  1. QUOTE (chw42 @ Jul 27, 2011 -> 02:46 PM) Keith Law's usually been wrong when it comes to White Sox prospects. Not sure I'd say that. He basically hates everything the Sox ever do prospect wise, and the Sox haven't had a good system in a while, so by default, he's going to be right more than wrong.
  2. QUOTE (DirtySox @ Jul 27, 2011 -> 02:43 PM) Depends on who you ask. He's lost some luster. Law is the only one really high on him. KG sees him as a 4 at absolute best. More likely a reliever. Yes that's right folks, we traded for a pitcher that Keith Law really likes. It's as controlled of an experiment as we can get. If Keith Law suddenly stops liking him...well, we'll know. Anyway, he hasn't really lost luster because of anything he's done. He's lost "luster" because the Jays traded for guys like Kyle Drabek and that moved him down their list.
  3. QUOTE (winninguglyin83 @ Jul 27, 2011 -> 02:43 PM) the good news: DeAza hits first MLB home run. The bad news: Kenny Williams just offered him a three-year extension. He's still got so many arb-eligible seasons left, go ahead.
  4. Also worth noting, Brian McCann appeared to have popped an oblique on a throw in that game yesterday. Probably a DL trip a coming for him. With Larry out with his usual set of mid-season injuries, the Braves now officially need a bat. They have a solid backup C so that's not a position of huge need, but they're missing power.
  5. He's so getting benched for that.
  6. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Jul 27, 2011 -> 02:24 PM) Stewart is a decent, not great, prspect. But this perspective you are taking is ridiculous. Yes, the Hudson/Jackson trade was bad. That has absolutely nothing to do with what decisions KW makes after the fact. Zero. After reading through some of the scouting reports and putting together his AAP page, this guy is a solid get in this trade. Ceiling #2.
  7. QUOTE (He_Gawn @ Jul 27, 2011 -> 12:14 PM) So in other news besides the trade today, the #1 5star QB for 2012 Gunner Kiel is at IU this afternoon. Down to IU and Bama, many rumors of commitment this afternoon. In other words, you can bank on the world ending if INDIANA picks up the #1 QB in the country. WTF, really?
  8. Writeup of his first big league start
  9. Prospect of the day: Zach Stewart
  10. Here's a ton on him from Jays Journal.
  11. Zachary Stewart Born September 28, 1986 From Wichita Falls, Texas 6'2", 204 LBS Zach Stewart was originally drafted out of Texas Tech in the 3rd round of the 2008 draft, pick # 84. He was then traded to the Blue Jays along with Edwin Encarnacion in the deal that brought Scott Rolen to the Reds. Finally, he was traded along with Jason Frasor to the White Sox for Mark Teahen and Edwin Jackson. He made his career debut on June 16, 2011 against the Baltimore Orioles, pitching 7 innings, giving up 7 hits, 2 earned runs, 1 walk and 4 strikeouts. After making 3 starts, Stewart was optioned back to Double-A New Hampshire on June 28, 2011. Zach has bounced back and forth between starting and relieving, but basically entered 2010 as one of the Blue Jays top prospects.
  12. QUOTE (JPN366 @ Jul 27, 2011 -> 12:23 PM) Kuhn is back in Charlotte. Crud, now everyone I know is gone right before they come to Tennessee. JPN, can you give me a heads up for guys to take a close look at next week? Alternatively, if Zach Stewart winds up in Birmingham, can you tell me what day he's scheduled to go?
  13. QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ Jul 27, 2011 -> 11:50 AM) This isn't really players being held "acceptable" as much as it's salary dumping because the team hasn't played well enough to draw the fans needed to cover the heavy payroll load. The players that should be held accountable (Rios, Dunn, Beckham, Pierre) won't be. How do you hold guys on guaranteed contracts "acceptable"? (I'm going to milk this typo for a while).
  14. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jul 27, 2011 -> 11:49 AM) And we also dont have the prospect to get him either. I'd assume that we do, his name's Dayan Viciedo.
  15. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 27, 2011 -> 11:48 AM) This team has underachieved all yr long. The players deserve to be held acceptable for this. I agree. The players deserve to be held acceptable. Wait, what?
  16. QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Jul 27, 2011 -> 11:44 AM) I'm delighted to see mark teahen no longer wearing a sox uni but trading EJAX, our 2nd best pitcher this season, says we're not in this to win it. Might as well keep dumping now. Too bad Konerko had to re-sign to be part of Ken Williams' worthless vision. Edwin Jackson has been the Sox's 2nd best pitcher this season? At best he's been the team's 3rd best starter.
  17. QUOTE (IowaSoxFan @ Jul 27, 2011 -> 11:44 AM) Who has more value, Frasor or Crain? Crain
  18. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jul 27, 2011 -> 11:42 AM) Yes, clearly this one deal is what I'm referring to, and not the many, many awful deals that have cost JR piles of cash and lead to this final punting of value that is Edwin Jackson. Claim Alex Rios - big cash. f***. Trade Daniel Hudson - Get a known commodity in Edwin Jackson trying to force hand of Washington to trade you player you actually want in Adam Dunn. Claim MANNY RAMIREZ - one month. one homer. $5 mill. f***. Give away Edwin Jackson to get rid of another AWFUL, POINTLESS contract extension in Mark Teahen. This is just a very very very very very small segment of KW's persistent incompetence. Out of that list, the only move I wouldn't have called a decent gamble is the Hudson trade. At least to my eyes, that's going to go down as the single worst deal of KW's tenure here. Unless both of the guys we gave up blow their arms out.
  19. QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ Jul 27, 2011 -> 11:40 AM) If we lose today, and then Friday and Saturday, how many guys could go in your opinion? Depends on how big of a salary cut we're making. We might be seriously clearing the roster here.
  20. QUOTE (iamshack @ Jul 27, 2011 -> 11:38 AM) Sorry Edwin, you deserved better. Then he should have pitched better.
