QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jan 6, 2012 -> 12:06 PM) Ravens Baltimore Ravens #Ravens announce Director of Player Personnel Eric DeCosta "will continue with the team and is not going to interview with other teams." Worth noting...the team actually can't prevent him from interviewing elsewhere after the Ravens are out of the playoffs. So if that's not his call, it could still change.

QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Jan 6, 2012 -> 09:36 AM) I think at the deadline Orlando will be looking to movie Howard for value, any value. A team like say, the Bulls, could say "Look, if you want to deal with us we can give you a great deal if he resigns with us(Deng/Noah/Charlottes pick/Bulls #1) or we can give you a lesser deal that is still quite valuable if he isnt willing to sign and that team(Bulls/Knicks/Warriors/whoever) can take the risk of acquiring him and making a title run and hoping to convince him to stay. I think the longer this drags out and the more DH says it is unlikely to sign an extension, the less valuable the deal gets for Orlando so they will want to figure out who gives them the best deal, Adidas be damned. If this league honestly gets to the point where shoe companies are dictating where players play, I really think my interest level will drop significantly. Someone can tell me if I'm wrong though, but I'm 95% sure that the new CBA says it can't work that way...Howard can't sign an extension until this summer, he can't sign immediately upon being traded like Melo did, so the Bulls can't make an offer that is contingent upon Howard being extended next motnh. Orlando could say that Howard is willing to sign an extension and he could leave anyway (Carlos Boozer says hi to Cleveland again)

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jan 6, 2012 -> 09:09 AM) Apparently Jay Cutler made a trip up to Halas Hall to tell Lovie and the team to fire Martz. Lovie denied that yesterday FWIW, who's reporting that?

QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Jan 6, 2012 -> 09:05 AM) At this point Orlando probably has to say f*** Adidas if they went the best deal for Howard. Can they really do that, if the deal is entirely dependent on Howard's willingness to sign an extension?

QUOTE (flippedoutpunk @ Jan 6, 2012 -> 01:01 AM) Not earth shattering, but its something i guess? Bulls Or Knicks Could Land Dwight Howard Chicago may be a logical landing place for Dwight Howard. With fellow Adidas superstar Derrick Rose a Bull, and Joakim Noah a defensive big man who could be sent to Orlando in a trade, Howard could wind up in the Windy City. Adidas would be delighted with that turn events, as the Nike rival ironically locks down the big Chicago market that Michael Jordan once ruled. The Knicks may also be in the running to bring Howard to New York. Sources tell Ken Berger not to be surprised if a trade sending Amar'e Stoudemire back to his native central Florida for Howard begins to gain traction. Stoudemire's uninsurable knees and James Dolan's willingness to sign off on a trade parting with the All-Star forward are seen as the two biggest obstacles to such a deal. It could also be that the Knicks would have to include Tyson Chandler in any such discussion with the Magic. Via CBS Sports Read more: http://basketball.realgm.com/wiretap/21808...d#ixzz1iegXf8TS Trouble is, different reports have said that Adidas doesn't want Rose and Howard in the same city since that would hurt their marketing in every other major market.

QUOTE (farmteam @ Jan 5, 2012 -> 11:17 PM) Great finish to DePaul-Pitt. IU should have won that game by at least 15. Way too many turnovers in the second half. But hey, I'll take a win. They really seem to struggle to get the ball to Zeller if the opponent turns up the defense in the last 5 minutes. Something to work on. Anyway, I'm parked 2 cars over from a car with Michigan Alumni license plate holders today. My IU license plate is smiling.

Really...the worst of it is the annual "try to kill Cutler" game. He ha his other ups and downs, but that's the thing that really gets you.

QUOTE (MuckFinnesota @ Jan 5, 2012 -> 08:45 PM) Lets hope this isn't like the Mike Sirotka for David Wells trade. Why does KW have a woody for trading with the Blue Jays? Because the Jays are willing to give up youth and take on salary. And not many other teams are.

QUOTE (maggsmaggs @ Jan 5, 2012 -> 06:01 PM) I think it's confidence and a lack of playing time. It's incredibly hard to get in a rhythm when you see spotty minutes. And obviously confidence is huge in making shots. Have his minutes really declined compared to previous years?

Another White Sox / Blue Jays trade on the horizon?
QUOTE (bigruss22 @ Jan 5, 2012 -> 05:54 PM) Maybe, but I do think Floyd could command Drabek + McGuire (it's a bit costly for Toronto but Drabek seemed to fall hard). The one thing I'd say about Floyd right now is...if the return isn't really solid, there's no reason to move him. We've shed a lot of salary already, we've cleared out the guys we needed to move, other salary might well be moveable later this season...if we can't get a solid deal for Floyd that makes us better by 2013, there's little reason to move him.

Another White Sox / Blue Jays trade on the horizon?
QUOTE (Eminor3rd @ Jan 5, 2012 -> 05:56 PM) They obviously know a lot more about Drabek than we do. I would be willing to bet that if we could get Drabek too, it's because they believe he's cooked, which may end up being a bad thing. One would have said the exact same thing about "Gavin Floyd" in 2006.
