  1. QUOTE (2nd_city_saint787 @ Jan 13, 2013 -> 02:46 PM) I think that has a lot to do with Clay Matthews and our inability to stop him. 5.5 sacks and 7 TFL in 2 games is outrageous. Their DBs also seem to know what Cutler is going to do before he does.
  2. One of the ESPN Bloggers ranks his "5 guys to be wary of" for 2013. 3 of them are AL Central (Shields, Rios, Sanchez).
  3. QUOTE (Brian @ Jan 13, 2013 -> 02:07 PM) KC was bad but they have Bowe and Charles. A QB like Smith would be great for them. Did Bowe sign a log term deal or was he just franchised?
  4. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jan 13, 2013 -> 01:56 PM) Packers D is pretty bad. (Unless they're playing Jay Cutler)
  5. QUOTE (SOXOBAMA @ Jan 13, 2013 -> 12:19 PM) Are Kaep, Wilson, and RG the style of the future for starting QB's? I don't think this is any more revolutionary than when Vick and McNabb came into the league. The number of guys who can both take the pounding of running 10 times a game and be an accurate thrower will always be prettiy limited. A guy might be able to be a revelation for a couple years but then have his body catch up with him and wind up forced into a pocket passer role just for survival.
  6. QUOTE (lord chas @ Jan 13, 2013 -> 12:57 PM) If Frank Thomas is not a first ballot hall of famer then i don't know who is Greg Maddux, who is going in next year and might get more attention than Frank.
  7. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jan 12, 2013 -> 08:41 PM) You can change how you spread things out to fit 3 guys. Wow...Manning picked. Then, unless they can come up with more room, Melton won't be one of those guys.
  8. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jan 12, 2013 -> 08:26 PM) They will be somewhere near 15-18M free after they cut Hester, Spaeth, and Kellen Davis. That includes Melton at his current rate. They can find a way to get 3 guys in during that situation. I'm not talking about paying a TE 5M per year. There are a lot of quality TEs out there (I'm not looking for a Jimmy Graham...give me a Dustin Keller or Greg Olsen or Finley, etc). Like I said, if Melton is an $7-$8 million player, and you have $5 million in cap holds, you have $5 million left for your TE and O-Lineman. That's filler. That's not finding a good lineman and TE, that's finding depth. I don't think that counts Urlacher either.
  9. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jan 12, 2013 -> 08:19 PM) Releasing Peppers would be a massive mistake. He makes this defense so much better and doesn't get near as much as credit as he should. Unless the Bears are moving him cause they are bringing in 2 all pro offensive linemen, count me out. Bears should be able to add a FA TE (a quality one), plus a good tackle or guard via FA, and resign Melton. I'm not certain that the Bears have that kind of cap room. If Melton is say, an ~$8 million player, $5 million in cap holds, that only leaves a couple million for the O Line and TE you want.
  10. QUOTE (SexiAlexei @ Jan 12, 2013 -> 07:34 PM) I want Denver to win, but holy cow is Baltimore getting screwed on these calls... That first drive in OT gave Baltimore a couple freebies again.
  11. They go to it way too early and it costs them...but I'll say this for Lovie Smith's prevent defense...that doesn't happen.
  12. Denver gets to complain about the refs today.
  13. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Jan 12, 2013 -> 06:11 PM) lol @ the first reply Yeah, i stopped trying at that.
  14. By the way...no, the Nazis did not ban guns.
  15. QUOTE (Rex Hudler @ Jan 12, 2013 -> 02:51 PM) That's just stupid. He's one of if not THE best defender in the country. No one is perfect and he made mistakes today, but to say is doesn't play smart is terribly inaccurate. But thanks for your valuable insight! If he wants to be the best one on one defender in the country, he can't let the defender get him up in the air outside the 3 point line.
  16. That's what the Big 10 is supposed to be. When you hammer down on a team in the first half, that just means they're going to fight you even harder in the 2nd.
  17. QUOTE (Rex Hudler @ Jan 12, 2013 -> 02:09 PM) I don't like how IU is trying to milk the shot clock every possession. That's not how you got this big lead. Playing to protect a lead often equals giving up said lead. Yet another thing on the list of items this team is going to learn before the big 10 season is over.
  18. QUOTE (Rex Hudler @ Jan 12, 2013 -> 01:39 PM) For those of you who may have forgotten or need some pointers, there is a free basketball clinic going on right now in Assembly Hall. Coverage on BTN. Great stat, first matchup of top 10 teams at Assembly since 2000.
  19. Yeah the blowout is fun, but I still like the fact that Minnesota tried to fight back in the 2nd and made IU work. This is the Big 10. Even when you're up 23 at the break, they're not going to make it easy on you. Expect it.
  20. I've got Conference finals matchups of Brady V. Manning and the Hail Mary replacement ref rematch.
