White Sox at Twins 7-18 game thread 1:05 first pitch
QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 18, 2010 -> 02:18 PM) J4L, I'm still not sold Rios is 100% healthy. He got all of those days off prior to the ASB (for reasons that were never explained) He's at least not hitting nearly as hard as he was through the first part of June.

Jayson Werth
QUOTE (PlunketChris @ Jul 18, 2010 -> 02:13 PM) Anyone know what the Phillies have been asking for him? The talk out there has been that the Phils would obviously rather move Ibanez than Werth (you know...that's not the worst idea I've ever heard either). Anyway, Major League starting pitching under the Phils control after 2010 and Right handed power to replace Werth. I don't know if Hudson + Flowers would do it in their mind...but those guys actually fill those 2 roles. Of course, Carlos Ruiz just signed a 3 year deal as their catcher.

QUOTE (justBLAZE @ Jul 18, 2010 -> 01:56 PM) This is as 'big game' as it gets Freddy. I can think of a bigger one that FG pitched for us.

Promote Morel for better defense
QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jul 18, 2010 -> 11:16 AM) All you need to know about Viciedo and 3B is the White Sox moved him to first. I really doubt they have any illusions he'll be anything but poor there, but he's not up for his glove. There was a lot to that decision though. They thought his bat would be ready before his glove would be ready at 3rd, and holding back an expensive guy in the minors to work on his glove isn't a very good move. On top of that, Teahen and Morel have possible roles at 3b. If nothing else, he has a really good throwing arm for a 3b, which you can't teach. The other stuff...reactions and non-bad moves, can be taught.

Please DH Quentin
Quentin shouldn't have been in the lineup yesterday.

Jayson Werth
QUOTE (Kalapse @ Jul 18, 2010 -> 02:05 PM) He's put up a .380+ wOBA/.880 OPS every month this season outside of July. So, you're saying, wait until the exact deadline before dealing for him.

The Democrat Thread
Government control of banking? Well, I guess you could call it that...since the banks control the government.

What band would you wish to reunite?
QUOTE (GoodAsGould @ Jul 18, 2010 -> 01:58 PM) I thought Soundgarden already did reunite, but give me Audioslave for a band Id want to get back together and if talking about dead people it has to be Nirvana. Well, if you're giving dead people, I'm not their biggest fan but even I'll say this band called "the Beat-les".

Adam Dunn Trade rumor thread
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 18, 2010 -> 12:59 PM) I'd bring him in and offer arbit. Sounds like there is no chance he takes it.; Bah, even if he accepted arbitration, he'd still be tradeable at the 1 year arbitration value.

Jayson Werth
Hmph, I've gotten the impression that he hasn't been that good in 2010 but his numbers don't agree with that at all.

QUOTE (greg775 @ Jul 17, 2010 -> 09:17 PM) The guy hit a home run and went 2-for-4. I love message boards. I'll agree, "Time to cut the strings with him" is a crazy response there.

QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 17, 2010 -> 09:15 PM) chw, that wrist was clearly bothering him. Probably will for another 3 days or so. I think it'll bother him less tomorrow, unless he heals slower from bruises than I do.

QUOTE (chw42 @ Jul 17, 2010 -> 09:14 PM) Carlos looked like crap today. I hope that wrist isn't bothering him. I can't believe he was playing today. There's no way that his wrist was so bad he couldn't play yesterday and he was 100% today.

QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 17, 2010 -> 09:09 PM) The hitters just were not focused tonight. At least we get to see Therapist tomorrow. I'm not sure if "Focused" is the right word. Swinging early against Pavano was the right move. But they were pull-happy...they wanted to pull everything from the outside edge, which was an obvious mistake that they never corrected.

(Insert Celeb Here) is Dead

QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 17, 2010 -> 09:06 PM) He has to have better at bats than that. If his swing is so feeble at the offspeed stuff, then he better just hit the s*** out of any fastballs he sees. He had to know they weren't going to give him good pitches to hit right off the bat, he needed to be more patient than that. 2 of those were terrible pitches.

QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 17, 2010 -> 08:49 PM) Problem is I really don't want to see Omar leading off the 9th. Terrible baserunning but I'll take it.

QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 17, 2010 -> 08:51 PM) Lost a step, if not more. He would have been out by 5 feet the first time if the throw was good. He should have been safe by 5 feet even with a very good throw.
