  1. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Nov 16, 2010 -> 09:06 AM) Yeah that's a garbage idea. Any savings you get there would clearly be offset by other economic damage. And you don't think you can say the same thing about getting rid of the deductions for mortgage interest, property taxes, health insurance, etc.?
  2. Ford has announced that they're releasing an all-electric version of the Focus in 2011.
  3. QUOTE (justBLAZE @ Nov 16, 2010 -> 08:48 AM) Balta I can't agree here, he can win a darn Cy Young but if the team doesn't make the playoffs then the trade is a failure? There is too many factors involved to judge this trade on the proposed criteria. If he wins a cy young award but the team doesn't make the playoffs...then he's going to walk as a FA, someone's going to give him 5/$90 and all we'll be left with is 2 nice looking draft picks.
  4. QUOTE (3E8 @ Nov 15, 2010 -> 11:07 PM) JR is good buddies with Selig, they have a mutual respect for each other. We're never going to ignore Selig's slotting system with JR at the helm. From 2008-2010, no team spent less than the White Sox on draft bonuses And yet in general...just about everyone would agree we did a much better job from 2008-2010 in the draft than we did the years beforehand, and we supplemented that with a couple major signings from elsewhere.
  5. QUOTE (Jerksticks @ Nov 15, 2010 -> 11:03 PM) So even if he pitches well it's a bad trade? What if we extend/resign him? Still bad? If he's our best pitcher next year...still bad? If Hudson sucks this year...still bad? And finally, if we win the world series and he walks...still bad? There are still a lot of scenarios where this trade is a win for the White Sox. No sense jumping to early conclusions. Kid's got twice the arm Hudson does, money aside, and he's the one on our team. I came up with this one a while ago...the only way I judge the Jackson trade a success is if he picks up 2 playoff wins for the Sox. I said that in August of last year I think, and one playoff stretch has come and gone with him winless. If we don't make the playoffs, that means in part he wasn't good enough to carry us there, so in that case the trade is a failure, because then you have to start taking the money into account again. If we make the playoffs but he's not in the rotation, then the trade is a failure because he didn't pitch well enough. If he pitches in the playoffs and falls apart, then yeah we made the playoffs, but that's a lot of money and talent to give up for a guy to pull a Vazquez. If that trade is going to be a success, he needs to pitch well enough to push himself into a playoff rotation this year, to the point that he can pick up some wins and actually perform in the playofffs.
  6. I think Cooper is 100% right when he stated flat-out that Sale will be in the big leagues next year. If no starter is traded and Peavy comes back, he'll be in the bullpen.
  7. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Nov 16, 2010 -> 01:13 AM) With out looking at stats, Phillip Rivers would be the only one I can even think of off the top of my head. Peyton and Brady may not have the yards/attempt that Vick has or the touchdowns/pass that Vick has, but part of that is the systems each are in and the presence/lack of wideouts. But look at these parts; Brady, 17 TD's, 4 INT's, Manning 16 TD's, 4 INT's. Manning has thrown 386 passes, Brady 304, Vick 153.
  8. QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Nov 15, 2010 -> 11:28 PM) And those are some pathetic choices. Honestly...if you wanted to be 100% accurate, you'd probably have picked the President of the United States every year since 2001.
  9. Lonely place...
  10. QUOTE (bmags @ Nov 16, 2010 -> 08:19 AM) oneway would be to move over their money to more secure bonds the closer they get to retirement age so they are less averse to risk. And then the government hits the debt limit and decides to default on its bonds.
  11. QUOTE (mr_genius @ Nov 15, 2010 -> 11:58 PM) well that part is bulls*** Hey, if you want to cut taxes on the top bracket by 1/3, somebody's gotta pay for it, and it defeats the purpose if the top bracket has to pay for it.
  12. I gotta get my rocks off somehow.
  13. Geologists don't like life. They tend to prefer the results of the combination of yeast and sugars.
  14. Dinophilus do like you. They want to digest you.
  15. QUOTE (zenryan @ Nov 15, 2010 -> 09:51 PM) a stop here and we might have something brewing Has there been a punt in this game?
  16. Bats though...have this odd thing where they don't like you.
  17. Oh, by the way, another thing I missed the first few times through. 2k5? I have to admit. I was wrong. Obama is coming for your retirement.
  18. QUOTE (lostfan @ Nov 15, 2010 -> 09:43 PM) I wonder is the FCC going to shut down this horrific broadcasting of a live rape/snuff film. If this was a dog fight Vick would be getting the electric bath ready for the Redskins. What a throw by McNabb.
  19. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Nov 15, 2010 -> 07:00 PM) Putz back is good. If Jenks will take a cheap deal, great. But I doubt he will, and I am not even sure the Sox will offer. Putz closing, with Thornton and Santos setting up, isn't too bad. Linebrink will still be there, plus a LOOGY from the scrap heap more than likely. That leaves two open spots (if Putz re-signs). I'd love to see one of them go to Infante/Bellamy, and have a good long man for the other slot, but I'd be open to Jenks there instead of I/B, if Jenks would sign for like $2M or less. Basically, if they can sign Putz, I feel decent about the pen. I'm much more concerned with C, 1B, DH and RF (or whatever combo occurs there). Well...if the Sox don't trade a starter, then they don't need a LOOGY...Sale will be there.
  20. Zoo animals stopped liking you a while ago Flaxx.
  21. QUOTE (beckham15 @ Nov 15, 2010 -> 09:19 PM) person of the year for what? backstabbing his home state to take his "talents" to south beach, wtf The title is supposed to be given to the person who had the greatest influence/effect on the world in the year. Of course, they usually ignore that rule any more to give it to someone who's actually politically palatable.
  22. Xanthochroic is probably not a word he ever used.
  23. Very soon you will. Or at least you'll have a facebook question about it.
  24. QUOTE (kapkomet @ Nov 15, 2010 -> 06:54 PM) We can only hope. Damn, did I just type that out loud? For corn harvest.
