  1. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ May 29, 2010 -> 07:55 PM) Carlos Quentin will hit 25-30 homers this season. True or false? If he snaps out of it, returns to his 2008 form, and stays healthy, he still hits 30+. I'll say False until he earns my confidence again. It's like saying I won't believe in G*d until I see a miracle.
  2. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ May 29, 2010 -> 07:51 PM) The only problem with this game is Danks is already at 35 pitches. Which means Santos, Putz, Pena and Thornton are going to need to go 4 innings probably. And how many times can Matty and Santos pitch back-to-back? If D1 holds this lead he can still go at least 5+. If he's pulled before 5, the Rays will have more than 1 run in.
  3. QUOTE (kapkomet @ May 29, 2010 -> 07:47 PM) Well, I don't think any of us can disagree with this sentiment. If the government-done estimate of 2-4 Exxons was right (and frankly I'm still skeptical but I can believe that more than BP's number), I was somewhat hopeful it might be still small enough for Florida to be somewhat safe. If it keeps rolling for several more months at that rate, or even worse if the mix becomes more oil and less gas as the reservoir starts to deplete, then it's gonna coat the whole bloody coast. Losing Louisiana is bad enough, but I really liked Florida too. I once watched a Shuttle launch across the Gulf from a west-facing beach near Panama City at 6:00 a.m. on a Geology trip. Sigh. That beach is gonna be lost.
  4. QUOTE (Kalapse @ May 29, 2010 -> 07:47 PM) Quentin's 4th HR in 12 career games in Tampa, some of his most impressive bombs have come at the Trop. I really, really missed him for those games at the end of 2008. That would have been a totally different series.
  5. That's the kind of mistake I'm used to seeing from the Sox.
  6. Well, now we have a great opportunity for everyone in Illinois to vote against a man who incorrectly exaggerated his military record. I'm sure they'll hold it strongly against this guy right?
  7. QUOTE (fathom @ May 29, 2010 -> 07:40 PM) I'm sorry, but our veterans' attitude sucks. AJP slammed his bat down after he grounds out, and then Kotsay throws his bat away after popping up. Carlos Quentin threw that bat away too!
  8. QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ May 29, 2010 -> 07:39 PM) Nah, Peavy. http://chicago.whitesox.mlb.com/video/play...88&c_id=cws I mean that's Buehrle wearing the Catcher's mask. Peavy's on the mound, Buehle's catching. That's the joke.
  9. QUOTE (kapkomet @ May 29, 2010 -> 07:35 PM) If you want to sell health insurance, you will sell it through government regulations. Then they could very easily have not rigged the system against everyone in it. But that would have made the shareholders unhappy.
  10. QUOTE (kapkomet @ May 29, 2010 -> 07:36 PM) No, but everything you post is how great their system is, more or less, because you want the same regulations and government control. So, just go live there. So...you're admitting...you think China is what an economy with regulations on it looks like. And you wonder why we don't respect your opinions of what is "Socialism"?
  11. QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ May 29, 2010 -> 07:36 PM) Hey, A.J. What do you say next time you have one of your awesome black and white colored, traditional games of catch with Peavy, you tell him to stop shaking you off. I hate these damn commercials. Um, I thought that was Buehrle in that commercial with him?
  12. This is the 2nd one of those nights he's had in a row.
  13. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 29, 2010 -> 02:52 PM) Kinda like giving the government more power... Yeah, we should put BP and GS in charge of the immigration services.
  14. QUOTE (kapkomet @ May 29, 2010 -> 11:47 AM) Go live in China. Seriously. You consider China's government to be thorough, un-corrupt, and good at taking care of its people over businesses? I have some toothpaste and toys you can put in your mouth. I promise, they're just as safe as offshore drilling.
  15. F*** F*** F*** F*** F*** F*** F*** F*** F*** F*** F*** F*** F*** *F*** F*** F*** F***. Really, there are no other options. They'll try stuff, but this was the one that had to work. This will be going until the relief wells hit. This one was a 50/50 shot at worst. The rest of them are 10 to 1 chances; it doesn't hurt to try, but they tried this one first for a reason.
  16. QUOTE (lostfan @ May 29, 2010 -> 05:05 PM) I was hoping this was how the Supreme Court could rule. And it was unanimous, at that. The NFL doesn't really care about its consumers and takes them for granted because they aren't going anywhere and tries to extend that as far as it possibly can, so it's nice to see the NFL get slapped in the face every now and again. It's exactly that attitude that I think is going to wind up with a serious labor dispute costing game time in 2011.
  17. QUOTE (SoxFan562004 @ May 29, 2010 -> 05:52 PM) (Although I think the Clippers could be a great spot, but not sure any of those guys want to share the city with Kobe and be on the 2nd team) It's not just that it's the 2nd team in that city. I wouldn't have a problem if it was the 2nd team in a city like L.A. My problem would be...it's the most chronically dysfunctional sports organization in history.
  18. QUOTE (DBAHO @ May 29, 2010 -> 12:11 PM) And to think Hedo rejected a 4/33 deal from Otis Smith last off-season; I actually think he's going to try to get back to Orlando possibly. How could he get a release? No team's going to buy him out for $25 million.
  19. Crawford stopped at 3rd and Pierre still couldn't throw him out or keep the runner at 2nd.
  20. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ May 29, 2010 -> 01:18 PM) It is definitely something that needs to be taken into consideration during the next CBA. I'm not sure there's any way around it at this point...when the difference in salary between an arb-eligible player and a pre-arb player has gotten so high. What's worth more wins to you, the $15 million you save by holding the guy pre-arb for another year, or the 2 months of having the rookie up.
