August 4, 201114 yr What does anyone think if the rumor of LaRussa taking over in 2012 becomes a reality? What coaches are retained? I'm assuming Cooper will keep his job since Duncan is still under contract to 2013. As for Walker, you never know. He did play under Larussa for a short time. BTW there are 63000 links in google about Larussa managing the 2012 White Sox. Rumor has it Tony would be an interim and then move to the front office. Edited August 4, 201114 yr by kitekrazy
August 4, 201114 yr I think there's a great chance this happens. Which would be just fantastic since La Russa is probably the only manager in baseball I dislike more than Ozzie.
August 4, 201114 yr No. I'd rather they kept Ozzie before Larussa. Sandy Alomar Jr. or Dave Martinez please.
August 4, 201114 yr QUOTE (Chet Kincaid @ Aug 4, 2011 -> 12:51 AM) No. I'd rather they kept Ozzie before Larussa. Sandy Alomar Jr. or Dave Martinez please. Manager: Sandy Alomar Jr. Bench Coach: Robin Ventura Pitching Coach: Don Cooper Hitting Coach: Frank Thomas 1st Base: Harold Baines 3rd Base: Omar Vizquel (and if he follows Ozzie, put just about anyone here).
August 4, 201114 yr QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Aug 4, 2011 -> 12:03 AM) 1st Base: Harold Baines I doubt that happens. Whole staff needs to be purged.
August 4, 201114 yr QUOTE (Wanne @ Aug 4, 2011 -> 01:49 AM) I doubt that happens. Whole staff needs to be purged. I rather like Coop.
August 4, 201114 yr Am I the only guy who would like to see LaRussa back in town? The dude's a douche but he's also a proven winner. I don't mind assholes as long as they get the job done. Douchebag winner>>>Classy loser
August 4, 201114 yr QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Aug 4, 2011 -> 01:03 AM) Manager: Sandy Alomar Jr. Bench Coach: Robin Ventura Pitching Coach: Don Cooper Hitting Coach: Frank Thomas 1st Base: Harold Baines 3rd Base: Omar Vizquel (and if he follows Ozzie, put just about anyone here). Not bad, but I don't think Ventura has any interest in being in uniform everyday for 7 or 8 months. I also think the same of Frank, and I also think he'd be an awful coach. Alomar as a manager, and Vizquel as a bench coach would be ok with me. I'd like Bob Brenly to be interviewed. As far as LaRussa, I said it last night....if Reinsdorf hires that guy back, I will no longer support the White Sox until he sells the team or dies.

August 4, 201114 yr Isn't LaRussa going to be much too expensive? I wonder if they think it would be better to slash payroll to $85-95 million if they have a big-time manager to market. Same philosophy the Marlins are taking with Guillen/Valentine. And at least they have Hanley and Josh Johnson to promote. We might not even have Konerko and Buehrle the way things are headed.
August 4, 201114 yr QUOTE (Chet Kincaid @ Aug 4, 2011 -> 12:51 AM) No. I'd rather they kept Ozzie before Larussa. Sandy Alomar Jr. or Dave Martinez please. He is pretty much the exact same guy as Ozzie.

Isn't Cooper's contract with the Sox up after this season? Seems like there might be a decent chance of him departing anyways
August 4, 201114 yr QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 4, 2011 -> 08:38 AM) He is pretty much the exact same guy as Ozzie. Except much more aggressive in using bullpen matchups. Which might not be the worst thing ever. Oh, and he also has had a much larger clubhouse alcohol issue.
August 4, 201114 yr QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 4, 2011 -> 07:39 AM) Except much more aggressive in using bullpen matchups. Which might not be the worst thing ever. Oh, and he also has had a much larger clubhouse alcohol issue. Besides the loudmouthed attention hound protecting his bad hitting coach?
August 4, 201114 yr QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 4, 2011 -> 08:41 AM) Besides the loudmouthed attention hound protecting his bad hitting coach? Not sure who this is directed at?
August 4, 201114 yr QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 4, 2011 -> 07:43 AM) Not sure who this is directed at? That's the point. We'd be hiring an older Ozzie.

August 4, 201114 yr QUOTE (Leonard Zelig @ Aug 4, 2011 -> 08:13 AM) The Cardinals have banned alcohol from their clubhouse. Because of Tony LaRussa essentially.
August 4, 201114 yr I'd much rather see him here than having Cora manayer. As for Cooper, would Duncan follow LaRussa wherever he goes (if anywhere)?
August 4, 201114 yr Maybe the sox can hire Tony LaRussa's daughter instead?? We all know KennyGM loves the Raiders.... http://www.sportsgrindent.com/blog/mlb-man...fl-cheerleader/
August 4, 201114 yr QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 4, 2011 -> 08:29 AM) Because of Tony LaRussa essentially. I would say it had more to do with Josh Hancock's death.
August 4, 201114 yr QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Aug 4, 2011 -> 10:22 AM) If not Ozzie then Carlton Fisk Why on Earth would we expect that he would be an acceptable manager? Heck, when Sandberg was trying to get the Cubs job he spent years managing in the minors for them trying to convince them that he had managerial experience.
