  1. Now the fans have something to look forward to on opening day. Almost wish I was in Chicago now.
  2. Hey good news! Good job Sox. See, I can praise them. Eloy is trending world wide on Twitter, how cool!
  3. I own my own business. Most of the job is showing up and waiting for people to come in or asking my staff to fix something. It's a great gig. Plenty of free time during the work day. But hey keep patronizing me like you just b****ed about people doing to you. WTF some people really lack self awareness.
  4. To pass the time at work?
  5. Boy how can they lay off pitches that close!
  6. To paraphrase the great Tyler the Creator: close the computer fool!
  7. Well everybody here is a die hard dude. You think most of us when we were young Sox fans pictured this shit? Hell no. We had a decent run in the 90s and early aughts but our allegiance has never wavered even during the recent drought. We are stuck and if b****ing about it makes us more interested or feel better about the team than it is what it is.
  8. I have no idea about this post other than that it uses the software well.
  9. People always get really butthurt when anybody mentions the 2005 team and luck. Thing is, it's a compliment. You need luck. You have to put your team in a position on the win curve where luck wins you a division and a bit more (coupled with talent obviously) wins you some crapshoot short series in the playoffs. If the Sox had the amount of talent the 2005 club had more often they'd win a helluva lot more, world series title or not.
  10. The beatings will continue until morale improves.
  11. So your answer is to lay back and take it up the ass? I mean who cares about this thread on soxtalk but I'd encourage every single Sox fan to make their opinion heard via their wallet in any way possible. I'm not spending a single dollar on MLB products and Sox shit this year or anytime soon. it's really the least I can do.
  12. Are you new to the Internet?
  13. Imagine thinking that a club worth roughly a billion dollars gets to cry poor because they play in a seedy neighborhood?
  14. none of that is relevant to their revenues in any meaningful way. And oh, San Diego (you know the PADRES) just signed Manny. The Sox weren't even competing with the blue bloods. They were competing with clubs like the Sox that suck ass and have sucked ass with a tiny ass fanbase for decades. And they couldn't pony up.
  15. A fan's job is to be a fan. There's no great mystery to it. These guys are getting quite well compensated to figure out how to win. It's not any fan's job to do that for them. We just cheer for the laundry.
  16. If you go look at the 2005 club the amount of luck involved with the pitching and health was incredible. It was a well put together club and every WS winner needs luck but man that one had more than its share and IMO it really, really helped that narrative of "just one guy away" that went on and on throughout the mid aughts. In reality it was "one guy away plus historical luck". That lightning was never going to strike twice.
  17. Well now you're just picking fights to pick fights, which hey cast the first stone I get but...a well run club, like the Yankees (puke) can overcome injuries. This one needs everything to break right just to have a chance.
  18. That's where I'm at. This was a once in a generation chance to jumpstart this rebuild and almost guarantee its success by adding a 5 WAR player in his prime. That moves the needle big time. And they completely passed up this chance because of cheapness and the downside risk, which was minimal by any sane analysis. Fuck this club.
  19. you were one of the most adamant posters questioning the rebuild so if anything you've earned a "told you so" or two. That said, predicting the White Sox to fail isn't exactly 4D chess.
  20. It would be nice if the mouthpieces of the org stopped doing interviews explaining that what is essentially cheapness cost them in FA. That would help. Instead they just keep ripping open the wound and pouring salt on it.
  21. at least when the real games start in a couple weeks we can b**** about IN GAME bullshit instead of all the meta bullshit from the offseason. Same pile, but new shit!
  22. hahn is a mediocre GM at best that has been given a lifetime contract by JR. Remember when we used to hear rumors of him interviewing for other jobs in the offseason? Well those offers dried up as soon as he was exposed as nothing more than a contract guy. He can negotiate a good deal. His overall GM acumen is lacking.
  23. I read that he basically said the Sox will never sign an elite FA because they don't want to commit past a certain age, is that a correct interpretation?
  24. I always argue guys are fragile until they're not. He's had some bad luck IMO, although at the same time he's certainly earned the "injury prone" label for now.
  25. Welcome, post more, this is spot on. The White Sox have a hard on for shitty players that are incredible one dimensional. Unless he's Willie Mays in the OF you can't carry a 60 OPS+ regular.
