QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Apr 18, 2013 -> 03:00 AM) His upside is Johan Santana-Lite. His downside is back end starter/long man/middle reliever. WTF?

QUOTE (bmags @ Apr 18, 2013 -> 09:13 AM) They should sue for libel. They won't win but it will still punish ny post a lot of money. The problem is the language. On that page, they Post doesn't call them "Suspects" or obviously say that they did it, they just say that the Feds want to interview them. That's notably different from when they said that the Saudi man was a "Suspect". If the Feds want to interview them, then nothing on that page is incorrect.

QUOTE (Knuckles @ Apr 17, 2013 -> 08:58 PM) Is Kepp really batting .186? Just tuned in, good to see the bats coming around. Babip down below .220

Why yes, I do generally hope that prospects get better at all aspects of their game.

QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Apr 17, 2013 -> 08:21 PM) Q last 12 innings 4 hits 0 runs. I remember this guy.

CNN just reported that an arrest was made in These mailings. Presumably that means they just mailed a bunch of ricin letters themselves, or something like that.

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Apr 17, 2013 -> 06:13 PM) But can you also agree that they are stupid. Yeah, somehow I don't think you're going to find me offering up much respect on these persons decision making abilities.
-
QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Apr 17, 2013 -> 06:08 PM) Likely intended as a message. Also, a person who does something like this has to be pretty f***ing stupid. I'd assume they'd be quite content with killing someone in the mail room and contaminating the facility where it was opened.

QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Apr 17, 2013 -> 05:58 PM) A minority of Senators killed the highly popular watered-down background check bill in the Senate. Isn't it great when every single bill requires a supermajority? If only the head of the Senate could have done something about this arcane, aconstitutional rule? Oh well. I probably would have voted against it myself if I were in the Senate. Would have voted for cloture but against the bill. Or at the very least they'd be doing something to improve it otherwise they would not get my vote. It has a number of clauses in it that make gun trafficking a lot easier, and still wasn't anywhere close to comprehensive since it maintained the "private sale (walking up to you on teh street and selling you my gun) loophole. I will express little sorrow for its failure.

Back on the pathetic media sideshow, the FBI released a statement that is probably about as close to the FBI ever gets to ripping apart a news org.

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Apr 17, 2013 -> 05:37 PM) Well, you can't assume that laws will be made to allow government to access private pictures. That's a big assumption. Right now I think most people are happy to provide their photos to the government willingly in a case like this, and if there's a certain photo that law enforcement realizes it must have, then it will be able to make the case for a warrant.

QUOTE (Brian @ Apr 17, 2013 -> 05:22 PM) When you're at the bottom of the Grand Canyon, the only place you can go is up. Technically the bottom of the grand canyon is still at an elevation of about 2000 feet. You can still go a long way down from there.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Apr 17, 2013 -> 04:07 PM) Who are the Sox two claims? All I can think of is Lars Anderson. Who is the other? Angel Sanchez?

In case seeing CNN make complete idiots of themselves will brighten anyone's day:

Pitch like you did last time Jose.

QUOTE (Cali @ Apr 17, 2013 -> 03:30 PM) The Braves are 12-2 with BJ Upton, Uggla, and Heyward all hitting below .200.... what? I never really looked before, but I expected everyone to be mashing in that line-up to run off the streak they had They had a team ERA of 1.83 coming in to today. They lost their game, and their team ERA went DOWN to 1.77. They have given up 25 earned runs (27 total runs) in 14 games. The next lowest ERA in the bigs is 2.64.

QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Apr 17, 2013 -> 03:49 PM) Eh, seems like a guy. He started 5 games last year for the Jaguars before being demoted. Was a guy who was probably on the Bears potential draft list a few years ago back when they first started really needing O-Linemen, but didn't distinguish himself and now is another minimal contract guy.

QUOTE (GoSox05 @ Apr 17, 2013 -> 02:57 PM) @JayGlazer New 5 year extension for @ClayMatthews52 for a bit north of $13 million per. Nice Any clue what that does to their abiltiy to make Rodgers the league's highest paid QB?

QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ Apr 17, 2013 -> 02:43 PM) Is it possible they leak bad information to the media to maybe make the real suspect "relax" so he's easier to catch? Is it possible bad information is leaked on purpose to find leakers? Anything is possible, but again, it's 48 hours since the things exploded. There hasn't been time for a whole lot of creative efforts involving the media. The manpower right now has to be going into processing the enormous amount of data and investigating the crime scene. If someone decided to leak something for one of those reasons, they must really have a grudge against CNN. More likely is that they actually are close to identifying a suspect, CNN misunderstood or decided to jump the gun.

QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Apr 17, 2013 -> 02:25 PM) Sure they suffer defeats. Then they come back and win. Superman has suffered defeat, he has died(and come back). Brainiac has messed him up bad a few times. Im pretty sure yellow lantern Hal Jordan also messed up Superman too. But they all come back to win. I understand Superman is a boy scout and hard to relate to, but this movie and the relaunch of his character in the DC comics is supposed to solve some of those problems. We will see. The opening of that trailer pretty clearly had some time where he wasn't just being a boy scout, he was hiding on the world.

QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ Apr 17, 2013 -> 02:15 PM) @RBecklerPSU Wow. Some people on 4chan are compiling photos of possible Boston bomb suspects. Solid, very compelling work here. http://bit.ly/XGI25h Was just reading about this. Very interesting, but the obvious downside is what happens if someone is identified incorrectly?

QUOTE (flavum @ Apr 17, 2013 -> 01:57 PM) Sounds like they have video of at least one of the bombs being placed. Hopefully it's definitive. This was a very fast turnaround between the event happening an apparently an arrest. One would think that if the police are moving like that, they have something fairly solid. I can't imagine that detailed forensics, like pulling data off of fractured chips of circuit boards and tracking them around the country, or analyzing the detailed composition of the bombs and backtracking to the seller of the components, could have happened yet.
