What does the bluff do tho? Nothing. I just don't get how picking up the option changes his value. He's probably like a 3 WAR true talent at the moment. He's being paid like a solid starter on the option years. There's not a ton of surplus value there. Getting the 1 WAR or so surplus this year from him and then having the time value to eval him and then decide on the option is how a trading club would max his value imo. Not seeing many scenarios where the Sox benefit from paying him next year, even if he comes out hot.

His trade value isn't going to magically go up by picking up the option. Just lazy reporting imo.

He has 6 years experience so I don't believe he's arb eligible, but they could make him the QO which will be around 24 million. I doubt he'd accept it so they'd get a pick somewhere around 35-45 I believe. I think you can do better trading him.

0-4 for Vaughn last night. Down to a 1071 OPS with the Brew Crew. I give him another few weeks before he's back under 800.
