  1. QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ Jul 9, 2010 -> 03:58 PM) @WojYahooNBA - Tyrus Thomas has reached agreement on 5-year, $40 million contract to stay with Charlotte, league sources say. Wow.
  2. QUOTE (Y2HH @ Jul 9, 2010 -> 09:50 AM) I wish he hadn't missed and killed them both. You know...we used to get really angry when we saw posts like this.
  3. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Jul 9, 2010 -> 10:08 AM) Miami would be the favorite, yes, but I still think the Bulls would have a chance to beat them in a series and win a title. Exactly. If you added LBJ(clone) to a team that he's a perfect fit for (i.e. the Bulls with Deng traded for a SG) the Heat would still be the favorites. There is, therefore, no single player in the NBA you could add to the Bulls's roster to make me think they could beat this Heat team. There's no way JR goes over the cap. Especially not before the lockout season.
  4. QUOTE (thxfrthmmrs @ Jul 9, 2010 -> 10:08 AM) can someone tell me how the heat manage to sign miller for $30 million, presumably $5 million the first season? the big 3 and chalmers takes about $51 millions. that plus 8 cap holds will not be enough for them to sign a $5 million contract. This is really screw up that the heat is taking away everyone's free agent this offseason. I hope the big 3 gets injured all at the same time and they have to sport their lineup of scrubs. They can backload a deal like Miller's and not have to worry about the cap rules as much.
  5. QUOTE (Controlled Chaos @ Jul 9, 2010 -> 09:52 AM) WAIT FOR THE WHISTLE!!! I don't know what that means.
  6. QUOTE (Controlled Chaos @ Jul 9, 2010 -> 09:46 AM) I wonder if this sets any kind of precedent for future free agents. I mean I don't think so, because they have to see some of the backlash here... but I can see them trying to one up each other. Make everyone come to him...give a pitch...hold out on a decision. I think the precedent that is set is that the NBA Owners will make things much harder on the players in the 2011 CBA.
  7. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Jul 9, 2010 -> 09:16 AM) I agree with all your points about the luxury tax, but if adding Lebron makes the team a title contender, then adding Kobe would undoubtedly make them a contender. Adding Lebron would have...before the Miami trio existed. If you cloned Lebron and added him to the Bulls right now, I'd still pick Miami.
  8. By the way, for Bulls fans, it's probably worth pointing out that JR's rule for going into the luxury tax is that he would only do so for a team that he thought could win a title. This team can't win a title. They can't win a title if they add another $15 million shooting guard. I don't know if they could win a title if they added Kobe straight up to this roster. In other words...the Bulls are now sitting there with Boozer on a huge contract, Deng on a huge contract, Noah and Rose bordering on extensions, no SG, and they may well not add on anything major since doing so might push them over the tax level when Noah is extended.
  9. QUOTE (Brian @ Jul 9, 2010 -> 08:18 AM) Chances Bosh finishes out his contract with Miami? If this 3-some doesn't work after a few years, you know he will be the odd man out to dump salary and spend on other pieces no matter how good he is playing. It'll work, now that they're already adding the filler pieces. The only thing that would stop it is 2 of the 3 getting hurt or the next CBA somehow cracking down hard on this, like limiting a team to 1 maximum value contract.
  10. QUOTE (T R U @ Jul 9, 2010 -> 12:30 AM) I was thinking about that while I was listening in the car and I think I have come to the conclusion that it is ESPN that made it the big deal it was.. All I heard was that LeBron had asked for a press conference, and I am sure that ESPN was the ones behind making it some hour long special.. I seriously doubt that LeBron requested to have the special, seeing as he just answered like 5 questions before saying he chose Miami.. it would have gone on longer if he was the one trying to make this some hour long event.. How hard is it to say "No"?
  11. QUOTE (T R U @ Jul 9, 2010 -> 12:28 AM) I would bet you that they do in fact win 70 or more IMO, there's only 1 thing that would keep them from doing so...Riley/Spoelstra deciding to take the foot off the gas down the stretch. If they beat up on everyone else in the East like i think they will and neither the Bulls, Hawks, nor Magic can push upwards of 60 wins (name another team I'm forgetting?) and I don't think any of them can...they wrap up home court in the East with 10+ games left to go. Add in an arthritic finger for Kobe...
