  1. QUOTE (Princess Dye @ Apr 1, 2012 -> 05:37 PM) Is this the right thing to do with Flowers? I don't know that I see him as someone who needs "fixing". What if he's just a patient fastball hitter who has some pop? To me the main question is can he catch, and if so..I don't need major changes offensively from him. If he can't, then he doesn't play. There's still some real room for improvement offensively from him if he can slightly cut down on the strikeouts.
  2. QUOTE (JoshPR @ Apr 1, 2012 -> 05:26 PM) Was Hawk talking about Brian Anderson just now? Or maybe Josh Fields? Well, we've faced Fields this season, and I believe Anderson is still around somewhere as a pitcher, but I'm guessing that was Anderson. What other young players have we brought up since Walker was around who have completely washed out of baseball?
  3. Latos made beckham look bad.
  4. QUOTE (mr_genius @ Apr 1, 2012 -> 05:15 PM) lol. grasping. Quite simply, bull. Someone following me for several minutes through a neighborhood when they're in a car and they're not saying why they're following me...as a 17 year old, I'd be scared ****less. If that person approached me then, I'd assume they're out to hurt me. And hey, turns out the guy had a gun, so the kid had every right to be terrified.
  5. Manto interview. Says that Rios was trying to pull everything last year when they came in so they're really working on having him go the opposite way. Beckham they tried to get him to simplify things down and he feels like things have worked better the last 2.5 weeks, refers to Beckham being "Really hard on himself". Viciedo isn't there yet but needs to get his at bats in. Konerko's fine, Manto hasn't had to say 2 words to him all spring, he's a machine. TFLOW working to get off the fastball to be able to better adapt to offspeed stuff. Escobar "not trying to do too much". Peavy in a whole heap o trouble in the 3rd.
  6. QUOTE (Brian @ Apr 1, 2012 -> 01:41 PM) Teacher was a good sport. What did he do on the chalkboard at the end? Looks like some kind of stuff only Will Hunting would understand. It's in the middle of an organic chemistry class, and he treated the corner of the Z as though it was a carbon-carbon bond, so he put an H and an OH group onto that corner, with one of them coming out of the board towards the class and the other one going into the board. (Organic chem, you typically don't write out every C when you are drawing a molecule, you just show connecting lines like that. It's a decent quick reaction by him, I liked it).
  7. Konerko's in midseason "long at bat, you're not getting me out" form. And then he hammers the ball on the ground right up the middle, to the point the pitcher had to jump over it. Thing of beauty. Apparently Paulie is 14 for his last 23.
  8. QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Apr 1, 2012 -> 04:50 PM) That's instigating a confrontation? Please. Yes. An unidentified person following me around in a car would freak me out. Especially if I thought I got away and then the person re-found me. That's the kind of thing you tell a 5 year old to run home and hide with mom & dad if it happens to them. It is incredibly aggressive...and then worse if the person gets out of the car.
  9. Nice to see that the Yankees are in midseason form in terms of running 3:30 games that overrun other teams.
  10. QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Apr 1, 2012 -> 04:13 PM) I just thought it was funny you are assuming it will take him 70 pitches to get through 3 innings. That's the official statement. He's scheduled to throw either 70 pitches or 3 innings. I guess there's a "Whichever comes first" or "Whichever comes second" somewhere in there, but that's unclear.
  11. QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Apr 1, 2012 -> 03:52 PM) What, it's his last start before the actual season and he threw 105 last outing. Backing off to 70 is not out of the ordinary here, but if no one said that then everyone would assume he was hurt if he was pulled after 3.
  12. So Calipari and the best team money can buy up against Bill Self and a seemingly overmatched Kansas team that likes 2nd half comebacks? Sounds familiar.
  13. Peavy is scheduled to go 3 innings/70 pitches.
  14. QUOTE (MexSoxFan#1 @ Apr 1, 2012 -> 02:49 PM) I know we are shorthanded offensively but the Thunder aren't having any problems scoring on the Bulls D...not a good sign. The lack of Rose really hurts more than it shows when its 2 teams like this. The Thunder got out ahead early and then pushed their advantage.
  15. QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Apr 1, 2012 -> 02:12 PM) This is bulls***. Stop spreading lies. He did not "initiate conflict," nor did he admit to doing so. He didn't admit that he was following a kid around a neighborhood?
  16. Tigers named Drew Smyly as their fifth starter.
  17. This would have been a great game if the Bulls were healthy. I still expect them to start hitting a few more of those open looks at some poitn and close in a bit, but man, this would be heavyweights if the MVP were here.
  18. QUOTE (iamshack @ Apr 1, 2012 -> 01:43 PM) Do you understand that no state can bring charges against a person who shoots another person if the shooter claims that it was in self-defense and there is no evidence to refute that? It doesn't matter if there is a duty to retreat or a SYG provision. If no one witnessed it, and the forensic evidence doesn't prove otherwise, there is no law on the books that can convict this guy. Now I'm in agreement with you that Zimmerman is guilty, but he's guilty by common sense unfortunately, which only counts in the court of public opinion. Unfortunately, the police seemed to have done a very poor job investigating this incident. So there is no state in the country when the fact that he, by his own admission, initiated the conflict and then escalated it would permit a prosecutor to bring charges? If that's the case, then this should be it for concealed carry laws, because that's the other plausible step here. Take away the guy's gun.
  19. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Apr 1, 2012 -> 01:34 PM) THey have no one would can start to contain Westbrook, unless they move one of the big guards over. If they want to narrow this and have a shot, they need to contain everyone else, and just force Westbrook into traps. Hell, they have to practice against Rose...do whatever they do there.
  20. QUOTE (Marty34 @ Apr 1, 2012 -> 01:35 PM) Good question. I have no idea what happened. What on Earth do you mean? A crowd of 25k and 1/2 of them as Yankee fans, in Florida, is normal.
  21. QUOTE (iamshack @ Apr 1, 2012 -> 10:35 AM) Why do you continue to post stuff like this? I've refuted this more than once, and Jenks has done it several times. The law isn't the problem here whatsoever. The problem is THERE IS NO EVIDENCE that says Zimmerman wasn't perfectly within his rights to defend himself. They'd have a difficult time convicting this guy in Illinois, without the SYG language. There is simply not enough reliable evidence (as it stands now), to prove that Zimmerman wasn't acting in self-defense, and therefore the Prosecutor has decided not charge him. It has nothing to do with the SYG codification, nor the common law for self defense in Florida, or almost any other state (there may be a few liberal states that do not allow one to use deadly force even in the face of certain and immediate harm or the presence of a forcible felony.) If nothing else, the extra liability imposed on the state if they bring charges against people is a real hinderence as well. But there's also NO EVIDENCE that says Martin wasn't perfectly within his rights to defend himself as well.
