  1. QUOTE (whitesoxbrian @ Jun 21, 2011 -> 11:01 PM) It seems like a lot of Chicago guys now- Phil Rogers, Todd Hollandsworth, etc- all think Ozzie will be gone after 2011. If you look at the White Sox's current record, that's not a hard prediction to make.
  2. Lousy weather. So who has worse me or y'all in Chicago? Weve got 57% of the county without power, no confirmed tornadoes today though.
  3. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 21, 2011 -> 09:45 PM) I think you are mixing up this coaching search with when they hired Vinnie. Yeah, then no one wanted the job. The bulls by all accounts got their first choice this time.
  4. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 21, 2011 -> 09:46 PM) It is much easier to do when you don't have to worry about the team listening to you for any period of time. So the manager should only do things that are easy?
  5. 1/2 of my local utility's 200k customers are without power.
  6. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jun 21, 2011 -> 08:48 PM) Morel like a true pro, goes to right and slaps a single with 2 strike count. First and third no out. I see Morel is being benched tomorrow.
  7. For once I wouldn't mind some basic pbp if someone wanted to pad their post count.
  8. I'm getting really sick of taking shelter from storms. How's the game? I have no power.
  9. QUOTE (Kalapse @ Jun 21, 2011 -> 08:11 PM) The Beckett, Lowell for Ramirez, Sanchez trade went down about 2 months after McKeon retired in '05. Gracias.
  10. Buehrle's career ERA against the Cubs is 4.20. If it wasn't for that one 10 run inning, his numbers against them would be great.
  11. Yowza, AL is up 56-38 in interleague this year. Who was it telling us tw difference between the leagues was gone?
  12. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jun 21, 2011 -> 06:25 PM) Or "These Kids Can Play" Can you imagine another rebuilding era built around that notion? Yes.
  13. QUOTE (SoxFanForever @ Jun 21, 2011 -> 07:47 PM) and he already benched Hanley Has he coached him before?
  14. QUOTE (farmteam @ Jun 21, 2011 -> 07:28 PM) Fair point. But it's a little different when you imagine someone shoving an entire bearded dude into their mouth. He even ate the sandals. This ham steak is my sandals, which are worn for you.
  15. QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Jun 21, 2011 -> 06:19 PM) Needs to get his head on straight at the plate. Probably back on Wed Hopefully there's some mechanical work happening too. Even though it still can't make him hustle to 1b, when Rios sat out those 2 days, he came back with his hands held a lot higher, and since then he's at least hitting .268 with a .741 OPS (better than nothing)
  16. QUOTE (Y2HH @ Jun 21, 2011 -> 06:11 PM) Someone needs to notify these gold buyers that in a modern depression, food is worth more than gold. And a starving man would part with 5 pounds of yellow metal in exchange for a single meal. Or, the guy with the food can just wait until you stave to death in a mere few weeks, and take said worthless yellow metal for nothing. How's that for a positive outlook?
  17. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Jun 21, 2011 -> 06:07 PM) I know I've seen plenty of graphs lately (Krugman, Klein, Sullivan, etc.) that show the US dollar doing just fine. You can do better than this. Put one in here.
  18. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Jun 21, 2011 -> 06:02 PM) He's right that people arguing a reduction in deficit and debt will magically creatr stimulus or other direct investment results is bats***. But that's not the legitimate argument for doing so either. The legitimate argument for reducing the deficit and debt is lowering economic risk, broadening the ability to make discretionary spending decisions by giving the budget more breathing room, and enhancing the value of US dollars and debt (which has many positive effects). Feel free to ignore the legitimate reasons and focus on the loons, but you are then just missing the bigger picture. I'm pretty sure his argument now is that everything you just said puts you squarely in left field. And he's right. "lowering economic risk" right now doesn't do jack squat. You need to create customers. A stronger dollar also reduces budget breathing room right now, at least at the household level (which is heavily in debt and doesn't have dollars). Does great for the people with lots of dollars, but they're already failing to invest.
  19. QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Jun 21, 2011 -> 06:00 PM) Did you think the lawyers were going to work for free for 10 years? Well, they're going to be filing hundreds of thousands of cases now, so yeah, I think you've convinced me of that.
  20. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Jun 21, 2011 -> 05:50 PM) Yeah but you risk losing to powerful corporate attorneys on a technicality and being ordered to pay filing fees and maybe attorneys fees. You also need to be sufficiently intelligent and capable enough to realize the damages, file the appropriate claim and defend it on your own. It's also worth noting this.
  21. QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Jun 21, 2011 -> 05:47 PM) Evil or not, they're an incredibly smart company. Do you honestly believe they teach their managers to discriminate against women? I don't. I have no doubt in my mind some in their management team thinks that way. All or most big companies do. But in my experience, on both sides of these cases, there's almost always a legitimate reason for differences in pay/promotions/what have you unless you're dealing with those select few assholes who really do think that way. No, but if they were to happen to hire and promote managers who systematically discriminated against women in salary, that would save the company a fortune.
  22. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Jun 21, 2011 -> 05:44 PM) As I explained before you can get a fee waiver, so no cost to Pro Se Plaintiff. Are you really prepared to argue that the majority of people employed at Walmart would suffer no financial strain if they were to bring individual lawsuits for discrimination against that firm?
  23. QUOTE (southsideirish71 @ Jun 21, 2011 -> 05:42 PM) Well the answer to your question is the same one when people asked, "Why did we just pitch to Miguel Cabrera or any other slugger who destroys us with a base open." The magic 8 ball is a fickle cat, its wisdom however is beyond question. Your logic is not welcome here move along, nothing to see here. Miguel Cabrera and Starlin Castro are 2 different beasts.
  24. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Jun 21, 2011 -> 05:42 PM) The Court is there to address those who have the time and effort to care. Time...effort....and MONEY.
