QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ May 28, 2010 -> 04:02 PM) Have you lived anywhere that you were on the west slopes of a large mountain range? Well, the San Bernadinos and the Sierra Nevada, but those systems are still dominated by the presence of the Pacific Ocean.

Sox vs. Rays @ 6:10 Garcia (3-3 5.68) vs. Price (7-1 2.41)
QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ May 28, 2010 -> 03:57 PM) In the long-term, I'd rather seem that lineup then any lineup with Vizquel or Kotsay in it. For now, Kotsay can ride his hot streak, but the nine i listed are the best guys on the roster (which says more bad then good.) And until Beckham and Quentin start hitting, I'm not going to complain one iota if they keep rotating through the bench every 2-3 days to work on their swings in the batting cage.

QUOTE (witesoxfan @ May 28, 2010 -> 03:59 PM) I don't like that he traded for Juan Pierre, but I'm not mad that he traded away Link and Ely. Both are mediocre prospects. The Dodgers disagree.

Scot Gregor wonders if a Quentin for Fukudome trade could benefit both
QUOTE (The Beast @ May 28, 2010 -> 03:56 PM) Because their minor league system doesn't suck, just like the Minnesota Twins'. Frankly, the Cubs's system isn't anything to write home about at all. They're at best in the lower part of MLB, along with the Sox.

QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ May 28, 2010 -> 03:49 PM) I'm not talking about tonights game in particular, i just haven't seen a lineup with our best nine (A.J, Konerko, Beckham, Teahen, Ramirez, Jones, Rios, Pierre, TCQ) in some time. We're abusing versatility. That's the point. They're not our best 9.

I don't know if I've ever lived anywhere that thunderstorms regularly roll in from the East like they do here.

QUOTE (fathom @ May 27, 2010 -> 05:23 PM) Cardinals got off to a hot start cause Rasmus was playing out of his mind. They need him to start making contact again.= Rasmus is 2/3 today with a double.

Sox vs. Rays @ 6:10 Garcia (3-3 5.68) vs. Price (7-1 2.41)
QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ May 28, 2010 -> 03:40 PM) Are we ever going to throw out an actual starting lineup with (what should be) our nine starters? It just seems like we keep going from having TCQ out, Kotsay in, Jones out, AJ out, Castro in without rhyme or reason. Mark Kotsay has 0 hits this year against LHP. David Price probably isn't exactly a pushover from that side. Quentin has been awful the whole season, and Kotsay has been hot (>.900 OPS) for the last 3 weeks. Jones has struggled the last month but has still been vastly better than Quentin.

Do the Cubs include Castro?

You know, I hate reading things like this from writers I enjoy reading...because it just convinces me they have no idea what they're talking about when it comes to the Sox, and so why should I trust them about other teams? Flowers and Hudson as assisted solutions to this team? Not buying it. Flowers has struggled, Hudson's just finding a grove, and Garcia isn't even the pitcher in the rotation with the worst numbers.- Tensions Grow in Korea
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 28, 2010 -> 03:04 PM) Their program started in 1962. This isn't something new. The bulk of their uranium enrichment happened in late 2002, while we were building up to the Iraq war. No citation for this one, I just know the people who did the measurements.- Tensions Grow in Korea
QUOTE (DukeNukeEm @ May 28, 2010 -> 02:57 PM) You think without us around NK would've just sat there and watched the South? You think that cutting off negotiations with them for years and calling them "Evil" until they restarted their uranium enrichment facilities (Happened in late 2002 btw) and then test-detonated a bomb worked out well for us?- May Catch All White Sox Thread
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 28, 2010 -> 01:50 PM) You know how dumb those Sanford guys are... Yeah, they think the Appalachian Trail runs through Argentina. (/rimshot!)- 2010 Cubs Thread
QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ May 28, 2010 -> 02:36 PM) Cubs 1st meeting of the year with the Cards this afternoon. Randy Wells gives up hits to the first 6 batters he faces, gets pulled down 5-0, runner on 2nd, nobody out. QUOTE (fathom @ May 27, 2010 -> 04:58 PM) Cubs in great position to catch up to the Cardinals in the standings after this weekend, as the Cardinals offense is really slowing down.- Tensions Grow in Korea
QUOTE (DukeNukeEm @ May 28, 2010 -> 02:43 PM) Because the insurgent groups in Iraq and Taliban in Afghanistan are clearly states. How much did going around and threatening people for 8 years scare the regimes in North Korea, Iraq (prior to invasion), Iran, Europe, Russia, the rest of Asia, etc.? Teddy Roosevelt had it right; the speaking softly part is important.- May Catch All White Sox Thread
We would have gotten nothing for Dye in 2007. The offer was Willy Mo Pena, and we couldn't even get the Red Sox to include a reliever.- Gordon Beckham: What To Do?
QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ May 28, 2010 -> 11:58 AM) Sometimes, the glass is half full because somebody drank half of your drink and then spiked it with a date rape drug while you were in the bathroom. QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ May 28, 2010 -> 12:00 PM) Lance DEFINITELY deserves credit: he's used beating cancer to hide being a cheater and a bad guy better than almost anybody else could in my opinion. Link- Tensions Grow in Korea
QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ May 28, 2010 -> 11:51 AM) In fairness, he isn't talking about "our country", he is talking mostly about "our government". And the 2010 White Sox. I'm not a big fan of them right now either.- Gordon Beckham: What To Do?

QUOTE (BearSox @ May 28, 2010 -> 11:43 AM) It'd be nice to have a GM who doesn't rush into things and only focuses on bringing in good, solid ball players. No matter what your viewpoint is, sabermetrics or traditional, it doesn't matter as long as you do your homework and bring in the best players possible. That is what I want to see out of our GM. Who did he not do his homework on?- A Cold Weather Super Bowl!

QUOTE (SoxAce @ May 28, 2010 -> 10:43 AM) It will be nice to have a GM that understands the sabermetrics side of the game that is for sure. You think Kenny doesn't understand it?- Ozzie and KW - what will happen?
QUOTE (fathom @ May 28, 2010 -> 11:09 AM) Like you said, I don't care what his batting average is right now. I'd rather he have a game like last night where he hits everything hard and gets one hit than a game where he gets two infield singles and strikes out the other at bats. The problem is that every time it looks like he's coming out of it, he'll have a 2 game stretch where he strikes out 6 times and looks overmatched. Exactly. If he was able to consistently hit the ball hard, even for a 5-6 game stretch, the balls would be falling a lot for him. - May Catch All White Sox Thread
