  1. Konerko Shoulder Shrug Sigh.
  2. QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 13, 2011 -> 10:10 PM) It looked like he was going all out to start the game, as I even mentioned he seemed to be pushing himself early on and overthrowing (weird reactions by him). He was throwing 92 mph early on, but that seemed to be his peak. The issue now is to wonder if he really only be a 75-85 pitch pitcher for the rest of his career? If he can get to 108 last time otu, then he just needs to strengthen the muscles enough to last that much every time.
  3. Now our #2 htiter will bunt, killing our chance of a big response inning.
  4. QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 13, 2011 -> 10:07 PM) That was very impressive by Flowers!! And balta, he wasn't fooling anyone in the 4th inning though and I don't believe he had a strike out after the first time through. He had 4 K's through 3 innings, so he started the game with something. The only way I ever get conditioned to do something athletically is to do it.
  5. I still don't like the lean in his swing, but if he makes contact, he'll hit. The only issue is the K's.
  6. That ball was launched.
  7. QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 13, 2011 -> 10:05 PM) But if you're actually trying to compete, the long outings have resulted in him having nothing on the mound for a few weeks after. He got through 4 scoreless innings, hard to say he had "nothing". Once he got to the 3rd time through, that was it. Flowers with a BOMB.
  8. QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 13, 2011 -> 10:02 PM) Yep, 108 pitches when he could have easily been pulled after about 80. Ozzie is just such a f***ing moron. Look there's nothing wrong with pushing him to 108, that's a good workout for him, push him as long as he can go every time out. Just understand what that last clause means...when he gets in trouble, that has to be it, pull the plug there.
  9. He had a long outing last time out right?
  10. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 13, 2011 -> 09:15 PM) 25 trillion in taxes? You wont have an economy left. That's what, only about 3 times the size of the Bush tax cuts over the next decade, right? I bet that's still a lower tax rate than we had during the 70's. And anyway, that's what it would take to make a real dent. I'm sure there'd be a "panic" move if a $2 trillion a year tax increase was passed, but things would adapt right afterwards. No need to do that anyway, but again, that's the size of increase you'd need to actually make the household debt situation worse.
  11. QUOTE (greg775 @ Aug 13, 2011 -> 09:56 PM) Might be time to shut him down. Or make him a middle reliever. Neither of these actually deal with the problem.
  12. Man, did Omar even try on that throw?
  13. Yay defense yay!
  14. QUOTE (greg775 @ Aug 13, 2011 -> 09:24 PM) I wonder why the Sox can't hit in the Cell any more. Even against total hacks like Chen and Hochevar. You didn't anger the captain enough. That's why.
  15. LOL "While we're young!"
  16. Appears to be a new bride behind the 3b dugout.
  17. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 13, 2011 -> 08:58 PM) That is exactlyvwhat will happen when you start raising taxes on the people who are still spending in this country. Actually, this situation is kind of remarkable...which is why the repeated tax cuts have done jack. Because people are trying to recover a $10 trillion budget hole, if you cut taxes by $300 billion, you essentially decrease the household debt burden by a whopping 3%. That's why we've cut taxes by what, $2 trillion over the past 3 years and gotten very little growth...it has all gone into savings. Especially for the upper earners, it's literally a rounding error. You want to do damage? You need to increase taxes by an amount comparable to that drop; $25 trillion over 10 years or so ought to be a big enough hit. You want to solve things via tax cuts? Needs to be $10 triillion over a year or two, and it actually has to wind up in the pockets of the people who are in debt, not the ones who have massive incomes already. You'd actually have to be right on your lie about 50% of the people not paying taxes. And again...the fact that the upper classes have more and more money is an impediment to growth, not a good thing. That's part of the imbalance that feeds this. The upper class isn't going to spend us out of this unemployment hole, and they don't need to create jobs in order to make more money right now either.
  18. Well, getting baserunners.
  19. QUOTE (SoxAce @ Aug 13, 2011 -> 08:45 PM) I'm sure many were saying that about Bruce Chen all this year too. Except I think we've hit Hochevar this year.
  20. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 13, 2011 -> 08:36 PM) And how do you help them recover? By taxing them more of course! No, you help them recover by cutting jobs, as long as they're government jobs since they don't count.
  21. Everyone gets hooked eventually.
  22. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Aug 13, 2011 -> 08:32 PM) Going to be interesting to see if the Bears consider flipping Carimi and Webb. Carimi did play LT in college. They won't do it based on one preseason game.
  23. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Aug 13, 2011 -> 08:27 PM) In other words, expect that absolute worst with White Sox farmhands and hope for the best? If that works for you, have at it. I learned my lesson with BA. In all honestly, I'm not that worried about Morel. I never thought he was that good. Beckham is the one that should concern everybody. Not just white sox farmhands. You should never build a roster that requires above-average performance from a rookie if you expect to compete. Beckham, that's cause for concern. I'm gonna hold out hope that he Alex Gordon recovers it next year. We've got 1 more pre-arb year on him, then he's worth keeping for 1 arb year right now, so he probably has 2 years left to develop.
  24. Can you put a guy on the bereavement list and make a callup?
  25. You could get rid of every regulation out there right now and it wouldn't change the reality...$10 trillion in household wealth vaporized in 2008, households had spent 5 years making purchases based on the assumption that they had that wealth, and now, they're trying to recover from that debt load. Government policy has hurt in some cases (the HAMP program), helped in others (The stimulus), but the private sector simply cannot grow right now. It needs time for household budgets to recover.
