  1. QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ Oct 3, 2011 -> 01:59 AM) He's clearly better than Cutler. A lot of QB's are better than Cutler though. The Bears were really fortunate to win today, obviously, with as HORRIBLE as the defense was. Fortunately, as good as Carolina was on offense, they made some critical mistakes in all 3 phases that cost them. It was nice to see Forte run wild like that, but I still think the Bears running game is going to have major issues when they aren't playing last place teams without their two best defensive players. This, IMO, is Martz's "Correction" game. He had one last year, against Carolina conveniently enough. Got too pass h appy, tried to get his QB killed, now needs to refocus on the run, give his O-line a chance to work on the run in game scenarios, try to come out with more balance. Having Barber back ought to really help that run game. The Bears need to tighten up their defense before the Lions though. No other way to put it. The Lions are somehow going to put 20 points on the board in the 2nd half next Monday...if the Bears have already given up 17, they're going to lose.
  2. QUOTE (GoodAsGould @ Oct 3, 2011 -> 02:32 AM) Marion Barber already proved more useful than Chester ever was, a goaline touchdown! The lack of Barber has really, really hurt the Bears in the last 2 weeks.
  3. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Oct 2, 2011 -> 10:07 PM) Price, Hellickson, Davis, Niemann, Moore. Not too shabby. Yeah, they can probably live with that. Who's next up for them in the minors as starter #6 next year should they need one? I know its the Rays so they do kinda have to go with what they've got, but having a #6 starter at AA/AAA must play into those decisions
  4. QUOTE (chw42 @ Oct 3, 2011 -> 01:49 AM) They sold low on Jackson. They will be selling extremely high on Shields, who's really not as good as he was this year. "Selling low on Jackson" still got them a near-all-star OF.
  5. QUOTE (SoxAce @ Oct 3, 2011 -> 05:07 AM) I'll give LH that (it was a bad comparison), but jumping on a guy who just pitched his first ever playoff game is way too harsh. Not every young pitcher can be Matt Moore. Saying "Daniel Hudson is not Roy Halladay" ≠ jumping on Daniel Hudson.
  6. QUOTE (thxfrthmmrs @ Oct 2, 2011 -> 06:14 PM) Our biggest asset right now is our mid rotation to back rotation guys. I think that we can trade both Floyd and Danks and still boast a decent rotation. Starting Pitchers: Buehrle Peavy Sale Stewart Axelrod Bullpen: Santos Reed Crain Humber Santiago Ohman Free agent/prospect If we have to get salary down to $90 million or below this may be the only option...but a rotation with Stewart and Axelrod as your 4-5 starters is highly unlikely to be competitive next year. Especially when you factor in the fact that Sale can't be expected to go past 150 innings even if he's stellar and Peavy might well hurt himself in Feb. for all we know.
  7. QUOTE (Tex @ Oct 3, 2011 -> 06:47 AM) It seems like y'all are being kind of unfair to the man. Y'all do understand his complaint was sitting after a good game and was kept in the lineup after a bad game? And seriously, do you really want a roster full of players that do not care if they get into the line up or not? "I'm just here for the paycheck, I don't care if they play me or not, just keep the checks coming?" I mean Tex...to be fair, this is a 45 year old backup IF who hit .253 during the year with a .590 OPS. If he doesn't understand that he's a backup now...he's not going to be in the league next year. If I'm a GM thinking about signing a backup IF to a minimum contract...I'd look at the fact that he's whining about playing time and think "no matter how classy of a veteran he is I don't need that on my roster." By my count he had 10 Multi-hit games this year. He played the next day after 3 of them. 4 others he got another start within the same series or within 2 days of that multi hit game. There are only 3 Vizquel games this season where he got more than 1 hit and then wasn't on the field starting again by the 3rd day, and all of them were either in April or September. One of them was his last game of the year. Maybe if Vizquel had hit more than .250, he could have earned his way into the lineup more. Nah, that couldn't be it.
  8. And you smell.
  9. And the public meltdown and airing of grievances continues.
  10. Take a look at how Long the wait is becoming for guys who tore up the league when they were in like Reed. For a kick returner he can't just break the records to get there, he's got to destroy them.
  11. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Oct 2, 2011 -> 08:02 PM) That wasn't my point. The point was the Rays were able to deal Garza without losing anything from the big league club because they had Jeremy Hellickson ready to go. How does their rotation stack up next year if they were to trade another starter?
  12. You can't be serious
  13. Very unlikely.
  14. QUOTE (thedoctor @ Oct 2, 2011 -> 07:40 PM) van dyck talks to maddon, martinez about sox job That's one heckuvan endorsement.
  15. QUOTE (DukeNukeEm @ Oct 2, 2011 -> 07:15 PM) Does Devin Hester belong in the Hall of Fame? IF he retired right now? No. Another 5 years of these?
  16. Set?
  17. QUOTE (Palehosefan @ Oct 2, 2011 -> 06:52 PM) He's going to be even worse off in a few weeks with his OL. Easily the worst OL in the NFL. Even probowl center Pouncey is playing like dogs***. Frank Omiyale disagrees strongly with this and is determined to prove you wrong.
  18. Quick read.
  19. I'm glad the other game ended so that I could see that swing by Justin Upton. That was pleasant to view.
  20. If the Yankees come back in this game, it is because of a slippery, wet on deck circle.
  21. Captain Jetes up as the tying run, double play still in order, 1 out, 5-3 Det.
  22. QUOTE (PlaySumFnJurny @ Oct 2, 2011 -> 06:30 PM) Swisher led off with a homer. Bases were empty for Posada. Meanwhile, Valverde is crapping the bed. I blame the announcers. I missed the HR but they actually called it an RBI triple.
  23. Tying run comes to the plate, still nobody out. Andruw Jones up.
  24. Posada gets an RBI triple off of Valverde, 5-2 Tigers.
