It's a sign of progress that the org is finally able to start filtering out these guys that have maybe 1 tool at best that is MLB quality and replacing them with guys that actually have 2-3 tools and are able to contribute in different aspects to a 25 man roster. Cordell is a good example. Not a great player or even an average one, really just a 4th OF, but a legit good RF, a capable CF and a guy that can run into one on occasion if he gets a start. He can contribute to a winning club if used properly. Palka types cannot and the Sox have had way too many of those types lately.

I like'em both but Devers just has the look of a guy that is going to be a 1B in a few years. That said, Devers' hit tool is among the best in baseball. Yoan has more power and speed but Devers is just a pure hitter. You couldn't go wrong starting a franchise with either.

Nobody in the "stats industry" will claim WAR is the only stat that matters or that it's perfect. You're knocking down straw men. If you're just epically trolling kudos I guess.

quietly has turned in 1.4 fWAR. what do 2.5-3 WAR utility guys go for? I have no idea and dude is probably going to be looking for a payday come FA, he's earned it. Not sure he's really a 2.5 WAR utility guy but if he is I'd imagine the Sox will lose him if they don't trade him. Some other team will pay him to start I'd imagine.

Yup we have two legit starters at the moment. Lopez ain't it. He hasn't developed a single bit since he got here. He might even have worse secondary pitches today than when he came over. Obviously you try him the rest of the year but he's a reliever, maybe an opener, long term without a massive improvement.

his stuff looks pretty hittable the third time through. our guys are swinging for the fences every time up instead of just putting it in play. he's throwing 93 not 98.
