QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Jul 20, 2011 -> 05:02 PM) I wouldn't consider swapping Quentin for a major league starter (Beachy) so we can get Viciedo a spot in the lineup a sign of "giving up". I think Viciedo can provide just as much offense as Quentin is right now, and having Beachy can allow Kenny to move a SP for maybe a few good relievers or at least some prospects. Yes, I'd call that giving up. Acquiring a 7th starter right now and having to figure out what to do with that? Yeesh.

QUOTE (Soxfest @ Jul 20, 2011 -> 04:52 PM) Per Rotoworld David O'Brien of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports that the Braves "could be close to making a deal for a right-handed bat." CQ perhaps? Said this in MLB thread. If the Braves are close now, it's not for Quentin. KW won't sell off this soon.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 20, 2011 -> 04:51 PM) No mention of TCQ. If they're close right now then it won't be Carlos. He won't be moved for a week or so at the earliest. KW won't throw in the towel yet.

QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Jul 20, 2011 -> 04:05 PM) the movie isnt needed, per say, but the studio wanted another spiderman movie and raimi/mcguire backed out due to studio interference. so you get a new director, do you really want him to follow the previous disaster of sm3 and keep the same continuity, or do you want him to make his own movie? I'd probably keep the same continuity unless the actor has gotten too expensive. The fact that SM3 was a debacle isn't because that plot line has nothing going for it, it was because whoever thought up the dancing/down the street scene needs to be removed from the Gene Pool

QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Jul 20, 2011 -> 04:34 PM) Omar is really old. This could be dangerous conditions for him. I bet Omar is in better shape than Alexei.

QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Jul 20, 2011 -> 04:34 PM) T-Pain re-injured? ... Indianapolis Bottom of the 6th Pitcher Change: Tony Pena replaces Deunte Heath. Pitcher Change: Shane Lindsay replaces Tony Pena. Came in, didn't pitch to a batter. 2k5 split the post about that and moved it to PHT.

QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Jul 20, 2011 -> 04:25 PM) Why would we ever want Vizquel at SS over Alexei? Ugh. Ozzie and his respect for veteran players. Probably doesn't want to "embarass" the great Omar Vizquel with a DH role. Because Alexei Ramirez occasionally might need a day off, and most everyone seems to agree that it's kind of hot outside.

The Heat Index is a government conspiracy. It's really not that hot.

QUOTE (GoSox05 @ Jul 20, 2011 -> 03:57 PM) Well it's still Spider-Man in the end. That character is never going to be as dark as Batman. Then it's hard to see why this movie is necessary.

QUOTE (TitoMB @ Jul 20, 2011 -> 03:57 PM) I beat him by less than 1 minute! Haha. 3 threads to merge, wound up pinning twice, yeesh.

That was way too much work.

At least it's not Vizquel at Dh.

QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Jul 20, 2011 -> 03:51 PM) I was being sarcastic. It's bulls*** how often we saw Ozzie run Ohman and Bruney out there day after day after day while Santiago twiddled his thumbs on the bench. Kid looked great in the 2 appearances he had, and Ozzie still didn't give a s***. Have Ohman and Bruney failed to perform? Hell, personally I think Ohman should be trade-bait here in a week or so. The Yankees could (quite seriously) use him. A lot.

QUOTE (Stan Bahnsen @ Jul 20, 2011 -> 03:42 PM) Tank just walked for the 2nd time today to lead off the 9th, then STOLE 2B and scored the tying run. There's your leadoff man Ozzie. It's SO obvious. Spectacular.

QUOTE (GoSox05 @ Jul 20, 2011 -> 03:46 PM) Actually the new Spider-Man movies are supposed to be similar to how Nolan did the new Batman movies. Darker and closer to the comic book from now, not 1964. It's hard to get anything like that from this trailer.

QUOTE (JPN366 @ Jul 20, 2011 -> 03:46 PM) The White Sox annually make the fewest roster tweaks of any team in the league. That's usually because their roster is unusually healthy though.

QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Jul 20, 2011 -> 03:30 PM) And maybe he will bench him and as the GM you can't control who the manager plays. But at least you are providing him with the best possible roster in your opinion, how he chooses to use it is on him. But then you're hurting Viciedo by, again, benching him (note the difference in my reaction to Santiago being benched and to Viciedo being benched). You can't let Ozzie screw with Viciedo again, you just can't. He needs to be playing everyday.

QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Jul 20, 2011 -> 03:24 PM) Exactly. As GM, you bring him up and see what Ozzie does. If the offense continues to play like garbage and Ozzie doesn't give Dayan any chances, the media, in theory, would be all over Ozzie for sitting a potentially good/great hitter. We saw last year what Ozzie did. He benched him.

QUOTE (IowaSoxFan @ Jul 20, 2011 -> 03:18 PM) If KW wants Viciedo up all he has to do is trade Quentin. Dunn is going nowhere with that salary ditto with Rios, if Pierre is moved Ozzie will run Lilli or De Aza out to LF everyday. I still want to see what the elf can do with an everyday shot. As hot as he got early and as good as his swing looked, there's something salvageable there, but he's never going to break out of this slump playing 1 game a week.

QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Jul 20, 2011 -> 03:15 PM) I think you can be creative with the offensive lineups without putting Dayan at 3rd. Rotate the OFs and give everyone a day off each week that they weren't getting before. You can also DH Dayan against all left handers (yes I know his splits against lefties are worse). I'm entirely fine with that. Just no 3b. He's an OF now, he needs to stay there.

QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Jul 20, 2011 -> 03:12 PM) There are ways to rotate guys in. You just have to cut loose someone like Teahen who provides absolutely nothing at this point...or send Morel down. There are options for a smart, creative manager to work Dayan into the mix. I know you're not explicitly saying this, but I feel compelled to note it. Moving Viciedo back to 3b...again...after we've bounced him around from position to position for 3 years and declared that he doesn't belong at 3b seems like the worst idea in the long, sad history of bad ideas.

QUOTE (JPN366 @ Jul 20, 2011 -> 03:07 PM) Tony Pena's rehabbing again. He came in, threw 4 pitches, then was removed. Walk?

QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Jul 20, 2011 -> 03:03 PM) And two of the largest issues in 2010/2011 were due to those decisions he seemed to defer. Even if they are Ozzie's decisions, I still blame the GM for letting the inmate run the asylum. The biggest problem with blaming the GM is that the GM may simply have no power here. If he can't force the manager to play the kid, the manager refuses to play the kid...and the owner has decided that the GM can't remove the manager...then the GM is powerless.

QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Jul 20, 2011 -> 03:00 PM) Eh whatever. I'm not going to bust the balls of teachers that get paid a decent salary. That wasn't a shot at teachers, only a shot at our system of financing schools.

QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Jul 20, 2011 -> 02:46 PM) maybe you get a premium for working somewhere that has a more difficult workplace environment (i.e., more problem students, larger classroom sizes, etc)? That's not what you get paid the premium for, you get paid the premium for working in the wealthier school districts.
