FS: Jake Burger: Forgotten, but not (yet) gone
He's not in camp and hasn't played an organized baseball game in 3 years. The latest report on him is from last fall where he was unable to even play in instructional games because of yet another injury. If you go to his social media it's him travelling and having fun, probably on the last remaining of his 3 million or so signing bonus. Hopefully he put some cash away and paid off a modest house as this guy is looking at an uncertain future.

FS: Jake Burger: Forgotten, but not (yet) gone
Exactly. The White Sox seem to be indicating (by saying nothing) that Jake is pretty much done with baseball and they are going to give him his space. For his part Jake's social media is basically 90% him and his GF travelling and partying and 10% anything pro baseball related. Put 2 and 2 together and it doesn't really seem like a guy "all in" on continuing his pro career. I'd imagine he hangs around the back fields of AZ this year and maybe gets assigned to a low level affiliate where he perhaps can start to rebuild -- perhaps. There's a pretty good chance he just quietly retires sometime this summer imo.

TA is the best
not bad for youtube imo. it's not going to be some super scripted shit.

Sox vs Angels, 2:05 PM
he shouldn't be any worse than average, but at most he'll be plus a couple runs defensively. His main impact will be with the bat. If he hits 290/380/540 he's a star and if he only hits 270/340/500 he's a solid everyday regular.

Sox vs Angels, 2:05 PM
I was really drunk last night, bored, and found this long ringer article on Vaughn and how college 1B taken that high are actually good bets to overperform projected WAR based on a position neutral projection for the slot. Basically it boiled down to when college 1B are taken that high they sure as shit can hit and if they can they will be decent MLB players at worst. Looks like Vaughn will be another one.

looked it up, robert's hr would have been 68th in highest exit velocity in 2019, not bad. It's .5 mph faster than any ball JD Martinez hit last year, for example.

lol I just got back from the gym on a fairly lazy saturday and was reading the thread in bed on my tablet (it's nap weather here), saw that exit velocity and thought, "huh, that's gotta be one of the hardest hit balls all spring". I'm sure it will be, mercy.

MLB Final Roster Options out of Spring Training
Palka is projected for an 83 wRC+, Yermin 88, Davidson 93. They are certainly more similar than dissimilar.

MLB Final Roster Options out of Spring Training
Yermin is the latest in a long line of positionless AAAA types to get the fanbase excited. Oof. Davidson...Palka...Yermin. Yermin slightly more intriguing than those guys, but not by much. ZIPS essentially sees him as a replacement level DH.

White Sox Spring Training Thread
just to triple iterate that why the hell do you trade a critical backup catcher for a bullpen piece right now?

Cleveland @ Sox | 2PM CT | Whitesox.com
lol, nice edit, was gonna ding ya considering it's all of...February! In general the 40 man types and NRI will soak up plenty of ABs. There's only so many times you can swing a bat per day and all the regulars are getting in a ton of side work.

Guess Sox young core players career WAR
those are wildly optimistic but hey if Robert is a HOF'er I'll take it.

Mariners @ Sox | 2:05 PM CT | Whitesox.com
Nah, I'm just an old head that has seen about two dozen springs. The only stats I care about start in about a month.

I wouldn't give half a fuck and nobody else should either. He's a superstar projected for about 5 fWAR the only thing that matters is coming out on opening day 100% healthy.

I hope Yoan and the other regulars get their work in the next two weeks and then are mostly rested.

Yea I'm ready to fast forward a month. Only injuries can occur between now and then.

FS: An update from Glendale
Sean out there livin' the dream in Glendale. Thanks. Interesting tidbit on the Madrigal AB. His bat handling ability is starting to take on a legendary rep and he's not even a big leaguer yet. One of the more fascinating profiles of any Sox prospect ever. I still don't think he's going to hit much more than 280/340/380, at least until he fills out around age 26-27 but with good defense and the lineup around him that's plenty for now.

I hope he starts in AA and then in August gets a taste of Charlotte and then is up with the big club next May.

Sox @ Royals | 2:05 PM CT | KTXR 1660
I said the same the other day. MLB.tv could easily be making $9.99 across tens of thousands of fans that would pay for a static home plate feed of every spring game.

FS: Jake Burger: Forgotten, but not (yet) gone
1) He's under 25 2) He's got a little money 3) His career as a player is basically over 4) He doesn't seem to have a great cast around him Those are risk factors for anybody.
-
FS: Jake Burger: Forgotten, but not (yet) gone
Judging by his IG not much except spending the rest of his signing money and being a typical twentysomething. I hope nothing bad happens with him but just honestly he seems like a guy that could go down a bad path with drugs and booze.

Sox in Discussions for Moncada Extension per Y2Jimmy
Not really a cap guy Cali you'd have to ask one of our resident wonks but I'd say given how fast revenues are rising payrolls of 150 million aren't what they used to be as far as expenditures. 150 million seems like the new 100 million.

Sox in Discussions for Moncada Extension per Y2Jimmy
The Sox are currently operating like a fairly progressive, smart franchise. That wasn't the case as far back as, uh, 9 months ago when they were still trotting out Yonder Alonso in a rebuild year, with plenty of AAAA types already in house needing a look. They have gained some small amount of trust with myself and probably a few other fans. That trust can easily be lost if they revert to penny pinching or fail to capitalize on the talent they have acquired.