  12. QUOTE (hitlesswonder @ Jul 9, 2010 -> 12:26 AM) If Leitch is implying that this will lose the NBA fans...I don't know. The NBA now has a great villain. And I'm sure the league will use the refs in the finals to make sure there's some drama about whether or not Miami wins the ship next season. It doesn't matter if you have a great villain if there's no one to challenge it.
  13. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 9, 2010 -> 12:24 AM) You know which GM would love to have 9 open roster spots to fill with old guys who he could offer the minimum to? Our very own KW! I have nothing positive I can say about this post. I really feel bad about having read it.
  14. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Jul 8, 2010 -> 04:57 PM) I think he'll be fine, but seriously, keeping him away from Minnesota would be for the good of the team. It's very possible that Mauer/Morneau/Kubel/Thome/Hudson could rip him to shreds. I wouldn't "worry" about that as much as I would want my best 3 pitchers facing the Twins and Tigers every time possible down the stretc.
  15. QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Jul 9, 2010 -> 12:19 AM) Bosh just went on ESPN and compared his time in Toronto as being like a caged wolf watching others eating meat. He's clearly a giant dick. Ok, he needs to shut up too. This is going to be such an easy league to not care about.
  16. QUOTE (MurcieOne @ Jul 9, 2010 -> 12:14 AM) In phoner w/ AP, Gilbert says "People have covered up for [James] for way too long. Tonight we saw who he really is." Someone should really give Gilbert some Purple Drank and mellow him out. By "People" he means "I"
  17. QUOTE (RME JICO @ Jul 9, 2010 -> 12:12 AM) I feel bad for Cleveland and Drew Carey. He not only left them, but he did it on national tv. I am still shocked that he needed a special to do that. I bet it doesn't look nearly as bad to non-hardcore fans. "Oh, how nice of him to help out the boys and girls club".
  18. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 9, 2010 -> 12:10 AM) Bosh is a total piece of s***. I've said a few times how hated he is by people at Ga Tech who dealt with him. He's always been so worried about his perception. He's got a point though, I'm not sure Bosh did anything wrong. He's an ideal 2nd fiddle and played that role.
  19. QUOTE (SoxFanForever @ Jul 9, 2010 -> 12:05 AM) So what happens if Bosh or Wade go down for an extended period of time? Bosh hasn't played over 80 games since 2004-2005 and Wade isn't exactly a symbol of health. Then they'll still have a better roster than the Cavs had last year.
  20. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 8, 2010 -> 11:54 PM) I guess Josh Cribbs is going to put up a huge banner in downtown Cleveland saying that he's staying there, and that he's true to his word. Seriously? Will it be up this weekend? I'll be there starting tomorrow.
  21. QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Jul 8, 2010 -> 11:51 PM) Holy crap, Kahn. How many forwards do you need? If the Bulls hadn't signed Boozer, Al Jefferson probably would now have been available.
  22. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jul 8, 2010 -> 11:50 PM) STEIN_LINE_HQ Wolves-Heat deal, sources say, calls for 'Sota to absorb Beasley into cap space and send its 2011 second-round pick to Miami to seal deal Wolves just got a steal. Former 2 overall never given a chance to really get going in Miami. And there's the cap space they'll need to sign 2 more role players in addition to their minimum guys.
  23. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 8, 2010 -> 11:45 PM) About 90 minutes ago, I said I'd love to see a tell-all from a pissed off Cleveland org member What if his name was "Dan Gilbert"? How much would he get for those book rights?
  24. QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Jul 8, 2010 -> 11:44 PM) You know what's really exciting about this Gibert thing? Things are going to start leaking like a motherf***er from over there. I expect confirmation of the West-Gloria James thing in a week. You know, I think you're 100% right. They have been doing everything possible to keep him happy and make him stay, and I think it's gone the whole way through the city because he's been instrumental in starting to revive their downtown.
  25. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 8, 2010 -> 11:42 PM) wow, not only did he lose his franchise tonight, but he lost his dignity I think he gave that away the last few years trying to make Lebron happy.
