Jackson & Teahen to TOR for Frasor & Stewart (RHP)
QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Jul 27, 2011 -> 10:18 PM) I think we'll take 2 of 3 from BOS, only because we seem incapable of sweeping anyone and Ozzie is bound to leave Humber in there for 3 too many batters in a low scoring game against Lester. What does that do to the tradescape? Didn't we sweep Boston in Boston?

2011 White Sox Catch-All Thread
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 27, 2011 -> 10:02 PM) The reality is you don't build his arm by yanking him at 75 pitches. It needs to be conditioned like any other muscle group. If he's breaking down at 75 right now, then push him until he gets in trouble. The moment to pull him was just too damn obvious. If he gets to 75 these 2 starts then hopefully the next week he can push to 80, then 85, etc. If you don't care about winning then sure, throw him 100 a game now, but it's time to clear house because we've thrown in the towel and are playin for next season rather than to win.

Jackson & Teahen to TOR for Frasor & Stewart (RHP)
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 27, 2011 -> 09:48 PM) They said in the postgame that de aza had one less RBI today than rios had in his last 110 abs He also saved more runs than rios has saved in that time, I'd wager.

Rumor: Rios/Thornton to Brewers for Gamel?
QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jul 27, 2011 -> 09:24 PM) Then we better get some offense out of 3B if we're going to roll with that kind of inexperience in the OF. I can't imagine strong season ticket renewals unless there's at least one significant improvement made somewhere coming into 2012. I think it's time to stop thinking about that and start making baseball moves.

2011 MLB Catch-All Thread
QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jul 27, 2011 -> 09:23 PM) Jacoby Ellsbury has officially become the top premier leadoff man in the AL. Maybe all of baseball. Only other guy in the discussion is Jose Reyes. And neither of them are reliably healthy.

Rumor: Rios/Thornton to Brewers for Gamel?
After this year yeah I'd rather go with Milledge/Alejandro/Viciedo as our of next year than anything involving rios.

Hyperpartisanship is threatening to destroy our country
Would y'all endorse policies in favor of making it harder to outsource jobs? I thought that was supposed to be a great thing for the economy. Anyway, yeah, putting te head of ge in charge of "jobs" was idiotic.

Jackson & Teahen to TOR for Frasor & Stewart (RHP)
QUOTE (Real @ Jul 27, 2011 -> 08:26 PM) We pretty much have the best bullpen in the AL, easily the best bullpen in the central. Frasor Crain Santos Ohman Sale Thornton Does Frasor replace Bruney?? And if he does, who do the Sox add to the pen to keep 12 pitchers? Do we bring back Santiago? We've had 12 pitchers almost the whole year, 6 were just starters. frasor replaces Jackson on the roster and takes the pen up to 7 people.

Rumor: Rios/Thornton to Brewers for Gamel?
QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jul 27, 2011 -> 08:25 PM) Kenny would owe the Brewers a hot carl. I can't see this happening unless JR, who from what I hear has been very pissed off with Rios, just told KW to get rid of him no matter what the cost. That would be almost impossible to believe.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 27, 2011 -> 07:02 PM) They support raising taxes on other people. That is different. Just like the republicans support cuttig jobs, benefits, and voting rights for other people.

Quentin sought after by BOS
QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Jul 27, 2011 -> 07:17 PM) The rays are trying tio trade Upton. Reports are they are convinced he will never be a major league hitter. Lots of talent but low production They're right. This is who he is. He strikes out too much to put up incredible numbers.

maybe a SS?
We've made him into an above average to great SS already. I'd rather move whoever we trade for.

Jackson & Teahen to TOR for Frasor & Stewart (RHP)
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 27, 2011 -> 07:50 PM) Adding a top 50 prospect changes that. A lot. He's only a top 50 guy to Law. And of course, that was before we traded for him.

Jackson & Teahen to TOR for Frasor & Stewart (RHP)
If he's talking about "4 pitches", that's code for keeping him a starter.

