QUOTE (greg775 @ Apr 3, 2013 -> 03:24 PM) Thank goodness Gordon didn't catch that. Woulda been horrible on so many counts! How in the heck did the one poster know we'd hit so many HRs today? The Royals pitcher gave up a ton of HR's last year, it makes sense.

QUOTE (iamshack @ Apr 3, 2013 -> 02:58 PM) He's only 23!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Actually the recent argument has been "He's solid on defense".

QUOTE (lostfan @ Apr 3, 2013 -> 01:45 PM) Have they discovered the mass relay yet on Charon? Or rather, that Charon is actually a frozen mass relay? Ok, I'll give, is this some sort of conspiracy thing? -
QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Apr 3, 2013 -> 01:33 PM) Pendulum is swinging towards pitching now. im sure it will swing back unexpectedly again I think you're right, but of course, the presence of PED's has to factor in somewhere as biasing these swings.

QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Apr 3, 2013 -> 01:28 PM) And now with the better ped testing, the 40 homerun season is becoming less prevalent, isnt it? There were 6 last year, 2 each in 2011-2010, 5 in 2009, 2 in 2008, 4 in 2007. For comparison, there were 16 in 2000, 12 in 2001, 8 in 2002.

QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Apr 3, 2013 -> 01:25 PM) Sorry, it's a different game now. Centers aren't allowed to just camp out in the paint and block shots (Mutombo/Eaton). A big now has to be almost agile/athletic as a wing to get by today. Still, particularly when you throw in the presence of the international game, it seems like there ought to be more guys who get into the league and hold spots on the bench just by virtue of being tall. Aaron Gray still gets 10 minutes per game, for crying out loud.

QUOTE (Y2HH @ Apr 2, 2013 -> 03:26 PM) To elaborate, I find it very VERY coincidental that AT&T and Verizon charge almost the exact same monthly fees ... for everything. As do Comcast, DirecTV, Dish, etc. Outside of their special "on contract" pricing deals, everything is priced almost identically. If the largest fraction of their cost is the fees paid to the networks, isn't that exactly what you'd expect?

QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Apr 2, 2013 -> 03:19 PM) So a '12 1st, '13 2nd, and '13 7th for a year and a half of Carson Palmer, a '13 6th, and a conditional '14 7th (assuming Palmer makes 13 starts for Arizona) That pick in 2012 turned out to be #17, the Bengals drafted CB Dre Kirkpatrick with it. He appears to have missed most of the season.

The spurs are full strength? Didn't I just read they lost Ginobili for about 3 weeks? Did that happen after the Heat game?

QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Apr 2, 2013 -> 09:39 AM) There is no way this would have happened under Williams. They would have put him at AAA simply because it is a better park to hit in and his power likely would have translated better, and would have increased his value. With Hahn, he is in AA because it will give him more time against hard stuff. I'd expect a mid-season promotion. I'm really not sure this is the case, can you honestly name anyone who only got 50 AB's at BHam? If he got started at BHam hot I could buy that, but I certainly feel like they give guys a chance at AA to adapt.

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Apr 2, 2013 -> 07:43 AM) He's still missing too much with his slider. Getting behind in the count at 93-94-95 MPH will get him killed eventually. Cain swung under one of his fastballs to K, but that pitch was also right out over the heart of the plate, just high. Got away with it....and then there was one pitch that should have been on the corner that ended up center cut and he totally fooled the hitter by accident. He's not supposed to throw that slider for a strike. He's supposed to throw that slider and have it break sharply down out of the bottom of the zone when the batter is looking for a fastball or when the batter can't lay off of it.

QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 1, 2013 -> 06:51 PM) Hell yes, except I worry that winning the opener 1-0 might be a sign of bad things to come. Yeah, the last time that happened on opening day it was f***ing awful for the Sox. I mean, the season even wound up ending with a 1-0 game too! -
For those who missed it in the game thread, this happened and we all let it happen.
