You = Hahn. Do you heavily shop Reed, Yes or No?

QUOTE (Noonskadoodle @ Jun 23, 2013 -> 04:59 PM) You certainly should have an idea?... If you wanna ship off one of the best young relievers in all of baseball you def should have an idea of what you want in return. Top prospect....Couple top prospects...Veteran... One top prospect and then one lower-level recent draftee with potential is a reasonable price. If you can't get that, there's zero reason to trade him. -
QUOTE (Brian @ Jun 23, 2013 -> 04:43 PM) Sounds like Clippers will give Boston a first rounder for Rivers. Doesn't say that Garnett is involved. Good for Boston. Didn't the NBA sorta crack down on them trading for a coach?

QUOTE (Noonskadoodle @ Jun 23, 2013 -> 04:49 PM) Beck since returning has been the man. Seems to be squaring a ton of balls up & that shot towards CF was KILT. No more swinging for the fences for him, if he just stays locked in with his gap to gap line drive mentality he is one of the better 2B in the AL. He's probably down somewhat in the power department on account of the weak wrist as well.

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jun 23, 2013 -> 04:25 PM) The leadoff hitter typically is expected to be capable of stealing 30 bases, yeah. Unless he's on the Oakland A's. Last year, 15 teams got fewer than 25 stolen bases from their leadoff slot.

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jun 23, 2013 -> 04:05 PM) You might want to think about crossing Axelrod off that list soon. That's just not going to happen.

Of course you shop him, but you only make the trade if you are obviously winning it. The team should be paying a big premium for getting an established closer under team control for a long timemid-season. -
Not good at all Axe.

Viciedo's been right on Shields all day with nothign to show for it.

QUOTE (flavum @ Jun 23, 2013 -> 03:22 PM) Morel at .283. Not having a bad season. Got off to a terrible start too IIRC so been quite good for a while

QUOTE (Jake @ Jun 23, 2013 -> 03:18 PM) Dunn = God By this time next year, he may have a significant amount of trade value as he used to. He could also be valuable to us if we want to try to win something. Let's just be honest and hope we can find a way to move most of his contract.
-
QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ Jun 23, 2013 -> 02:58 PM) This Dunn needs to stay! For 1 more month and then maybe someone will gamble on his contract

Man, Hawk has blown 2 calls this inning. Ouch.

The statement from the government of Hong Kong is quite remarkable. "You didn't do everything correctly so we let him out...and by the way...about you listening in on our phone calls...."

QUOTE (farmteam @ Jun 23, 2013 -> 01:27 PM) Just saw some blurb that Ecuador announced via twitter that Snowden had contacted them seeking asylum. Apparently there were Ecuadorian vehicles awaiting him at the airport in Moscow. He's almost certainly on his way there.

You're Hahn, who are you looking to trade first?

QUOTE (flavum @ Jun 23, 2013 -> 02:01 PM) Let's put it this way---if I'm dealing Crain and Reed to the Tigers, I'm getting Nick Castellanos. There's no deal if that doesn't happen. So if Crain and Reed aren't enough, how do you spice it up on both sides to make it a fair deal for both teams? The Tigers are in need of big leaguers, not minor leaguers. Lindstrom as a throwin? Maybe Flowers? (not sure who they have to back up Avila and Avila's been hurt). -

QUOTE (flavum @ Jun 23, 2013 -> 01:30 PM) Infante can't play 2B forever. Sanchez is still a decent prospect. I think he'll be a good player in a couple years. If that's not enough, would you give up Trayce Thompson instead? It makes zero sense for the Sox to be trading away young guys whose value might grow with time. -
QUOTE (Tex @ Jun 23, 2013 -> 10:33 AM) Hiding in Moscow just cost you any sympathy Mr. Snowden. I am now on the government's side and want you to face trial. Let's allow a judge to sort this out. I don't know how Moscow is any worse than Hong Kong?

QUOTE (flavum @ Jun 23, 2013 -> 12:22 PM) Feel free to call me stupid, but how about this idea: Sox trade Crain, Reed, and Carlos Sanchez to the Tigers. Sox get back Bruce Rondon and Nick Castellanos, and maybe a throw in bullpen arm (Putkonen?). We give up two bullpen arms that will give them a huge shot of winning the World Series this year, and a good 2B/SS prospect for the future...plus Reed will be team controlled for a while. They give up a future closer that they don't feel is ready right now, and Castellanos, who is a very good prospect. How bad? Why would the Tigers want Sanchez? -

QUOTE (bbilek1 @ Jun 22, 2013 -> 05:09 PM) I have said this several times, but I really believe the FO may deal Reed this winter. If KW still has significant pull you know that there is a history of moving a closer when the team isn't considered a contender. To be honest, I really agree with that strategy. Reed is replaceable, whether it be Webb or a veteran signing, I don't think we would lose much considering our great track record with pitchers/closers. Jenks, Santos, Reed being of the youngin variety and Hermanson, Shingo, Putz being of the veteran route. Case and point, if next year is a transition/rebuild/throw away/retool/whatever you want to call it year, I think it would be in our best interest to sell high on Reed and I am in no way someone who wants to trade away everyone. I wonder if "closer" isn't one of those positions you're better off trading mid-season rather than during the offseason. Right now, teams like Detroit are sitting there crapping their pants every time the 9th inning comes along. During the offseason teams will convince themselves they have it taken care of with some rookie or converted setup man, and then a few will wind up in panic mode.

QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 22, 2013 -> 04:19 PM) They project the Sox winning about 10 more games than Astros/Marlins. Unless Astros play the Sox 20 more times and Marlins play at San Fran another 20 times, it's going to be tough to suck more than them. The Astros are starting to show some signs of annoying teams (like the angels) the way the Royals have done with us. They might have a chance to do some moderate winning in this season. They're still not good, but they're getting to a few teams. -

QUOTE (Chilihead90 @ Jun 22, 2013 -> 04:17 PM) Let's hope they are wrong and the Sox can grab that #1 pick! Even with large chunks of this team removed...the Marlins are really awful.
