As soon as he wasn't ready to go after the two days off they should have just retro'd him to the 10 day and brought up another body. Especially given the lefty starters that were coming up. I feel like the young latin guys might have a bit of an issue properly reporting their pain levels as well. Yoan seems to try and play through a lot which I respect but it's OK to say you need a couple weeks to get right.

They've handled this poorly to say the least.

Unfortunately it's not something you can "opt into" as you might have a neighbor or something in the section that for whatever reason wants the netting down or needs it down. I get the frustration it's really going to dampen the experience towards the foul poles where you get to interact with the players, lean over the railing, get foul balls and ball thrown to you, stuff like that will be more limited now.

This sucks for the few passionate fans that can and are willing to take the risk but it's the right thing to do and will ensure a safe experience for all fans.

Two main questions are 1) will that power flash (doubt he ever produces a crazy line like that with a ISO of 325 but > 250 would be awesome) and 2) can he play a passable catcher twice a week until he's 30 or so? If he can do both he's a borderline star and a helluva useful player. If he hits but can't catch and is only a DH/1B that limits him but still worth rostering. If he can catch but can't hit then I guess he's the backup catcher long term, That probably is the least likely outcome.

Reading this thread is actually encouraging. It's going to be a long slog the rest of this year but if some money is spent things could look a helluva lot better next year.

I think Collins can be a 230/330/450 type at 1B/C , like a 2 WAR player. Useful guy to have on the roste especially as a lefty bat. That said this year I expect him to scuffle, something like 210/300/400 would be decent as a rookie.

I'd like him back at that price as long as it's with an understanding that 5 days a week he's the DH, not 1B. If someone wants to overpay in a trade for him so be it but given the market for guys like Bruce and Encarnacion that's not going to happen.

Yea a short season level guy with some upside. Offer Jose a 2 year 20 million dollar extension. If he turns it down he's silly.
