  1. QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 22, 2010 -> 05:02 PM) Linebrink in? Why do you warm up Jackson then? Well, Jackson probably is used to a very long warmup routine.
  2. Linebrink? Surprising.
  3. Rios got a couple hittable pitches there and didn't do anything.
  4. WTF was that? I certainly didn't see the balk.
  5. QUOTE (AWhiteSoxinNJ @ Aug 22, 2010 -> 04:47 PM) NO TV and concessions was the reason. That 12:00 start where nothing is broadcast is equally annoying. We'd get one of those a year in Minnesota usually because of a Gophers game.
  6. Lou Pinella is losing his last game 14-3.
  7. QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 22, 2010 -> 04:51 PM) We'll see Jackson for the rest of this game likely. I like this.
  8. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Aug 22, 2010 -> 04:50 PM) And 3 extra inning games in under 24 hours. This is going to be inning what, 31, of White Sox baseball today?
  9. QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 22, 2010 -> 04:49 PM) Jenks for starter? You know as well as I do the reason that he moved to the bullpen was he couldn't maintain fastball velocity.
  10. ::::Tips hat to Bobby Jenks:::
  11. Bobby Jenks keeping his fastball velocity for 3 innings? I genuinely don't think I've ever seen that. Even in 05/06, he'd lose 5 mph each inning.
  12. So Lou Pinella is losing his last game 13-3?
  13. QUOTE (Chet Kincaid @ Aug 22, 2010 -> 04:48 PM) It seems like the Sox can't buy a run. And Jenks coming out for another inning? Oh wait, Edwin Jackson is in the bullpen. The Royals though can't buy a run either, and despite Hawk's rants, he's been right...the ump has helped them a lot and that never holds up.
  14. QUOTE (chw42 @ Aug 22, 2010 -> 04:47 PM) EJax warming. I love that move. Legitimately.
  15. QUOTE (lostfan @ Aug 22, 2010 -> 04:30 PM) I don't recall mr. G ever being a fan of the Afghanistan war Of course not...Republicans never liked that war, it wasn't exciting enough, that's why we wound up in Iraq.
  16. QUOTE (JorgeFabregas @ Aug 22, 2010 -> 04:43 PM) They have a better record than the White Sox with their best players injured and they play in the toughest division in baseball. Well, the Red Sox made some gambles that didn't work. The Sox got to 20 in blackjack and asked for 2 more cards.
  17. QUOTE (maggsmaggs @ Aug 22, 2010 -> 04:36 PM) I love Frank, but he is horrible as a commentator. With Hawk and Stone, you get a perfect balance of homerism and mild objectivity. Perfect match of hitting and pitching philosophies. And perfect combination of loud and boisterous (when things go bad) crazy guy with the subdued and soft, sane guy. Hawk and Wimpy was a great match for a long time as well.
  18. QUOTE (Elgin Slim @ Aug 22, 2010 -> 04:42 PM) Actually the pitcher that Sale reminds me most of is, in fact, Andrew Miller. Mid 90s heat, high 80s change, low 80s slider. Same pitches actually. Hopefully they have different careers. Stuff wise, I keep having flashbacks to pre-surgery Liriano whenever I watch Sale.
  19. QUOTE (Chet Kincaid @ Aug 22, 2010 -> 04:41 PM) Does anyone else have a sinking feeling about the end of this game? I've felt worse. I don't feel that bad about this one.
  20. QUOTE (iamshack @ Aug 22, 2010 -> 04:29 PM) Santos is your RH setup man, and you offer Putz $6-7 million to be the closer. Frankly, I have to say...ugh. Putz at closer seems to me to be just asking for a breakdown middle of next season. A closer you can't use 2 days in a row? That's as bad as a closer you can't pitch in the afternoon. This is the classic dilemma with a guy like him...he's worth a ton more long term as a starting pitcher throwing 200 innings than he is working short term in the bullpen pitching 50 innings...but the thing between him and being a #1 starter is command of all of his offspeed stuff, and he's never going to get that working 50 innings out of the pen. All he needs in the pen is to throw the fastball for a strike and to throw the curveball somewhere other than the backstop because the first and second guy to see it will still have to swing. Sale's already in the 150 innings range with his arm thanks to the cape cod league and college. If you cut him back to 50 innings next year, it'll take 2 or 3 years to get him back where he's a legit, 200 inning a year starter. After the AFL this year, he'll be right there. Unless the team thinks his arm just will never handle starting and he'll go Liriano on the team...he has to be starting in the minors next year.
  21. QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 22, 2010 -> 04:36 PM) Last person he said that about has been a massive bust in the minors (Andrew Miller). He hasn't used that phrase much, nor has he used "he was all-state in two states". Did he use that phrase about pre-surgery Liriano?
  22. QUOTE (WinorDie88 @ Aug 22, 2010 -> 04:34 PM) Butler's going deep. Butler's not that great of a "power" hitter. He'd fit well as a cog in our lineup because we have a lot of HR power already and a HR ballpark, but he's a doubles hitter.
  23. QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Aug 22, 2010 -> 04:33 PM) I understand what you are saying there, but I would think using Pierre's speed might be better or at least hit and run and use his speed and Vizquel's ability to make contact If you're that worried about Pierre's ability to take 2nd on the straight steal, then try the hit and run. If we're giving up runs on the basepaths I like that better than the Kotsay straight steal we saw earlier. Or the AJ bunt attempt.
  24. QUOTE (greg775 @ Aug 22, 2010 -> 04:32 PM) Yes with man on in eighth and none out, why not bunt him over? Then you have 2 chances for clutch hit. Because it's not that useful to lead the league in stolen bases if you can't steal a base when you need it.
  25. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Aug 22, 2010 -> 04:23 PM) Maybe we're trying to get the record for most outs given up in a season? What would the record be?
