It's bad. They carted him to the medical evaluation.

hate to say it but that looks like a possible achilles mechanism.

I have. The mariners have more errors and are on pace to set a MLB record for runs allowed. AND THEY HAD THE CATCHER VACATE HOME PLATE AND THREW TO AN EMPTY HOME! Get back to me when our boys manage that. If you want to use hyperbole fine, just expect to be called out on it.

this is a tank year I think us fans need to realize they aren't trying to win.

I'm tired of seeing the Sox hold onto one dimensional sluggers TOO LONG. He has zero trade value now. He had some in the offseason.

So most likely four nights out of five.

Jose Abreu currently sits at 105 wRC+. That's tied for 92nd in MLB. Just the sort of production you're looking for out of your stone hands statue at 1B.

He had a great heads up play last night to get an out at 3rd. He's been much better his blooper real is now weekly instead of nightly and he's showing more confidence in his arm.

Too many automatic outs in this lineup still.

He's going to benefit from the LOOGY role next year as well.

That earned him another month of starts.

someone need to sit him down and make him realize he's a few good habits away from being an elite SS.

How did Tim make the error was it another bullshit "ole" move where he fields it off to the side and then throws on the run? That bad form is good half a dozen errors a year. I don't think he'll ever get rid of it.

Favorite Personal White Sox Player Interaction
Probably Ozzie at Old Comiskey when I was really young, like 7-8. He used to sign after the game outside in one of the parking lots sometimes and that night he was out there so my dad took me over and although I didn't get anything signed I shook his hand and all that. Very young hardly have much memory of what he said but the moment after the game has stuck with me. Not a player but after Avi laced a ringing double a couple years ago in spring training I was about 20 feet away from Steverson and asked him why he couldn't hit like that more often. Steverson never flinched, looked me in the eye, and gave a big old shrug.

Sandwiching Moncada between two awful hitters again. Turrible.

Moncada
He's rocking a 447 BABIP. ZIPS only projects him for .8 fWAR ROS. They aren't convinced. How about that juiced ball tho a guy that had never put up an ISO of over .240 in MiLB now at .248 in MLB. As for Moncada I thought for sure he was going to catch that rocket down the line. Just didn't quite have it. Still a great night for him. Hit that little squib for the single in a count he worked, that would have been a K looking most likely last year. Putting more balls in play is something he had to do (especially with his speed to 1st) and he's done it.

Umpires lately
It's been awful and has happened at critical, high leverage moments. Gio not getting that strikeout is one example but there's been half a dozen times in key ABs guys have gone down 1-2 or 0-1 instead of being ahead in the count because a ball an inch off the corner is a strike -- inside and outside. I think it was Jose that took a pitch 2 inches inside and it was called a strike. It might have been Eloy but man it was bad. I'm ready for there to be an "over rule" from the "Chair" essentially on really bad calls. Make it happen.

Last night might have been a bit of a breaking point for my enthusiasm this season. It was really deflating seeing Jay and Yonder up in so many critical spots and absolutely unable to do anything. I'll give Yonder credit for coming through with the single (for once) but when that single raises your average to .180 or so in late June that's awful. Jay looked overmatched, and old. Got the bunt down I guess and took a walk but he was never in any danger of an extra base hit. In RF he looked a big step down from Cordell. No arm as well. Giolito's ERA regressing a bit to his xFIP (and his HR/FB% coming back to earth) is expected but also deflating. Felt like they were playing in a little league stadium at times last night. He's going to have to try and get a three pitch mix going again now hitters are really sitting on his fastball and are not letting him pour it over for strike one. Needs to try and mix in changeup and slider first pitch more often. That said, that's win tonight and try and salvage something.
