you leave them down until they are out of option years or become rule 5 eligible, at which point you consider a trade. Hard part is determining when the opportunity cost comes for other guys. I mean, at this point, I'd rather see Covey than Fulmer. Covey, granted is older, but Covey is actually excelling in AAA this year.

I'm glad I unignored you this year I've had some bonding moments. That popout, that went like 20 feet high from Engel had me thinking the exact same thing. I had a flashback to many summer nights as a kid. There is nothing more little league than a shit, off balance swing resulting in a 20 foot high popup down the 1st base line. I must have caught hundreds of those in my days.

5/18 GT - Kopech, Dunning, & Cease

OK? I'm following on twitter. It doesn't change my opinion one bit. What's he going to learn in AAA that he can't in MLB? -

Kopech has a no hitter through three. 3K/1BB. There's really nothing left for him to learn in AAA, if he has good command he'll dominate, if not, he'll struggle. It will be the same in MLB. Might as well call him up as soon as the super two deadline safely passes, which I think is about two weeks from today. -

Tex throwing robbie under the bus like that is awesome. It's about time someone applied occam's razar to a PED bust. I don't even GAF that he used PEDs but I do GAF about his half assed apology in which he denied taking anything other than the diuretic. Get real. -
I shouldn't have used the word "stupid" but maybe "sub optimal". As mentioned he's already got enough money to live rather comfortably. It's not a situation where he wants to guarantee an absolute floor for his career earnings and take away that downside risk (like TA or Q or Sale or Eaton) who had never gotten paid anywhere near the 30 or so million Moncada got to come over. Maybe guaranteeing that 150 million would be tempting but maybe he'd be tempted to play a few years in the prime of his physical condition (if not quite the prime of his baseball career) and perhaps double his earnings over that next decade instead. From the Sox' POV I don't think there's any incentive to buy him out so early in his arb. Especially not until they know what the new CBA is going to bring.

Moncada leads the Sox in runs picked up on the bases (1.3), runs saved in the field (2.1) and is 2nd in wRC+ at 135. He has played 32 games and has produced 1.5 fWAR. He is "on pace" even with his injury, to put up 5+ fWAR in his 1st full season, 1/3 of which will be played before he turns 23. He's pretty much singlehandedly saving interest in this season, at least for me.

He's put himself back on the back end of the prospect map for the org. That's good. As others have mentioned he's still got a long way to go to get back anywhere near a MLB trajectory.

I like how quickly he's adjusted to pitchers trying to get ahead in the count by using his patience against him. Last night he was looking dead read fastball in his first AB, got fooled with a changeup, but he put it into the Texas pitching staff's mind the rest of the game that they couldn't just cheat and throw him a fastball down the middle to get ahead like earlier in the year. Also his strike zone judgement is elite. Sometimes, like Joey Votto or Frank, it appears better than the ump's on any given night. Agree that he's must watch TV.

AND THAT'S A WHITE SOX WINNER!!!

Has there ever been a White Sox with the power and speed combo of Moncada? There hasn't been in my lifetime that's for sure. Closest would maybe be Rock or Ray Durham. Ramirez in his absolute prime best month perhaps. This same guy also is 5th in exit velocity and has a .250 ISO on the year: -

Just watched all of Yoan's ABs. Good lord this dude just RIPS THE FUCKING BALL against RHP. He had a triple easy on that stuck under the padding play. Oh well. He is an impressive player in all ways.
