Sox sign 2B Josh Harrison (1 yr, 5.5M; club option; 1.5M buyout)
3rd best LF in baseball by UZR in 05, +9 on DRS. I bet Juan Pierre was the only white Sox LF who was that good in the last 20 years.

Familia got $6 million. Don’t see numbers on Colome.

In LF? Yeah he was excellent.

Now compare Podsednik and Eloy. Then ask if there’s any risk to having Robert between two bad defenders.

White Sox Sign RP Joe Kelly (2yrs with a club option; $17m)
Honestly, yes. There are no SP left on the market you want for the money. Suzuki could be fine, but what <$8 million SP do you want? Greinke? Duffy? Kluber? McHugh?

This is one thing I understand the need for.

White Sox Sign RP Joe Kelly (2yrs with a club option; $17m)
As of right now, Spotrac has the white Sox with $21.9 million above the tax. As long as Conforto is at $20 million, they are healthier than average, and make no moves at the deadline, they can still fit him under the tax.

I think he’s tradeable, as long as the White Sox eat some of his $16 million salary.

I’m betting I can find someone who thought the Phillies would take on his entire contract and give up a pre-arbitration reliever with a solid 2019 season for him.

November 3 2022: “the White Sox will finally trade Kimbrel tomorrow, I swear. He has tons of surplus value it’s crazy that you think no one will give up a top talent for him for the next 13 minutes.”

…waits for your response when someone else signs Conforto…

The new White Sox bullpen is a MAJOR upgrade
All 3 of those guys had FIP numbers better than their ERA. While Fosters was still bad, the other two weren’t. Joe Kelly and Graveman both had FIP better than those guys, but both had ERA that were better than their FIP. Thus, it is the opposite setup of the pitchers discarded. For example, Graveman had an ERA of 1.77 but an FIP of 3.19. Heuer with the White Sox had an ERA of 5.12 but an FIP of 3.69. Are the White Sox getting substantially better, or are they picking pitcher who were lucky and had better defenses and catchers to make up for their unlucky pitchers who had poor defenses and bad catchers?

Fair.

Offseason Part 2 - Lets the Rumors & Action Begin
This person has done zero research on the luxury tax rules. The White Sox have about $19 million right now. If they traded Kimbrel, there’s a maximum of $35 million. This person doesn’t know about the fact benefits get counted in the luxury tax dollars.

White Sox Sign RP Joe Kelly (2yrs with a club option; $17m)
Joe Kelly gets as much in 2 years as Kimbrel gets in 1: “this totally shows Kimbrel is being traded.” White Sox sign Harrison, showing who rejected the Kimbrel for Segura concept: “Kimbrel still has plenty of value!” Every day goes by with no Kimbrel trade: “This just means Hahn has so many offers for him that he’s unwilling to choose and obviously is willing to let suitors go other places because there’s no possible risk, not that he has no one willing to absorb that whole contract.” There is obviously no commonality here that would magically make them all make sense. Not at all like they all totally fit with “no one will take on that whole contract and they’re waiting to see if someone comes closer once Jansen gets like $12 million.” People will be insisting Kimbrel will be traded tomorrow on June 15.

Sox sign 2B Josh Harrison (1 yr, 5.5M; club option; 1.5M buyout)
Lineup and bench as of today: RF: Vaughn DH: Sheets 2b: Harrison Bench: Leury, Romy, Engel, Collins/Zavala Add a RF and I assume Romy to the minors? But you can also see them going with this lineup.

They didn’t understand the FA market.

“The White Sox take the best cheap 2b option on the market”. ”But why didn’t they trade Kimbrel for Segura? Which side must have said no to that? Oh.”

White Sox Sign RP Joe Kelly (2yrs with a club option; $17m)
Has anyone gotten a price here? If he got $10 million and JH got $5.5 then they have less than $20 million under the tax line, $15 more realistically.

Sounds like Kimbrel.
-
Sox sign 2B Josh Harrison (1 yr, 5.5M; club option; 1.5M buyout)
While Leury performed better last year, JH has a better record of health, and you need positional depth that both of these guys provide together. If Conforto signs somewhere else, then you can explode. This is a decent setup. LaRussa can be as creative as he wants and it won’t be a mistake.

Sox sign 2B Josh Harrison (1 yr, 5.5M; club option; 1.5M buyout)
Out of the possible 2b left on the free agent market, he was the best performer last year. If there were no trade options, he was a solid candidate. He also can play multiple positions, and I always liked the guy. They coulda done better but at least they got someone.
