He def knows people. I don't buy that he can't get along with the clubhouse because he's older; ya can't be TLR and not have people skills. Now can he apply them in 2021? Fuck if I know.
  13. If Michael wants to be a ballplayer, it's time for him to pitch. Doesn't mean be reckless with him, but it means what you said.
  14. Yea, usually starts like third week of April IIRC. I'm glad MLB has committed to full seasons for their minor leagues. Better than the NBA, that's for sure.
  15. I'm not a huge fan of the hire but unless he inserts Adam Eaton to pitch in the highest leverage inning of the season he literally cannot be a worse in game manager than Rickie.
  16. He better win that's all I got.
  17. Looks like a picture perfect mid February day in the Valley of the Sun. Wish I was there, although the last of our snow did melt today in the stronger sun. Can tell spring is coming.
  18. One day soon Chuck will somehow manage to tweet fetish porn.
  19. so much bitching.
  20. I have the NYTs sports section story clipped, that's all I have. Not a huge memorabilia guy. The best memory for me will always be leaving the bar in disgust only to listen to El Duque get those magical outs in the division series. For some reason that was the moment that I thought maybe they could win it all, and sure as shit they went on to do it.
  21. Why the fuck are we bending over backwards to pencil in some Rodon starts? He's on a middle relief salary and has a middle relief arm. Come on.
  22. Sadly many people don't consider the safety of others to your degree. And I agree with everything you wrote. If you take the precautions, and by now we know a masked up socially distanced person at an outdoor event -- is not a super spreader. In fact you could probably have 2/3 the stadium infected and you wouldn't get it because a) it's outside and b) you're vacced. The vaccines are fire. They are one of the great feats in human history. They killed COVID dead in Israel, which is a good test case for how they can work in larger western countries eventually.
  23. That point is now. We're doing a good job getting the most vulnerable vacced. Businesses are dying and losses are accelerating. We have to be at least partially open this spring and summer.
