Season starts 3 weeks from today if you can believe it. Let's pass some time speculating on projections for prominent White Sox. For pitchers we'll do innings, fWAR and ERA. Position players we'll do fWAR, OPS and HR. We'll start with one of the most surprising players in recent memory: Lucas Giolito. Coming off a season in which he literally went from the worst starter in MLB to one of the 10 best. 2019: 176.2IP, 5.1 fWAR, ERA 3.41 ZIPS: 176IP, 5.2 fWAR, ERA 3.20 Going UNDER on fWAR and OVER on ERA and innings. My best guess is 195IP, 4.8fWAR and ERA 3.70. I'm expecting some regression in K/9 and HR rate. Still thinking he's going to have a very nice year and is a great 2nd starter or if you squint is a decent number 1. Tomorrow will be Yoan Moncada! Another tough one coming off a breakout.

You're very angry man about someone speculating on a message board about a player for our favorite team who is from all accounts official or otherwise -- GHOST. As for speculating based on his social media as if it's a Cardinal Sin get real: people put things on social media to share it ya know? I'm not sharing state secrets. Everything Jake has been up to is right there online for everybody's consumption. I'm going to put you on ignore and post on other topics including actually contributing to the board by making the over under projections thread. Have a great day.

Or maybe I speak from personal experience in my early 20s after suffering a career and life setback and dealing with personal adversity? You don't know me. Anyways, here's the pic of Jake from late January. How's he look? Not like a guy dedicated to putting less pressure on his lower body during his professional career as a baseball player. Probably because that career is over.

When I get back on my computer in an hour I will post a pic of Jake from late January at a packers game with his GF and you guys can tell me if that looks like a guy ready for camp in three weeks. I wasn’t going to post it but it’s clear some folks prefer to live in la la land about people and situations in life. Pic will be up in a bit I’m at the gym avoiding Coronovirus best as possible before work today

would anybody have any interest in an "over under" thread on ZIPS/FANS/STEAMER projections up until opening day? I'll make one and start with someone kinda hard and yet fun like Giolito if folks want.

What's Ed about 75? He's ready to retire from broadcasting and run for President anyways.

I said that as well the other day. If he was 6-4" he'd be a top 15 prospect. All he does is demolish baseballs. This is baseball not basketball there's no real inherent advantage in being tall. "longer levers" sure but also longer swings. Vaughn generates plenty of power.

He's got a little albert belle in that swing of his, quick ass barrel results in a lot of scorched ass balls oppo way.

also a switch hitter which yea, makes it tougher at the start.

TA, Moncada and Jose all with an OPS under .550 in spring so far in a combined sample of... 48 AB. Cancel the season.

another day with nobody hurt. knocking on wood as I type.

thanks for your play by play wallace.

Ah makes sense. Thanks been paying fairly close attention but not close enough guess I missed his 1st start. makes perfect sense then.

Looks like James McCann can unpack his bags...

Hopefully Rickie does some hitting and running this year. He's got the squad for it. You want to put things in motion, put some pressure on the D, much preferable to hit and run then bunt imo.

Not really sure the point of trying to get 4 innings out of these guys in their 1st start. would rather just have them throw some in the pen if they have a pitch target they want to hit.

Stop me if you've seen this swing before:

wasn't working for me either, oh well. Not going to have MLB.tv until the tmobile thing in a couple weeks.

Chuck was asked if he's seen Jake this spring on his twitter. Chuck very carefully said he's got a long road back and to not write him off. Did not mention any Burger sightings. You know how easy it would be for the Sox to post a video of Jake Burger taking soft toss and clear all this up? Very easy if Jake was around. Guess they could try a "deep fake".

FWIW I've been reading that this draft is LOADED with prep arms. I think it was Law that said there are half a dozen prep pitchers that would have been the #1 prep guy taken in 2019. The Sox are going to be able to target a 60 FV guy at their spot, that's fucking awesome.

OK Bubble Wrap for three weeks please.

Might be trying it out just to give Moncada a feel. We'll see.

One TOR the starter short of a playoff run. Michael Kopech come on down.

Well if playing time early is any indication the Sox are going to give mendick the nod, at least for the first three weeks or whatever. he looks alright at SS in a ultra small sample so maybe he can be decent at 2B until Madrigal comes up -- it's only going to be about 20 games. you're talking about probably .5 WAR at absolute most lost, and that is at absolute most if mendick is replacement level until madrigal comes up. madrigal is going be the everyday guy barring injury anyways for 135 games.

IKR? You're at a fucking Suns game in spring training and your son is in an ELOY JIMENEZ SHIRT and then ELOY JIMENEZ is right there? I'm not at all an athlete or celeb stan but that would be pretty fucking cool: according to that guy, it was Eloy's buddy, Aristedes Aquino of the Reds who initiated the conversation when he spotted that guy's kid wearing Eloy's jersey!
