  1. QUOTE (GreatScott82 @ Jul 20, 2010 -> 06:01 PM) You don't think they will throw in $4 mill for 2011? I know its far fetched for a team like Milwaukee to do so. . . but a Hudson/Viciedo centered package is pretty damn solid. Really, I think the Brewers would expect to significantly beat that package, in addition to not taking on salary, in a Fielder trade. I don't think the Sox could do it without starting at Beckham +.
  2. QUOTE (GreatScott82 @ Jul 20, 2010 -> 05:50 PM) with Milwaukee throwing some us some cash. Now that I can't imagine.
  3. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jul 20, 2010 -> 05:45 PM) I agree KW should not go all in. We are pretty much overachieving right now. Really, I disagree on this. When you look at the season stats for the guy who was supposed to be our #1 starter for example, he put up a 7-6 record and a 4.6 ERA before he went down. Our #2 starter hasn't been that stellar either. Yet, we have a run differential right now of +34, 2nd best in the division and a notch below the Twins, and that number is consistent to within a game or two of our record. If I look at the roster, there's still only a handful of guys I'd say overachieved. Konerko first and foremost, followed a ways back by Rios, Putz, Vizquel, Garcia. You can argue that basically everyone we were counting on to carry this team except Konerko has underachieved and we're still pretty close to where we should be.
  4. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jul 20, 2010 -> 04:55 PM) Yeah but trading Dayan and/or Flowers and Hudson might be depressing. Not just depressing...really damaging to 2011.
  5. QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ Jul 20, 2010 -> 04:20 PM) I believe you are correct about the 40 man roster point, although I think our 40 only has 39 on it right now anyways, so he could easily be added. Jake Peavy could also be moved to the 60 day DL at any point to clear a 40 man spot.
  6. Supposedly, the company that did the filming has sent the full video to the NAACP, and the NAACP head is personally calling the lady at the moment according to his twitter feed.
  7. QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ Jul 20, 2010 -> 03:25 PM) If that is true, shame on the administration for being more interested in covering their own asses than finding out, you know, what actually happened. On that one, I think we can almost guarantee that the higher ups saw the video and said "This person needs to be gone right now". It's a damn inflammatory video if taken fully at face value.
  8. QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ Jul 20, 2010 -> 03:20 PM) I don't understand why she would resign if that's the case. Just take the firing instead, so that if it comes out that you're right and the video is out of context, you play a much better victim. Because the Administration came down hard on her last night. To the point that she probably was going to lose her job either by firing or by resignation, and I'm sure there's some benefit that you keep if you resign.
  9. QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ Jul 20, 2010 -> 03:16 PM) I agree on wanting to see the whole video, but I would have even had the conspiracy allegations not been out there. Her explanation is that the rest of the video was a discussion of how she overcame her own initial prejudice in the case.
  10. QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Jul 20, 2010 -> 03:14 PM) Yeah, GMAFB. Imagine if this was a white worker saying that stuff about a black family. Balta I'm sure you'd be all over the defense of that white worker right? Well, I'd at least want to see the whole video.
  11. QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ Jul 20, 2010 -> 02:58 PM) Yeah Atlanta and Pittsburgh are not good for hitters. And the NL to AL numbers downsize tends to hit pitchers much more than it does hitters as far as I'm aware of. I will grant, there are some guys who just seem unable to hit in the opposite league for whatever reason. Holliday was that way for a while, LaRoche had the rep of not being able to hit outside of Atlanta until this year.
  12. QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ Jul 20, 2010 -> 02:57 PM) You can be a racist without oppressing anybody. So far, the NAACP has already started walking back their criticism of her and are now "Investigating", and CNN right wing blogger correspondent Erickson posted this a moment ago. When you have a case of a person being fired for remarks from an edited video clip and have the people discussed in that video clip openly defending them...well at least I wonder how well it will stand up as "this person is a horrible racist" once the full video clip is out. It wouldn't be the first time that Breitbart has taken people down based on horribly edited videos.
  13. QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Jul 20, 2010 -> 02:53 PM) Can we really expect him to produce the same outside of Atlanta and Pittsburgh and Arizona? Frankly, the Cell is a much better hitters' park than Atlanta, for example.
  14. QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Jul 20, 2010 -> 02:48 PM) lol, why are you backing a racist? Because the end result was ok? It's interesting for her to be a racist if that's the reaction of the person she was oppressing, that's all I'll say for now until the full video is released.
  15. Anyone want to give odds on Sandberg being his replacement?
  16. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Jul 20, 2010 -> 02:21 PM) Would you have traded Frank Thomas in 2002? Was Frank a Free Agent at the end of 2002 (or at the worst a guy with an expensive, not likely to be picked up unless he heals a lot and soon club option?)
  17. QUOTE (scenario @ Jul 20, 2010 -> 02:19 PM) And had the May from hell it appears. As I've noted previously, that's the specific month when the Sox supposedly had him start trying a major overhaul of his swing to try to reduce the number of K's.
  18. Also from that last link:
  19. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Jul 20, 2010 -> 12:29 PM) Wait, did you just intimate that the 2006 Sox missed the playoffs because of Mack in CF? Seriously? I know this is off topic, but it couldn't be ignored. That is insane. I'll go to my grave saying that if Rob Mackowiak hadn't played CF for the 2006 Sox after June 1, 2006, that Sox team makes the playoffs. I can't prove it in the stats, so don't ask me to. But every bloody game, every time there was a big inning, one of the first 2 runners on got there on a misplay by Mack, or the biggest hit came on a ball Anderson would have caught. Every time he played in CF he was worth 2 runs and 25 extra pitches on the starter.
  20. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Jul 20, 2010 -> 01:52 PM) Hm, I was hoping Berkman was still in the discussion. But really, which of those three the team wants is dictated by what they want for them, and we have no idea what the other teams are asking. I've got to figure if Berkman's not in the discussion, it's because of medical reports and not because of asking price. Of course, that's assuming some level of intelligence in Houston.
  21. I'll have to admit, I disappoint myself in not knowing more non-mainstream guitarists. Outside of the ones people have already listed, I have to add Kim Thayil and Mike McCready.

QUOTE (WhiteSoxfan1986 @ Jul 20, 2010 -> 01:35 PM) So, the fan on my laptop stopped working, making the computer really hot. The problem is, I searched all over Gateway's website and couldn't find any fans, the only thing they had were those cooling pads that have a fan in it. If I were to buy a cooling pad would it basically workt the same way as a fan? Or would I ultimately need to replace the fan? Just wondering if anybody else has had the same problem. I seriously doubt that buying a cooling pad would be adequate for most laptops, simply because of the positioning of everything. Also, take a moment and weight the cost/benefit of each step. If you purchase a cooling pad and it doesn't work...the sign that it doesn't work is going to be your computer burning out completely, because it'll keep any hot spot from showing up on the outside. Or maybe an exploding battery.
