  1. QUOTE (Harry Chappas @ Jul 22, 2011 -> 09:54 PM) 2 innings in that game Did Detroit have Jair Jurrjens at one time? If so, who was he traded for? Edgar Renteria
  2. QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Jul 22, 2011 -> 09:50 PM) De Los Santos pitching for OAK. Glad that trade worked out for somebody. He's all the way up? Werent the a's losing by 9?
  3. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jul 22, 2011 -> 09:40 PM) KW has been wrong quite a bit of late. I can't with a clear conscious get on him for the Dunn signing. That's all Adam. But KW has been bad the last three years. No other way to put it. "The gambler's ruin"
  4. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jul 22, 2011 -> 09:34 PM) So that justifies the extension? It's not the trade itself for me. Fields and Getz are both replacement level players. The extension is what boggles the human mind. Again, I didn't like it, but if he did put up a .900 ops in 2009 he'd have walked right into free agency. KW was expecting he traded for a guy that would be worth $13 million; so locking him up for 3 years would have been smart. The problem was that Teahen wasn't the player kenny thought.
  5. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jul 22, 2011 -> 09:26 PM) Yes, I'm being serious. Baiting? If I wanted to do that I don't need Mark Teahen. He's an awful baseball player. I can't stand him. Teahen was viewed as a serious moneyball style prospect coming up through the Royals system, just like the guys you adore so much now. He got here and took a bit of time struggling, but then killed the ball for a > .900 ops for the second half of 06. After that though the Royals started moving him around and never gave him a consistent position, and his offense suffered. The sox thought that if they moved him back where he was comfortable and put him at 3b everyday, then both his defense and his offensive talent would show back up. When we traded for him he was 1 year from FA so if he did put up that .900 ops again he'd be really expensive, so the extension would have looked like a bargain. Note; this was not thinking I agreed with at the time. This is also why you dont write prospects in as allstars.
  6. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jul 22, 2011 -> 09:22 PM) Gordon looks like crap again. Outside of PK and CQ, there's nobody in this lineup that can be counted on consistently. KOnerko hasn't shown much power lately and Quentin is very inconsistent.
  7. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jul 22, 2011 -> 09:21 PM) WTF was KW thinking? I'm serious. Even bad players overall offer something. This guy is f***ing useless. Are you actually serious or are you just baiting? I can repeat the reasoning even if it's been clearly proven wrong, but if you're just complaining I won't bother.
  8. QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Jul 22, 2011 -> 09:20 PM) Mike Caruso... Royce Clayton.... Mark Teahen.... (working on my most hated Sox hall of shame list) Alex rios?
  9. QUOTE (kapkomet @ Jul 22, 2011 -> 09:11 PM) Hey, wait, there's no social security trust fund? No lock box? WTF? Of course there's no lock box. Remember the candidate who wanted to use that money on $2 trillion in upper class tax cuts got fewer votes so he won. We spent that lockbox money on the greatest economy of all time.
  10. QUOTE (beckham15 @ Jul 22, 2011 -> 09:12 PM) or the fact that this pitcher is throwing garbage up there and he's hitting it....just maybe....i want to see a week of consistent hitting before there are even sniffs of resurrection Considering half our lineup can't hit that junk, Dunn can get the compliment.
  11. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 22, 2011 -> 09:04 PM) Yeah...don't trade that man! Way to go Quentin Just raisin that trade value.
  12. Here's our shot at 9+ left on base.
  13. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 22, 2011 -> 08:58 PM) Even with the knee issue he has? Anyways, he's looked good tonight so that's not really an issue. I think there's a much better chance Dunn turns it around than Rios I don't think the trib would have described dl-ing Dunn for his knee as "suspicious" if that hadn't been considered.
  14. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 22, 2011 -> 08:56 PM) I think Pierre could be an easy guy to trade during waiver period. Some team would definitely take a chance on him as a bench player. The earlier he's gone the more money we save and the more AB's we can give the tryout guys.
  15. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 22, 2011 -> 08:52 PM) - Bench Rios, platoon De Aza and Lillbridge - DL Dunn, call up Viciedo to play DH - Fire Walker - Trade Danks Trade Quentin, trade Jackson, trade ohman, listen on Konerko, Buehrle, try to gt someone to take on AJs 2012 and the rest of Pierre this year.
  16. QUOTE (hi8is @ Jul 22, 2011 -> 06:53 PM) It's safe to say that it's not happening today - gurrrrrrrr. I got all gitty early this morning when I saw Rocks post. Sad Panda. Seriously; stop getting your hopes up. Would it help if I edited the thread to say that DV might be up by 2016?
  17. And there's where Carrasco starts to settle in.
  18. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 22, 2011 -> 07:04 PM) If they drained his knee they have a pretty good medical reason. That is much more convincing than a guy watching from the press box's opinion. I don't think theyd have described it that way if it was just the opinion of Gonzalez and not something deeper.
  19. QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Jul 22, 2011 -> 08:47 PM) We should soon have a 1-0 or 2-0 lead which G will hold until the 7th or 8th. Isn't that the script? With no one up in the bullpen, too.
  20. Benjamin Harrison was forgettable.
  21. 7 runners stranded in 3 innings takes some effort.
  22. Joy, Rios up with bases loaded.
  23. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jul 22, 2011 -> 08:34 PM) Adam has put two balls in play tonight. Sounds painful.
  24. Hey I tuned in and there are runners on base. I assume I'll get to see them stranded?