Jackson & Teahen to TOR for Frasor & Stewart (RHP)
QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jul 27, 2011 -> 06:08 PM) Sounds to me like the worse case scenario is a year from now we have two, young, cost controlled power armed righties (Stewart & Reed) setting up our young, cost controlled, power closer (Santos). I still think if the Sox fall out of this, they can always spin Frasor for a good prospect. I'd be surprised but not astonished if Stewart was back in the bullpen next year.

Rumor: Rios/Thornton to Brewers for Gamel?
QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 27, 2011 -> 06:07 PM) No one ever said Rios and Dunn shouldn't be blamed for world hunger, Ocean's Twelve and Jericho being taken off the air. We all know they stink...but Morel has been a huge bust so far offensively. Yeah, he hasn't shown the power he needs to, but he's still hitting .283 since May 7 (which is also the date that our pitching decided to become the best in the AL).

Jackson & Teahen to TOR for Frasor & Stewart (RHP)
QUOTE (Soxfest @ Jul 27, 2011 -> 06:02 PM) Scoutingbook.com.......on Stewart. Zach Stewart Born 9/28/1986 (24 years old) RHP, TOR Already blessed with the best fastball in the Blue Jays system, ex-Red Zach Stewart is a compact righthander who's being fast-tracked to future closing duties in Toronto. That is, it looks an awful lot like that's how the Blue Jays want him to arrive. Should they change their minds, Stewart's high heat and nasty, nasty slider could also do some damage in a starting role. There's a lot more already in his AAP page.

Rumor: Rios/Thornton to Brewers for Gamel?
QUOTE (Paulstar @ Jul 27, 2011 -> 06:04 PM) Well, that argument would make sense if he hasn't played the vast majority of his career, including at the MLB level, at 3B. And considering the Brewers still haven't made a position change, I think they would be willing to deal with the below average defense at 3B if they thought he would be able to hit at all. I don't think the Brewers think he can hit MLB pitching. Yeah...with the fact that Casey McGeHee is also rated as below average fielding at 3b (-4.6 career UZR/150), Gamel's defense would have to be worse than has ever been seen by man for him to not make up the difference by putting up an .800 OPS.

Rumor: Rios/Thornton to Brewers for Gamel?
QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 27, 2011 -> 05:59 PM) I think we'd give him a shot at 3b...unless we trade the rest of our starting corner outfielders. Then why have the Brewers not done so when Brent Morel is significantly outproducing their 3b spot?
-
Rumor: Rios/Thornton to Brewers for Gamel?
QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jul 27, 2011 -> 05:57 PM) I didn't list 3B because it's clear he shouldn't be playing 3b. You stick his ass in the outfield. Then why did this particular discussion start with fathom saying "He'd be far superior offensively to Morel at 3b"?

Quentin sought after by BOS
QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jul 27, 2011 -> 05:55 PM) I think I'd rather get Brown. I'm just not as high on Beachy as everyone else. I don't know why, but I figured Beachy would be the kind of player you'd like.

Rumor: Rios/Thornton to Brewers for Gamel?
QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jul 27, 2011 -> 05:51 PM) LF Braun 1B Prince RF Corey Hart DH - it's the NL Where exactly are you playing him, Balta? They've thrown him at 3rd a few times, but come on, not everything is as cut and dry as you always want it to be. Ahead of Casey McGee and Josh Wilson at 3b? Here's a question for you. Which team has a worse OPS on the season at 3b, the White Sox or the Brewers? I'll give you a moment to ponder that since I'm typing the question. The Brewers have actually gotten less production at 3b than the White Sox have this year. They've gotten a .537 OPS out of their 3b spot, but they haven't used Gamel to replace that position. Brent Morel at 3b would be an upgrade of 30 points of OPS for them. So, Matt Gamel is not replacing Brent Morel for the Sox.

Rumor: Rios/Thornton to Brewers for Gamel?
QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 27, 2011 -> 05:48 PM) Cause it would be hard to be worse, and the question about Gamel has never really been his offense. Really, if there were no question about his offense, wouldn't he be in the majors already, at least moved to a new position?

Rumor: Rios/Thornton to Brewers for Gamel?
QUOTE (South Side Fireworks Man @ Jul 27, 2011 -> 05:43 PM) How's his defense? Bad enough that this thread has already talked about moving him to the OF.
