"If You Want Me Back"
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 4, 2011 -> 10:26 AM) I'm saying it today. Man, as a 7 year old he must have been a spectacular hitter then.

Hey Soxtalk! You just made ESPN Chicago
QUOTE (maggsmaggs @ Aug 4, 2011 -> 10:24 AM) I don't go into the political forums at all (but I will assume neither does Ozzie Jr.), but in the Pale Hose talk thread, I have never seen anyone insult the Guillen family for anything other than on-field performance and its loony tunes on Twitter. No ones cares about Ozzie's nationality as that has nothing to do with the issues at hand. I don't think anyone cares that Ozzie is Venezuelan or if he were Mexican, or if he were from Bridgeport. The fact is that the people on the site despise Ozzie because of his managing, stupid quotes and moronic son. I hate to say it, but we do get comments about Ozzie Guillen's heritage on here. That he didn't go to school, that he favors latin players because of their heritage, and occasionally stuff that is harsher.

"If You Want Me Back"
QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Aug 4, 2011 -> 10:18 AM) In the 70's folks had some different opinions of Dick Allen, and Dick Allen had some different opinions of things. But, he was a heck of a hitter. I remember the 72 All-Star game I think it was where Dick Allen came up with a runner in scoring position and purposely went to right field with a single to drive in a run. Dick Allen who could hit 35-40 homers a year went to right field to plate a run. These hitters today could learn from that. In 20 years, some one will say this exact same thing about Paul Konerko.

"If You Want Me Back"
QUOTE (JohnCangelosi @ Aug 4, 2011 -> 09:57 AM) If you think this is bad just imagine if he didn't have 2012 picked up- Ozzie would be more bit*hy than anyone of the real houswives of NY. Enough is enough. This team is the laughing stock of the league. Every day seemingly a new group of migrants are laughingly pissing on our front lawn in broad daylight while management watches through the glass window and simply just shrugs their shoulders. Time to clean house, it AIN'T WORKING! I'm not quite sure what the metaphor here actually means, but it makes me a bit uncomfortable.

Financial News
There are suggestions in this WSJ article that overnight funding for private banks in Italy is starting to dry up. A dry-up of short term funding was one of the final kicks that killed Lehman and the other U.S. institutions that broke.

QUOTE (SoxAce @ Aug 4, 2011 -> 09:43 AM) And the Bears pick will be much more attractive for the Giants. Odds are, the Pats will have the better record. Unless the Bears get Osi.

The Democrat Thread
Bleeping bleep. I can't even find a reasonable old Iraq thread to stick this in.

So the Bears would give up a late 2nd for him but not a late first. Sounds about right to me.

Well, at least the Mayor knows to keep his hands clean when he sees a disaster coming.

Official 2011-2012 NFL Thread
So, Merrill Hoge is on ESPN saying his usual stuff about Tebow's mechanics and how Denver created a bad situation for themselves by drafting a guy in the first round who clearly didn't belong there. Tebow tweeted something like "Thanks for the suggestions Merrill" in reply. Then...Lebron James decided to chime in on Twitter to defend Tebow. I never really viciously disliked Tebow, but I'm not sure I have a choice now.

Dear Mr. Reinsdorf.
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 4, 2011 -> 08:51 AM) Then why did the term "white flag" start showing up everywhere as soon as Edwin Jackson got traded? It wasn't showing up before that?

2011 MLB Catch-All Thread
QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ Aug 3, 2011 -> 11:59 PM) Well, that Pirates thing was fun while it lasted. Not that anybody expected it to last very long. I hope they at least break the below .500 streak this year. .500 should be the first goal. I don't think people were buying them for the Central, yet anyway, but getting to .500 would be a nice feather in the cap.

What Holding on To CQ & Thornton @ Deadline Means Now
QUOTE (kitekrazy @ Aug 4, 2011 -> 12:09 AM) He probably had more than you think on the trading block. He probably just got offered less than we'd think too.

2011 White Sox Catch-All Thread
QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Aug 4, 2011 -> 08:32 AM) In that case, there would be ZERO reason to start Rios over Alejandro. Really, it doesn't matter who the opposing starter is right now. Even the Tribune is making a game of logging in detail each of Rios's defensive miscues.

Larussa 2012?
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 4, 2011 -> 08:41 AM) Besides the loudmouthed attention hound protecting his bad hitting coach? Not sure who this is directed at?
-
Larussa 2012?
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 4, 2011 -> 08:38 AM) He is pretty much the exact same guy as Ozzie. Except much more aggressive in using bullpen matchups. Which might not be the worst thing ever. Oh, and he also has had a much larger clubhouse alcohol issue.

Larussa 2012?
QUOTE (kitekrazy @ Aug 4, 2011 -> 01:19 AM) What coaches are retained? I'm assuming Cooper will keep his job since Duncan is still under contract to 2013. Isn't Cooper's contract with the Sox up after this season? Seems like there might be a decent chance of him departing anyways

In a reasonable world, we'd be able to write in and ask where he saw that post, and if he couldn't provide it, he'd issue an apology.

So that's 3/3, including a hustle double for De Aza? Bench.

QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Aug 3, 2011 -> 09:59 PM) f***ing unbelievable. The one day our pitching lays a giant egg, they decide to start hitting. Burnett probably let up a bit, but still WTF. The good news is that we played for 1 run in the first so we didnt get to him early.

Sox vs. Yanks, 08/03, 7:10 PM, ESPN, CSN
It's only 7 runs. When's the last time we scored7 in a game?

QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 3, 2011 -> 09:13 PM) Knowing our luck, Ozzie will sign an extension this week as a show of support by JR. I'd join the riot.
