7-20: Sox (47-50) vs. Royals (39-58); 7:10; CSN
QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Jul 20, 2011 -> 09:33 PM) Pitched over it. By the way, Danks is pitching his ass off. But Ozzie better have someone warm in the bottom of 7th tonight. Danks should not come out for the 7th. Not coming off the dl in this in this heat.

Catch All Anything Thread
QUOTE (knightni @ Jul 20, 2011 -> 09:16 PM) How can anyone really truly know what happens after you die? You just have the high priestess reimplant your Katra into your still living body.

Tigers acquire our old friend Wilson Betemit
My worry there is that your found ways to rile out almost all of the guys the sox have had who were decent contributors. Can you give examples of guys who came here and then never produced or fell apart? (Dunn obviously) I'm sorta asking how big a sample size were talking about. If were talking about 8 guys and you exclude 5, then it's not that useful of a standard.

QUOTE (kapzk @ Jul 20, 2011 -> 09:27 PM) If we somehow get rid of Rios's contracts just somehow and Dunn walks away from the game and leaves the money on the table since he is so horrible, then I would be all in for signing Albert Pujols or Prince Fielder. But ofcourse I am just dreaming. Great, then Prince can eat his way to a .345 ops somehow.

2 errors in 2 days for Beckham, 3 on the season I think.

QUOTE (chw42 @ Jul 20, 2011 -> 09:24 PM) Meche walked away from $12 million. Dunn's amount is nearly 4 times that. He wouldn't do it this year, but I can't inane him going through 2-3 years of a slump like this.

Adam Dunn Articles and Quotes thread
To everyone who says he won't quit...if hes hitting .150 next May and on the bench, do you think he'd endure that for 2.5 more years?

QUOTE (maggsmaggs @ Jul 20, 2011 -> 09:18 PM) Brent Morel, meet first base. It has been awhile. Well yeah, he's been on the bench since the AS break.

QUOTE (maggsmaggs @ Jul 20, 2011 -> 09:11 PM) I haven't seen one rumor to suggest he would walk away from baseball. Guy was too good before this year and has too much pride to walk away with his tail between his legs. Where are you reading these rumors? Read the Dunn article thread right now. From boo's mouth.

7-20: Sox (47-50) vs. Royals (39-58); 7:10; CSN
QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Jul 20, 2011 -> 09:09 PM) To retire? NO! But, I do want him to hit the ball out of the park. I too think he should have a minimum of 20 homers and 50 some RBI's right now. Maybe he would be trade bait? Some NL team might want him knowing he hit good in that league. I don't want to give up hope for the guy, but he is almost an automatic out If any team would take Dunn right now the sox would obviously let him go for nothing.

7-20: Sox (47-50) vs. Royals (39-58); 7:10; CSN
QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Jul 20, 2011 -> 09:07 PM) I was going to say that in green. Hope we can see an end to the calls for him being traded. (And that part isn't in green) If our pitching gives up 2 runs tonight, that might intensify the calls to trade Carlos.

QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 20, 2011 -> 09:03 PM) Think of the shift in the standings if the Tigers went hard after Dunn and we would have signed VMart? Dunn would have 24 homers and martinez would eithe be hurt or have a 607 ops.

QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 20, 2011 -> 09:00 PM) I'm still amazed people think the Sox are more talented than Detroit. If Adam Dunn had an .875 ops do you think we'd be in first place? I do.

"I'm Ready"
When Viciedo was eligible last year didn't he basically drop off the top 100 list?

Is it wrong that a smurfs ad popped up on the screen and I thought "but the Royals aren't that short!"

"I'm Ready"
QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Jul 20, 2011 -> 08:19 PM) Teams don't trade prospects of Viciedo's caliber very often. Even if there was no spot for him on this roster right now, there will definitely be a spot for him next year one way or the other. So KW isn't going to trade Viciedo unless he's truly desperate and believes his job is on the line, but that's not going to be the case if Dunn and Rios are hitting. Regardless, we aren't in a position to dump our only impact prospect, especially when we have lot of big/bad contracts and may need to cut significant payroll soon. I know the Hudson deal has some people spooked, but I honestly believe that KW values Viciedo much more. I think he'll be the on roster by some point in August, I just hope we aren't out of it by then. Viciedo is still not valued so highly that moving him would be a league changing stunner.

Pena removed from rehab appearence
QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Jul 20, 2011 -> 08:08 PM) You really think we need a reliever ? That's absurd , but I'll grant you it could happen . Nope. Didn't need a starter last year either.

Pena removed from rehab appearence
Y'all I'm sure will continue to agree it's a great thing that Pena is gone when we move Viciedo for a reliever.

"I'm Ready"
QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Jul 20, 2011 -> 07:47 PM) I really hate how Dunn and Rios sucking has kept Dayan down and with thoughts of trading Q. Those 2 have ruined everything. If those 2 were hitting well, then there'd be no thought of bringig Dayan up, and it'd probably be more likely that he would be moved at the deadline.

QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Jul 20, 2011 -> 06:14 PM) lets deal rios to SF for Rowand. Put the band back together. Rowand's contract ends after 2012, Rios's after 2014. Rios has an extra $25 million on his contract. That would be a no-brainer for the Sox if the Giants would do it.
