  1. Look at the bright side, it didn't cost Quintana a win.
  2. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 5, 2014 -> 04:49 PM) What happened? Abreu diving to his right, tips the ball, bounce off Abreu's glove changes direction, bounces away from Beckham and off his glove into RF for the RBI single. Tie game.
  3. Well that ball was hit in about the perfect place.
  4. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jul 5, 2014 -> 04:40 PM) Sigh. Hung a change-up to Hart. This isn't going well. Don't believe Hahn in his wildest imagination believed the bullpen would have THIS many struggles to close games out this year, rebuilding year or not. Well yeah, it's hard to predict that your planned closer and your backup option to be the closer would both miss almost the entire season.
  5. How the Hell did Sierra get that bad of a jump at 2b?
  6. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jul 5, 2014 -> 04:18 PM) Robin is a genius, right? Seems like he pushed the right buttons there.
  7. So do we have a shot at the elusive 10 inning shutout today?
  8. Yeesh, there's one 2 feet short of the wall off the bat of Viciedo.
  9. QUOTE (iamshack @ Jul 5, 2014 -> 03:27 PM) They'll just trade some of the hitting prospects they don't need, and they'll be drafting pitching for a few years I'm sure. Still hard to see how that's a setup to a winning team in the next couple years.
  10. QUOTE (Feeky Magee @ Jul 5, 2014 -> 03:09 PM) Flicking between the hurling and this, was it nearly out? I think Abreu hit that 397. It was caught on the track about a foot from the top of the fence.
  11. QUOTE (Feeky Magee @ Jul 5, 2014 -> 01:13 PM) That's bWAR, fWAR is better and has him on pace for about 1.5. Doesn't fWAR build nonlinearly with number of innings?
  12. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jul 5, 2014 -> 10:04 AM) He'll sign. So answer the question. This winter when he's able to be traded, would you swap him straight up for Russell or Bryant? Because that's the kind of setup the Cubs are facing, needing a team to give up a talented pitcher for one of those hitters, if they're actually going to pull off a prospect for prospect swap. Personally if given the choice I lean towards the pitching but I'd be interested to see someone argue the other way.
  13. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jul 5, 2014 -> 10:01 AM) Not if they plan on flipping prospects for other prospects. But I would for sure. Flip him for pitching ASAP. Assuming he signs, would people trade Rodon for Russell or Bryant straight up?
  14. So don't the Cubs absolutely need to move Starlin Castro and like right now?
  15. QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Jul 4, 2014 -> 07:33 PM) He had a nice outfield assist and a sharp single tonight. Good start. And a homer.
  16. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Jul 4, 2014 -> 07:56 PM) http://mweb.cbssports.com/nba/eye-on-baske...carmelo-anthony Come on a small favor while I'm at a fireworks show if you're going to share a link add the title so I know it's not the Melo signs with the heat for $3 mil article.
  17. QUOTE (Heads22 @ Jul 4, 2014 -> 07:10 PM) Batting 6 lefties is crazy. Have lefties gotten a hit off Chris yet this year?
  18. QUOTE (MAX @ Jul 4, 2014 -> 03:57 PM) Is beckham a substantial upgrade for them? They're gotten a .199 average and a .527 OPS out of that position so far this year.
  19. QUOTE (raBBit @ Jul 4, 2014 -> 03:27 PM) What's the difference? US Cellular is probably the second easiest place to hit a HR in baseball and SafeCo is of the worst. Do you propose that would have no bearing on a players HR totals? Let's say that one player hits a lot of HR that just clear the wall. Another player hits fewer overall HR, but when he hits them he kills them. If the Mariners acquired the former player, that player would suddenly lose a lot of his HR and be much less effective. On the other hand, the 2nd guy would still hit almost all of his HR and might get a few more doubles even because of the extra OF space. Given the ballpark adjustments, a guy who "when he hits them, he kills them" would be a a player who might be particularly useful to the mariners.
  20. QUOTE (raBBit @ Jul 4, 2014 -> 03:16 PM) I am with you. He'd be an abject failure if Seattle traded or him. Have that many of his HR been cheap?
  21. QUOTE (scs787 @ Jul 4, 2014 -> 02:27 PM) Swaggy P? (Nick Young for those non cool kids) What is the storyline between Evan Turner and Rose again??? Maybe Thibs'll fix em. Still not giving up on Love yet either. All reports still say GS is refusing to trade Thompson, so I think there's still hope. If love was going to happen it would have happened before the draft. Once the Bulls turned their 2 picks into McDermott, that ship sailed IMO. Those 2 picks were their biggest currency.
  22. QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Jul 4, 2014 -> 12:00 PM) Say Viciedo hits 265 with 20 HRs and 65 RBIs this season, do you keep him next year and part of your young core? As opposed to nontendering him? Yes. As opposed to trading him? What's the return?
