  1. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Dec 24, 2012 -> 11:37 AM) RG III and Wilson have been better then Luck. Doesn't mean they'll win the MVP or that I'd take either of them over Luck long-term, but I'd vote Wilson for MVP. I disagree here. RG3 and Wilson had better teams around them when they came in. Luck is literally all that team has, for crying out loud they gave up 500 yards to the Chiefs yesterday. Their Secondary is good enough to make Jay Cutler look like Tom Brayd. Luck's only help is Reggie Wayne, and he's literally carried that team. Oh, and for MVP, I'll take Peterson. Again, absolutely nothing around him and carrying the entire load for the team.
  2. Seriously, PER actually agrees with me? I'm...impressed.

Not a big fan of giving money to anything but will contribute post disasters. My main charitable contributions come out of my veins in my left arm. If I do my limit over a full year, that's between $1000-$2000 worth of supplies contributed to the red cross/place taking the donations.

QUOTE (Tex @ Dec 24, 2012 -> 11:54 AM) As for the political donations, well, they are deductible. They are? Serious Q.
  5. QUOTE (kapkomet @ Dec 24, 2012 -> 11:52 AM) Of course, coming from the one who can't read a cost curve on the real effect of BarackustheGreatCare. Keeping people alive? Deficits are terrible! A trillion dollar airplane when we haven't had an air to air combat situation in 20+ years? Defense spending doesn't count.
  6. Senator Michael Crapo (R, ID, Yes that's his real name) arrested for DUI last night in Virginia.
  7. QUOTE (2nd_city_saint787 @ Dec 23, 2012 -> 07:33 PM) Well down go the Giants....Hopefully the Pack don't sit Rodgers. They'd be conceding the #2 seed to the 49ers for no reason if they did so, unless the Packers/Vikings game gets bumped back to primetime and the 49ers win both this week and next (which probably is a very good reason why the NFL wouldn't put the Packers/Vikings in the night slot)
  8. QUOTE (kapkomet @ Dec 23, 2012 -> 06:11 PM) Yep. There's also a lot that people don't know about that program... but don't let those facts get in the way of a massive "boondoggle"... I know, it's like shooting 3 foot bass in a 1 inch barrel for you. Ah, the guy who yells "Stop spending!" at every possible chance coming in here to tell us how vital of a program the F-35 is.
  9. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Dec 23, 2012 -> 03:44 PM) Are they in play for the 2 seed? Yes. If they win this week and next week and Frisco takes 1 loss in there, they would be the #2 seed and have a bye. Frisco is 10-3-1, Packers are 10-4 right now.
  10. The Saints (and the Cowboys coaching staff) are on the verge of doing the Bears a solid favor.
  11. Too attractive for a single thread too, I see
  12. QUOTE (Jake @ Dec 23, 2012 -> 01:31 PM) I'm a Kirk fan but Nate is an integral piece. I also think that Kirk's role could be more easily replaced by a Teague than Robinson's scoring by anyone else. I think Kirk is more useful on the roster alongside Rose than he is without him. Kirk can't score enough right now, but that's where DR1 can fit in.
  13. QUOTE (Tex @ Dec 22, 2012 -> 07:03 PM) Too bad they couldn't get that catcher the Rangers signed . . . He would have made a nice veteran backup to Flowers. Maybe next season. The guy the Rangers signed isn't a backup. He'll be starting and he should be.
  14. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Dec 22, 2012 -> 06:41 PM) You shouldn't say things like this days after you said you haven't been watching games because Rose isn't playing A highly inconsistent guy who on most teams would be an occasional backup but who also can hit a hot streak or two and help win a handful of games, but a guy that you'd hate to rely on for an actual winning team? Especially for the money he's paid, I think that's just fine. I'd rather have him than Hinrich for this couple month stretch, not even counting who's paid more.
  15. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Dec 22, 2012 -> 06:20 PM) I admit I was wrong about Marco, he is far exceeding my expectations. I wish we would forget Nate on the side of the road somewhere. Kirk, Nazr and VladRad too I have no issue with what Nate has brought so far this year.
