QUOTE (farmteam @ Jun 19, 2011 -> 04:04 PM) Yeah, he was a Corporal in the Austrian Army in WWI. I think he also won the Iron Cross First Class, and was 25% Jewish, but I might be wrong about those two points. Yes, Hitler did earn the 2nd and 1st class iron cross during WWI. His "racial" background has been a matter of historical debate for a long time. His DNA has been tested and does suggest some general relationship to Jewish origins...but in Europe, what group of people you call "Jewish" is a fairly open question. Some people have argued that one of his grandfathers was jewish. I'll leave answering that to others.

Ozzie Guillen passed a kidney stone this morning and was in the hospital. Still expected to manage.

QUOTE (southsideirish71 @ Jun 19, 2011 -> 03:32 PM) Rongey was on Whitesox weekly going into a with what they pay Pierre giving him away for nothing would be wasteful. It's better to keep him around in the hopes that he can provide some value. Looks like bagdad bob got him marching orders and is filling the airwaves with this wisdom. Which also tells you about what other teams would be willing to give up for him. "Nothing".

Marlins interested in Ozzie Guillen (again)
QUOTE (greg775 @ Jun 19, 2011 -> 03:14 PM) You guys act like this is a desirable job. With no prospects coming up and an aging team with no bullpen, we got problems for any manager. Cito might be smart. A guy with no other options. A have a sneaky feeling we'll just name Cora. Getting paid a couple million dollars a year to be a baseball coach is a pretty desirable job, especially for the hundreds of other coaches around. And again...Cito Gaston is 67 years old and retired last year. He's done his time.

Marlins interested in Ozzie Guillen (again)
QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Jun 19, 2011 -> 03:12 PM) Sorry, but using that logic means that about 25 plus Major League teams will be changing managers every year If they've lost the division 3 years in a row, yeah, a lot of teams will change managers then. That's the definition of "all in". We bet everything on this season. If Ozzie can't turn that into a division championship, then he's busted and we walk away from the table.

The NYTimes has a long piece about how Clarence Thomas has apparently a millionaire "Benefactor" who pays for projects that the Justice is involved in. Seemingly, the relationship would be multiple ethics violations for lower court Justices, the same rules do not apply to the Supreme Court, so it is currently acceptable.- Robin Ventura...Hall of Famer??
QUOTE (maggsmaggs @ Jun 19, 2011 -> 02:30 PM) I don't disagree at all. He has been named to two All-Star games, but my point is if people are saying Damon is a HOF-caliber player, then Ventura should be talked about just as much, if not more. And my point is...if people are saying that about Johnny Damon...that makes them wrong. Similarly, if people are saying Robin Ventura is a hall of famer, that also makes them wrong.- no faith and no patience in this organization
QUOTE (Marty34 @ Jun 19, 2011 -> 02:19 PM) Has any other Sox GM come close to squandering the resources KW has? If you read through this thread where people have talked about the organization's history...the answer appears to be "absolutely."- Robin Ventura...Hall of Famer??
Johnny Damon is clearly not a hall of fame player.- Marlins interested in Ozzie Guillen (again)
QUOTE (justBLAZE @ Jun 19, 2011 -> 02:23 PM) A lot of that depends on White Sox season, but many here seem almost too certain Oz is gone come next year. If Ozzie Guillen does not win the AL Central this year, he should not be here next year.- Official 2011-2012 NFL Thread
QUOTE (kapkomet @ Jun 19, 2011 -> 11:40 AM) Where'd you hear this? I haven't heard where they are this close to anything. The message at the end of the week was that it was going the other way...several owners were balking on the possible deal the players and owners were approaching.- 2011-2012 OFFICIAL NBA LOCKOUT thread
QUOTE (ZoomSlowik @ Jun 18, 2011 -> 11:51 PM) The pick they got from Charlotte is heavily protected. 2012- lottery protected 2013- top-12 protected 2014- top-10 protected 2015- top-8 protected So, yeah, it's going to be a while before they actually get that pick. That hurts its value quite a bit. But...the fact that its eventually unprotected is a good thing.- NBA Predictions - (Predictabulls Part II)
QUOTE (Brian @ Jun 19, 2011 -> 01:42 PM) TWolves sign Rubio. Terms not disclosed. I'm not high on him but looking forward to seeing what all the hype is about. Hopefully sooner than later. Anybody else watching these old drafts on NBATV? it's a who's who of draft flops. How is this a 2010-2011 NBA Prediction?- Marlins manager Edwin Rodriguez resigns
That was fast.- Marlins interested in Ozzie Guillen (again)
Why not, I'll say it here too. "That was fast."- no faith and no patience in this organization
QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jun 19, 2011 -> 09:07 AM) If you want to start doing this, you could argue the 1990-1995 White Sox were more successful if you remember how good that 90 team was (Oakland was just an exceptional team at that time, nothing like them back at that time), 1993 and the cancelled 1994 team that was leading the division at the time of the strike...you could argue Himes was certainly better at drafting and developing players. You could also argue that without one of the biggest top 10 pick wins in the past 3 decades, that 1990-1995 team would have gone no where. And you'd be right. There was a fairly important single pick that determined whether or not that team was succesful.- Petition to immediately replace OG/KW with Omar or D.Martinez/Hahn
QUOTE (Cali @ Jun 19, 2011 -> 02:10 PM) And Florida's Manager resigned today... That was fast.- WTF are we waiting for ? Call up Viciedo !
QUOTE (typewritermender @ Jun 18, 2011 -> 06:33 PM) Has anyone mentioned that maybe Viciedo taking Teahen's place is more likely? Juan can be used for some speed off the bench, and he can start on sundays or something....any way KW can force Ozzie to start Viciedo even though Pierre's still on the squad? I understand Juan totally sucks but Teahen is even worse. And Viciedo plays pretty much the exact same positions as him - corner OF & Corner IF. Except he's a righty... KW needs to do SOMETHING though...yeesh. Show us we have someone in charge!!....There've been so many rookies making impact around the league this season--let's get in on the trend fergodsake! Viciedo playing once or twice a week like teahen is doing would just be ridiculous. Viciedo also does not play corner IF. Technically Teahen doesn't either, neither of them are good at it...but having Viciedo at 3b is a mistake right now. We've moved him back and forth to positions enough, let him actually learn one.- 2011 White Sox Catch-All Thread
QUOTE (justBLAZE @ Jun 19, 2011 -> 12:58 PM) Edwin Rodriguez done as a Marlins manager. Writers are reporting Marlins want Ozzie long term, but will hire interim and go after him in the offseason. That was fast.- AND THAT'S A WHITE SOX WINNER!!!
PK14 passed Jim Rice on the all time HR list.- Sox @ D-Backs, 3:10 PM, CSN

QUOTE (JoshPR @ Jun 19, 2011 -> 01:48 PM) Why Pierre and teahen??? ::shaking head:: Brent doubled and scored our first run last night. Only way he'll learn not to do that. - The Democrat Thread