  16. QUOTE (He_Gawn @ Dec 22, 2012 -> 05:48 PM) Partially agree with you, but you act like this team is a finished product. Their best interior defender (Perea) is just coming off suspension. He had 10 boards and 2 blocks in 12 minutes last night. He's going to make a huge difference, along with Elston coming back (probably our 2nd best interior defender). There's still a few months left to mold this team together and I have no doubt they will, as long as they stay healthy. They have the best perimeter defender in the country in Oladipo. I don't think another guard even comes close. Hell, Brad Stevens just came out and said this week that Victor was the best defensive player he's ever seen in college basketball. with the well oiled machine that is their offense, I think there's plenty of time to fine tune the defense (which has already been pretty damn good this year) now that Perea and Elston are back. They have a big ten season in front of them. If they can't learn to play defense effectively, they're going to be beaten up until they learn it.
  17. QUOTE (kapkomet @ Dec 22, 2012 -> 06:11 PM) Whatever dude. It's not a cut if it stays the same. Quit lying... oh wait, Barackus Droids don't realize that it's all been a big lie from the beginning anyway. Seriously, you're just hilarious.
  18. QUOTE (kapkomet @ Dec 22, 2012 -> 06:10 PM) Abolish it all... because your side already has.
  19. QUOTE (kapkomet @ Dec 22, 2012 -> 06:07 PM) The one thing that people don't realize is that 2012 taxes are going to MAJORLY go up for about 50 million people. There's going to be some pissed off people who have an AMT hit all the way down to about $65,000 AGI. So much for not hitting the "middle class". Notice NO ONE is talking about this... Of course not. This is a good thing. You can use the money for upper income tax cuts.
  20. QUOTE (2nd_city_saint787 @ Dec 22, 2012 -> 04:58 PM) Well once again, I said depending on how the Sox view Sanchez. I don't follow the minors close enough to know whether or not he's ready, I just remember hearing he had an awesome year and some rumblings that he may be considered for a spot in the lineup this coming up year. AZ is pretty well stacked everywhere else, they don't need an OFer or SPs so that's the only logical trade I can think of. Looks like they can use Thornton but I don't think a package around him would be enough. Thornton+ for Parra?? The Sox talking Sanchez up was probably an effort to raise both his trade value and to help them see if someone would offer something big for anyone else in their IF. If they go into this season with him as a starter, it's a rebuilding year. At the best he should be a year away.
  21. QUOTE (2nd_city_saint787 @ Dec 22, 2012 -> 04:24 PM) I'm game with giving SS to Sanchez if they can't find anything else. We're already giving Flowers a chance to prove himself so why not Sanchez who's shown he can hit in the minors. Really all you'd have to do is find a trade partner for Dayan ahead of time (I'm sure there's been discussions). You don't HAVE to trade Floyd unless they get back a SP in the Dayan trade. Keep in mind, Sanchez is a 20 year old who has spent less than 1/2 a season above A ball. He's played less than 100 games at SS in the minors. I get the scheme here, but this isn't a setup that's going to make us better this year. You make that deal if you're getting something back that really helps long term and you can use Kubel to fill in the gap.
  22. QUOTE (2nd_city_saint787 @ Dec 22, 2012 -> 04:14 PM) Once again depending on how the Sox view Sanchez I'd def make a Kubel for Ramirez trade. Then use Dayan to upgrade at 3B/SS/2B/C or SP then use Floyd to upgrade at one of those positions. In that scenario you all of a sudden go from 2 LH bats to 4 (Sanchez is a switch hitter). Of course, my problem with this is...it's an incredibly difficult set of trades to pull off. You add Kubel, suddenly everyone knows the Sox are going to be forced to move an OF and find a SS. There not only has to be the 2nd and 3rd deals available, you have to be able to pull them off without having the price change. 3 way deals are hard enough, this one is set up requiring basically a 4 way deal. Otherwise, you have 3 consecutive trades you need to pull off. If it could be done it might work...but it's so complex it's hard to fathom it happening.
  23. QUOTE (Baron @ Dec 22, 2012 -> 02:03 PM) Yeah your scenario works out pretty well actually. Dont see that happening though. I'd rather dump Viciedo than platoon him. He's a sub-25 year old player who we're trying to develop, taking away 2/3 of his at bats might win the team an extra game or two next year, but it's going to hinder him maxing out his ability.
  24. QUOTE (chw42 @ Dec 22, 2012 -> 01:15 PM) He also got more money than Carlos Villanueva, who I think could be a much better pitcher. Of course, if somehow the Pittsburgh pitching coach could get him to consistently throw strikes, he could have an ERA under 2.
